32.809968 -96.809550THEY PROVIDED ME WITH THE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE. NOT RECOMMENDED. HIRE THEM AT YOUR RISK.
Missing and damaged. Worst movers ever!!! Delivered several items broken, expensive office chair missing. Has delayed claim for almost a year. Continues to fraudulently advertise BBB membership. Membership revoked 11/2009, grade F!
They Employees Can Just take your Belongings.
They were unprofessional about setting a delivery date. When I finally get my belongings I discover they were negligent and an employee was able to take my 48 inch lcd tv home with them.
Have gave them one star because no stars is not allowed.
Shady moving company.
The other reviews here sum up some of what my wife and I went through.
My wife's in the Air Force. We were moving from Texas to California because of a change of duty station and I was tasked with finding a moving company for our things since the Air Force couldn't accommodate our situation (we had things in Texas and in our home state. The AF wouldn't move things from two locations). I found Hurricane Movers thinking they were the best of the bunch I got quotes from.
We were told the estimate given to us was just an estimate and that our final charge would be based on the actual weight of our move. We agreed to this. However, after the move, we were told that we would have to pay the full estimated price because it was a "space reservation" and was the minimum chargeable weight. Our bill of lading stated that 1400 lbs was the minimum chargeable weight. However, we were told that the contract we signed stated the estimate was the minimum like they said.
They also had to package up two 20" TVs and a vanity mirror. This cost us $174. We were afraid that, if we didn't allow them to repack these items, that they would be smashed on purpose, so we bit the bullet. Then the driver pleaded for a tip and left us in an uncomfortable spot.
After it was delivered, we were told that the driver did not have the weigh tickets which the Air Force requires for reimbursement. We had to call and request for them, but not before leaving about a dozen messages that went unanswered.
They did not present our contract until the moving day, and not until all of our things were loaded up. Even if we declined their services because of their estimate-only pricing, we would not have had any time to get someone else since we were on a deadline to get to California.
I recently discovered that the Better Business Bureau gave them an F rating because of all the unresolved complaints they have. You can see that on their website. Our loss was only about $300, not as much as some of the others here, but this is more evidence to those who may be shopping for a mover that Hurricane Movers is NOT the way to go.
THE WORST!.
Worst moving company ever! Do not use! Beware!
Our troubles began when the moving company showed up late to pack our items after midnight past the day of promised delivery. They kept us up until the early morning – for almost 6 hours while they packed our things.
The company was very unresponsive as soon as they had our things. They initially told us our items would be delivered within a week. Then it became two weeks…finally almost three weeks later our things were delivered.
When our items we being unloaded off the truck we started to notice major damage. The driver explaned that one of the trucks used to transfer our things had been involved in an accident. The company did not deliver 10% of our personal items. About 45% of the delivered items were broken or damaged. We estimate that to replace these items it would be over $7,500.
About a week after the shipment arrived, the called to say that they’d found one of our boxes and would be shipping it to us at the next available date. It has been over 2 months and we still have not seen the missing box. The company has stopped returning our calls, and when we do get through to someone, they give us the runaround.
Four reasons to avoid this one, if you are lucky to see this.
1) If you have anything valuable. They very frequently move your stuff from truck to truck, from place to place. Even the very well packed and protected furniture will be damaged more or less.
2) If you definitely need your stuff at their promised date. Do you want to wait for more than 80 days?
3) If you don't want to hear endless "please leave your message", or email without response. From some point, these are their strategy to serve customers
4) Even they could find your lost items, you need to wait unlimited time.
Be afraid. Be very afraid..
Hurricane Movers has been entirely remiss in their responsibilities concerning shipment of
my household goods. My experience with them has been riddled with their incompetence, poor
communication, customer neglect, and unethical behavior.
The following recounts a few of the problems encountered in my move . When working out the details of the required move, I stressed over and over that I had one large item that could not be lifted by
hand and that an 18-wheeler could not get to my house (up my driveway). Therefore, I was
assured that a "short truck" with proper equipment (a lift) would be used to pick up my
property and that it would go straight through to Nebraska. They didn't tell me that the scheduled pickup date was not possible until the day they were supposed
to be there. The operations manager told me they had tried to call me all day on
the 25th, but that is a falsehood-I have caller ID and the first time they tried to call was
at 5:55 p.m. the night before they were supposed to be there. They finally showed up a day
and half later-WITH AN 18-WHEELER and NO EQUIPMENT to load the heavy item! I had to use MY
TRUCK to pull the item down the driveway, and MY GARDEN TRACTOR to push it up their ramp
onto their truck! And they wanted to charge me $250 for "special equipment" needed to move
the "bulky item." They DID NOT provide the special equipment and I ended up having to do
much of the work for them. They were adamant that it was a legitimate charge, but finally
relented after I made several calls to them. (The charge showed up on my credit card, anyway, and after several more calls and email, they credited my card for the bogus charge.)
At delivery, there were three items delivered that didn't belong to me and at
least two of my items were not delivered. The most notable is a glass table top that we brought to their attention immediately. A day later, I was given the "good news" that the table top was in their warehouse in TX and that it would be delivered within a few days. However, despite numerous calls to customer service, and repeated assurance that the issue would be resolved quickly, nothing was done for over two months. That is, at the very least, incompetent and inconsiderate of the customer.
In preparation for the move, I also got estimates from Allied, North American, and Mayflower. Since Hurricane Movers could "guarantee" a pickup date and costs were all comparable, I went with them, anticipating better service from a smaller company. (One of the larger companies advised me not to trust my possessions to some "fly-by-night" company. Wish I'd known then what I know now.) This negative review would not be necessary if they had sent the right (promised) equipment so the warehouse storage would not have been necessary. The situation would have been tolerable if they had followed through on their commitment and responsibility to take care of the customer's interests.
I agree with Kobby: Beware of these people!. I have recently read on the net, that these people have been in business before under different names --red flag. I wish I had read about them before I hired them. They are unprofessional, unethical, unprepared, and untrained. They do not honor agreements, make false statements and promises to get your business. They will omit pertainent information and tack on exorbitant unexpected charges. The worst of it is the "lost" of our 6' tall, ornate antique halltree; a famiy heirloom from the 1800's. We are just heartbroken. Please, if anyone has this piece, please return it to us. Also "missing" is a tv, microwave, tools, urns, and more. How can items be"lost" with a direct move?? What furniture they did deliver was mishandled. There wasn't anything that wasn't either broken, marred, rubbed, scrubbed, torn, missing pieces, holes poked, or indented.
DO NOT USE!. Never use this company. My finance loss was $5000!! The worst damage was my Audi. Also, piano(leg broken), desk (big vent), ping pong table (never stands up again) and more. The worst experience is their lie. I wanted a guranteed delivery to get shipped in three days, so that i contracted an executive delivery. They said they would use their own truck and drivers that go straight from Dalls to Denver just for myself. That is a premium i paid for. I was stupid that I did not get a written confirmation about it because they rent Penske trailor and it caused the crush. Also, they changed truck couple of times during shipping that caused other furniture to be damaged. Moreover, to settle this issue, i have been talking to thi company in the past two months, but they seldom answer my phone, and only called me back one out of my 10 voice mail messages..... I have almost nothing i can do remotely.... I talked to my friend, and he said "what a terrible naming the company is. It sounds like they would make troubles..." Yes, my decision was not right...
