The Egg & I

Excellent for Breakfast, Brunch or Lunch. This was my second visit to The Egg and I. I must say that the second visit was even better than the first. I am simple kinda guy and just had a eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. It was a great breakfast. My friend who was also visiting for the second time had the shrimp and crab omelet and enjoyed just as he did the first time. The service was excellent. To top it all off the owner remembered us from our first visit, which was more than 3 months ago and even commented on the review that my friend wrote at the time. Great breakfast place in Dallas. I had a wonderful breakfast today, this establishment was very impressive. I knew I was in for a treat when I walked into the restaurant and the decorum stood out. The restaurant looked stylish even though it had very affordable reasonable prices. I was impressed with the fact that they had freshly squeezed orange juice which was actually fresh and not concentrated which I cannot stand. I ordered the Texan skillet which had steak and eggs in it, after combing the menu I decided to try an extra dish on the side for taste. I am so glad I did order 2 dishes because if I just ordered the Texan skillet this review would have been different, thankfully I did order the crab and shrimp omelet which was the BOMB. This was the best, the best omelet I ever tasted by far. I quickly put the skillet aside which had steak in it that tasted like Alpo, not like I know what Alpo taste like but it taste like what Alpo would taste like I guess, joking. The shrimp and crab omelet quickly got my attention and keep it. I ate the entire omelet and gave the waitress my happy and satisfied review. The manager came by periodically to make sure things were ok at the table and that was appreciated and noticed. We sat outside because it was a nice day but the inside did look very nice and would have been as comfortable if not more than the outside patio. The waitress was very friendly and helpful, she didn’t know how some of the dishes tasted which was a little bothersome. In my opinion you should have at least tasted every dish on the menu that you’re serving to give the customer an honest assessment. I would highly recommend this restaurant for your breakfast needs. I didn’t have their lunch but I am sure there are good dishes on there as well.…

I love this place. This is the best place around for LUNCH! Don't get me wrong, their giant pancakes and waffles are incredible and I love their egg Benedict - my favorite is the hiker's Benedict with asparagus. Our friend's invited us to meet them for breakfast one Saturday and we just loved the place. However, this place is a gem for my lunch hour. It is easy to get to without having to deal with all the Beltline traffic and there is a ton of parking. We usually have enough time to run across the street to Wal-Mart and do a bunch of errands as well.

The sandwiches and salads are really good and the soups are homemade. My girlfriend loves their spinach salad with grilled chicken on top of it and the chicken waldorf salad with chicken tortilla soup. I love the Arizona Turkey sandwich and the tuna melt and I love having the option to have breakfast food at lunch!

The entire staff is very friendly, and the atmosphere is very nice and very clean! We cannot wait until warmer weather to sit out on the patio. I work on the west side of the Tollway but I take the service road to Arapaho and turn left where Montfort meets Knoll Trail. Karen works off Preston and Beltline and she whips down Preston to Arapaho and is there in 5 minutes. We love not having to deal with the Beltline traffic and we love the food. So glad we found The Egg and I!…
