The Preston Center hustle is muted upon entering famed Kent Rathbun's comfort cuisine restaurant. Tall glass votives and dim lights illuminate the tables and booths filled with families and business types. An open-concept kitchen sits caddy corner from the stretch bar where chalkboards list daily drink and food specials. Knowledgeable and friendly waiters walk guests through the menu of Kent's favorite home-cooked foods made primarily with locally purveyed ingredients. The Texas quail is chicken fried with heirloom corn-chipotle spoonbread and the whole wheat Texas pecan waffle has a dollop of whipped goat cheese from Latte Da Dairy in Flower Mound, Texas.
