DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO DAVIDS AUTOMOTIVE

by kma55tss at Citysearch

I took my car in for diagnostics, David told me it was the Transmission. I paid for him to tow it to a SO CALLED expert. The expert let his young daughter play in the car and get greasy foot prints on the leather seats, she took items that belonged to me from the car as well.

The transmission guy not only did NOT fix my problem, but I had to take it back to be redone and have him repair everything else he broke including the AIR BAGS! after another week without my car I got it back with more problems and had to go to another REAL mechanic to get my car fixed right the THIRD time. I later found out that David charged me three times the normal rate for the transmission. SAVE YOURSELF THE MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! ! ! ! ! ! !

Routine Repair Shop

by RJBOT at Citysearch

Does most basic repairs and service just fine at the market rate.

Spark plug replacement on late model Ford trucks

( 5.4 ) not so much. I had to smell fuel for a year because I grew tired of taking the vehicle back with said complaint. Dave's said they sent it to a Ford shop but it still had the fuel smell in the cabin.

The problem finally got so bad the engine began to miss at which time it was diagnosed with a loose spark plug. I thought it fair to take the diagnosis back to Dave and see what he would have to say.

Not an apology just stated that the Ford repair shop had charged me to much for the repair.

The usual rip-off

by Critic111 at Citysearch

After reading the online reviews it seemed in balance that this place might be worth a try to solve a problem with uneven pad wear on my car. Since I have done most mechanical repairs/maintenance on my cars for approximately 15 years I could eliminate the obvious causes. After writing a description of the problem they didn't test-drive the vehicle and just took it straight to the shop. 10 minutes later I was told by the "customer service manager" that the calliper pins needed greasing and it would cost $100. Playing dumb I asked for the mechanic to show me what he meant--greasing the pins is a 1 minute job and I knew the pins were fine. The mechanic duly showed me the pins on the side that might have a malfunctioning calliper and told me that must be the problem. So I asked to see the other side's pins so I could see how they should be working. When the other side was shown to be functioning just like the previous side the mechanic then said it must be the callipers--incidentally on both wheels he had left the calliper hanging by the brake line which is potentially bad for the line and definitely a PR no-no. Presumably since they didn't test drive the vehicle and the mechanic really had no idea what was wrong the plan was (as is typical) not to solve the problem (except by coincidence) but to simply get as much money out of the customer as possible. As is often the case, those reviewers (if legit) who praise this outfit for their customer service are probably those who have no mechanical knowledge and simply go along with whatever they are told is the problem--which of course will always make the shop very happy to help them.

Fair, honest service

by karen b at Citysearch

I've been to David's Automotive many times for different services. Whatever my car needed, they have taken care of the problem. The customer service has always been great and David has been polite and helpful. He's explained things so I could understand. Thanks, David, for having a place in town that we can trust to meet all our car repair needs!
