dont go.... THESE LIARS will rapeee you – I got bottle service for my birthday. I had made a deal over the phone with a owner called veronica and she said she would give us 2 bottles and a champainge for 500 and allow all of our guest in without hassle. Then she threw my call over to a sultan satan guy, who was a total hustler. He said that he only had maybe a large table for $750 so I told him no thats ok i will not be interest as I only wanted to spend 500. He called back within one minute andhe said ok i think i can move tables around for you. when we arrived, they immediately took my credit card and Id. They had so many tables available, so that was a lie satan told!!!The 2 bottles came but we never got the champainge. Also, the door man would NOT let my party in, he let others not on my party go in first and made all my guest wait 30 minutes. Ihad to tip him $100 and he promised to let everyone in... but turns out he lied tooo. so when i came out, he said i cant let anymore in, these people lie through their freakin teeth to get money and when they have it in their hands, they scewww you over. make sure u get things in writing from them. at the end of the night they gaveme a $960.00 tab and said that included tip.... what kindof tip is that!!! they robb you blind...I refused to sign a tab for 960, i agreeed to 500 plus tip of 100 kept my credit card and id. Dont go there, they are all about money, no morals, no God, Lovers of themselves, evil satanic people. the bouncers are rude and think they are God. The waitress thinks she is better than everyone, she rolls her eyes at all my guest and she isnt even pretty and I hardly even saw her serve us, i really didnt want to tip that bitttch... The manager Satan Sultan is the worst guy i ever met, hustler, cheater, liar. Andthe owner veronica hides behind the scenes while she makes promises she doesnt keep. God will see that what comes around goes around.....i will pray that they will be humble and that God will work on their pride and give them integrity. THis is the WORST NIGHT OF MY LIFE, I FELT RAPED, CHEATED AND DISRESPECTED AND THEY TREATED ME AND ALL MY GUEST BADLY.... THEY DONT LIKE BLACK PEOPLE UNLESS YOU ARE FAMOUS OR TIP THEM...... I WILL BE REPORTING THEM TO THE BAR, BBB, AND THE POLICE
Obnoxious and full of bad attitude – From the bartenders who get their kicks preying on the girls even if they are married or engaged or taken, while ignoring the male patrons, to the bouncers who act like they are king of the world and in the most elite of all jobs, this place is a joke. Dallas has clubs come and go every year and if it was not for the fact that this city has its high quotient of male douches trying to impress girls with anything flashy, this place would not exist. Stick with the bars on Mckinney Ave or downtown lounges for a much more chill and truly vibrant night. Even the clubs in Addison are better.
Worst of all - and non-excusable - this place caters mostly to white people. I witnessed the bouncer harassing black females, Latin guys, and Asian couples with excuses like "you're drunk" or "you're not well dressed" or even "this is not the ghetto Ghost Bar (reference to the W Hotel in Victory Park")!
Don't waste your time, or money (you'll need $$$$ just to breathe the air), and most importantly negative energy of this place.
Complete Waste Of Time – We were out with my wife and her friends for one of their friend's birthdays. They're all dressed up hot and revieling and want to go dancing after dinner. Instead of paying valet, I drop them off and after 15 minutes of looking for parking I find it. When I walk up the bouncer tells me I'm too drunk to be allowed in (I'm the DD and am sober, though the couple in front of me were stumbling.) He proceeds to get his partner to agree with him. Apparently every 10th male gets turned away so they can present themselves as an "exclusive" club. I could care less, but then they wouldn't let me tell my wife, so I had to wait for her to come looking for me. They then proceed to tell her I'm intoxicated while letting anything else in a short dress in. I won't be back, but in 6 months they'll be shut down or under new ownership and the bouncer will be back to living with his parents and sacking bags at Krogers. Complete waste of time...
Still Going Strong.... – Aura is the last club in Dallas that can still boast three solid nights per week (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). And unlike it's competitors, they still maintain a high standard at the door...
Dallas's Best Club – This is definitely the hot spot. I would recommend it to the people who like places that have great people, great music and great drinks. Me and my friends won't go anywhere else, or if we do we always end u at AURA...
Worst place in DFW – Went to AURA on Friday night and the place really dissapointed me. Employees are very rude from the staff at the door to the bartenders. I don't think managemnt at this place knows anything about costumer service. I will only go back if they put a gun to my head.
Don't go – I made all my friends go there and when we valeted the car and got to the door, they told all my girlfriends they could come in and told me that they couldn't let me in ... and it was very obvious that it was because they had reached their "black" person quota for the night... He made me feel so stupid by acting like it was a security issue that, i, a girl, was some kind of dangerous person, but it became very apparent that it was because of my race after he made stupid excuses to not let me in. Bad idea...
Not worth the price – Went to Aura this past weekend 09/26/2009, myself and 2 of my boys. Got there at 10:15 P.M., paid $10 to Valet our car only to get to the door and the door guy asking if we were on a list. We said we were not, he then asks us to wait while he let other groups in, of course all girls in before us. Then proceeds to tell us that it's a private party and we can't get in.
After talking to him for a moment it became clear that we could get in for a price, so after already paying $10 to valet we pitched in $40 dollars addional to get in the club.
Then you're looking at $11 dollar shots, $5 dollar beers, etc....You can find better for cheaper and you can definitely find places you can get in without having to slip door guy money.
Will not go back, would not recommend.
One of Uptown's trendiest clubs draws hip hop and mash DJs. – The scene outside this discriminating club is as much as show as indoors, as women with long legs step out of yellow Ferraris while guys in tight shirts look without caution. Inside, hot pink, orange and purple wall lights warm up the dark backdrop filled with energizing beats and sizzling singles. Dazzling chandeliers speckle the ceiling over a packed dance floor and glowing bottles of booze rest on ice at reserved tables. And at every turn groups of girls with martini glasses in hand giggle while lounging on deep leather couches while boys with game stroll over to test their pick up lines.
Not Recommended – I went with a group of 5 other people to Aura on a Saturday night in April 2009. We normally don't do bottle service in Dallas, but it was a friend's birthday so we decided to give it a shot. We arrived at 10:30PM as they told us to and the place was pretty dead for the most part. We ended up buying 3 bottles of Vodka and our tab was nearly $1400 after the tip. Bottles are $350 which is absurd for Dallas. We've done bottle service in Vegas & Miami and I don't understand how a club in Dallas (which is not a tourist destination) can charge this much and people actually pay it. But if they can get away with it more power to them.
The club is not that big but the setup was pretty good. It finally started to fill up around midnight or shortly after. The DJ was OK- played a mix of house and hip-hop and a little 80s thrown in here and there. We prefer hip-hop & top 40 so we weren't very impressed. He definitely "over - DJ'ed" rather than just letting some of the songs play.
Other than the waitstaff, the girls were not impressive either. There were a couple decent ones but for the most part we were disappointed in the quality...very few 8's, 9's and 10's. Maybe we just ended up there on an 'off' night. .
Overall, I would not recommend Aura based on the experience I had...unless you prefer unattractive females, house music, and expensive bottles. Try Madison Ave - better music, bigger dance floor, rooftop, and not nearly as pretentious.
