Great menu, great atmosphere

Tonight's "date night" restaurant was Watel's. The complimentary valet parking is great, as I hate trying to find non-tow parking around Greenville Ave. Passing through the enclosed patio, it looked like a great place to hang out and have a meal when the weather is a little cooler. Inside, I was greeted by the owner, and immediately given my choice of place to sit. Since they have a great selection of Belgian beers, I asked them to surprise me. I could not tell you the name of the beer, but it was pretty tasty. We had the salmon roeste app to split, which was a great start. The smoky flavor of the salmon went great with the potatoes. We shared the Mahi mahi entree, which was cooked to perfection and really benefited from the candied lime zest on top and the melon jicama slaw bed. Lastly, the chocolate bread pudding was amazing. I am used to german bread pudding, so the texture of this one was a little different, but the taste was fantastic.
The atmosphere is very relaxed, and lends itself very easily to the jazz music in the background. The menu is an eclectic one, with dishes from all over the world. We will definitely be back!
- Pros: menu, service, atmosphere, parking
- Cons: none
Great food, service & value!

My girlfriend and I ate here on a recent Friday night. It is in lower Greenville, so might be a good spot for those that want to hit the nightlife after, but we didn't. Be sure to call ahead, as I understand it they are not open every night of the week. They had complimentary valet parking when we ate there.
We walked in and were allowed to pick our own table. The gentleman that did most of the serving (might have been the owner?) was very hospitable and the lady that helped him was pleasant as well. We tried a few different wines as we were getting settled. They have some unusual selections (e.g., Austrian Red) and the prices are reasonable. The menu is best described as eclectic global cuisine.
They brought out some complimentary bread from Empire Bakery (the best in town). We shared a "Salmon Roesti" appetizer that was good - basically salmon on potato pancake. Our entrees were grilled shrimp with Muamba sauce (from Congo) and a beef tenderloin dish. Both were delicious. We finished off with a wonderful rasberry dessert. They were very good about keeping us supplied with various glasses of wine over the course of the meal and dessert. Watel's knows what they're doing...check it out. Unless you have a "bigger is better" type of mentality about food, you will love this place. Watel's is the best value we've had in a while in Dallas.
- Pros: Wonderful hospitality, great food & wine, cool decor
- Cons: None really

My friend and I came here because we had heard they opened on Greenville. We loved this place! The atmosphere was perfect and everything we tried was amazing. The staff was so kind and helpful and we tried many different dishes and all were fabulous. They had wonderful wine selections too. We are officially a "Watelistas".
- Pros: home made food with amazing taste
- Cons: nothing bad here!

I really enjoyed this restaurant and plan to make it one of my "go to" restaurants for friends and family. The menu is unique and has something for everyone. Nice atmosphere for dinner and/or drinks at the bar. Very reasonably priced as well.

One of a Kind

This is a wonderful, unique restaurant. The decor is relaxed and comfortable, but cool. The menu is thoughtful and delicious. They never lack great wine and cheese to compliment your meal. The staff and owners are courteous, but not over-bearing. This is a place you can take friends or family for a special occasion, or just drop in when you want to treat yourself to a little culinary luxury at a very reasonable price.
- Pros: thoughtful and elegant menu
- Cons: none
