Best Thai Food.
2nd visit - I adore this place nice atomo - great food*
will be taking my partner next time
Nice place. Great atmosphere! The waitresses are very kind, and willing to help! Please try the coconut soup, you won't regret!
Thai food done as it should be. Thai Star is a great little restaurant, the quality and price are hard to beat. One of my go-to dishes is the Kapow, I make it a point to try different items from the menu and have enjoyed everything I have had. The staff is excellent and the service is friendly and efficient without feeling rushed. This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the metroplex.
Wow, we tried a new place for lunch. Now it is my favorite Thai food in Dallas. (sorry, Royal Thai)
I had Broccoli Stir Fry...garlicky, fresh ingredients, mouth watering...delish....also with a nice spicy kick. I ordered medium. My fellow diners were equally delighted with their entrees. I had a bite of the noodles and they tasted like more. I can't wait to go back...maybe this weekend!
BEST DALLAS THAI FOOD RESTAURANT!!!.
My wife and I brought another couple with us to Thai Star last week! WHAT A GREAT TIME!! We ordered 4 entrees and split them up between us...WHAT A FEAST!! Between the Shrimp/Pork Dumplings, the fantastic noodle and chicken dishes, plus Shrimp rolls---YUMMMMMM!!! We savored every bite!
This restaurant really made our time with special friends an EXTRA SPECIAL EVENT, and a night to remember! The service was excellent, and Mark, the co-owner, took care of our every need Quick-Quick! Such a delight to find an excellent restaurant with great food and great service!! We will be back again soon!
Try it---YOU'LL LOVE IT!! Bring your friends--you'll be glad you did!!
the best Thai Food. I just back from my second visit and I've got the say this is the best Thai food I've had in Dallas. The first time I went, I started with the shrimp and pork dumpling. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. My friend and I fought over the last one. I also had the 8 angles with pork. It was sooo good. The vegetables and noodles were perfectly cooked and the sauce was fantastic. I could hardly wait to go back the next week, started with the shrimp rolls, excellent elongated shrimp in a wrapper and fried. Also had the herbed chicken fried rice. It was small pieces of fried chicken breast that had a hint of lemon grass and lime with jasmine rice and other mixed vegetables. It was great. The new owners do everything they can to make you feel at home and you can tell the chef takes pride in her work, the food really shows it. This is hands down my new favorite restaurant.
An oasis from the Addison "strip" of chain restaurants.
Thai Star is a wonderful experience if you like cozy, one of a kind, I’ve stepped out of my hectic life, into an oasis in Addison type of place. We all need that – especially if you’ve had the week I had.
When you walk into the restaurant, you know you are off the main strip and it’s a breath of fresh air. The Asian print throw pillows on the bench attracted my eye, but I noticed that the raised area under the thatched roof attracts the attention of all the women on dates when they walked through the door. Their counterparts would head straight for one of the square tables with beautifully embroidered tablecloths protected by glass tops.
My boyfriend and I have been there 3 times already and have ordered different appetizers and entrées each time and have never been disappointed. The sauces are flavorful without being overbearing. I always test Thai restaurants with the standard Chicken Satay and Pad Thai. The peanut sauce was light and flavorful – I hate places that offer it with the thick texture of peanut butter. The Pad Thai was delicious and next time I need to upgrade to Level 2 for spiciness. (I’m a wimp and play it safe until I find out what their definition of Level 1 is). The staff is very gracious and accommodating with the smallest requests of modifications (no scallions etc). The prices are very reasonable and make for a cheap evening, especially when you bring your own wine.
One of our recent visits was a Saturday night when they had a lovely young woman fresh from the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, sharing her original songs on her guitar and keyboard. It wasn’t so loud that you couldn’t talk and listening to the lyrics and stories behind the songs was like having a private “MTV Storytellers” show.
If you want a place where you can talk without shouting, your meals aren’t priced to cover the overhead costs of the latest atmosphere trends and you want authentic-quality Thai food, I highly recommend dropping by for a visit.
Owners Response To Lancekra.
We at Thai Star have done everything we can to make every one a happy customer and we understand that it is impossible to do so! I personally feel a response is needed to set the facts straight about Thai Star. Our lunches have remained the same.
In fact we have the same staff that has always been here. We are not under new management. My wife and I bought the place and we added music because the music players were all broken. We added a TV for the benefit of our mainly lunch business crowd, who want to keep up with what's happening before they need to get back to work.
Sometimes change can be good. We left the food alone and have worked hard to improve our establishment. About 99% of all the reviews we have received, about 50 reviews in all, since we have been open, have been very good, 4 and 5 stars, on other sites.
We are guilty of trying to do something with our otherwise very slow and quiet Saturday nights. When we purchased the place, the previous owners had been closed for all evenings, leaving the place only open for lunch.
We have indeed invited local musicians, acoustic singer/songwriters, to our restaurant every other week to play their original material. The music is varied and for the most part I have been surprised at how good it is! What all of our musicians have in common is that it is music from their heart!
We have done the live music and buffet only 4 times in the 4+ months we have been open, and when we do, we post it around the restaurant in advance, advertise it, and put it on our website.
We serve a delicious Thai buffet on the special music nights only, so people can try different Thai Dishes other than what they usually order! And we try to make it a good deal, as in $10.95 for 2 appetizers, 5 entrees, and dessert.
So, except for the music night, every other Saturday night, we have our regular menu Monday through Friday day & night 11am-9pm and every other Saturday 12pm to 9:30pm.
If you do not like live music or a buffet then come and join us any other day or night except on our posted and advertised every other Saturday nights. We do not mind at all if this is not your thing.
We are just trying to support local music and provide an alternative to the bar scence, where you can actually see some great musicians play their hearts out! And get in and out by 9 pm or so rather than waiting till 11pm for the first musician to start playing.
Our food has not wavered, our staff have remained the same as it was before we opened, and yes, we are guilty of adding a TV and music, and pictures on the walls, for that matter.
As for the guys in jean shorts and the homeless person, with six pack, and so forth, this is just not true or fair, and in no way represents our establishment. I am not sure what we personally did to this diner to deserve this type of commentary.
We do everything we can to make this restaurant a great place to dine, a great place to grab a quick lunch, and a good place to see wonderful singer/songwriters every other week, on Saturday nights only!
We hope to see you all soon, at Thai Star, where you can still get a great quick lunch and a quiet relaxing dinner, except every other Saturday night.
New Ownership Big Disappointment. WHAT A SHAME.
I thought I was going out for Thai? What's the deal with the really bad ...effing terrible live folk? singer?
I should have seen it coming with the new management adding T.V.'s and recorded music at what was until recently a solid spot for lunch.
You don't know what you are going to get with this place anymore. Apparently it could be buffet style place with guys in jean shorts and flip flops wandering in with a six pack under their arm to just sit around when you were expecting to take a date to a genuine Thai restaurant. Or its a bad live music showcase which sets a mood that could only be compared to homeless person battered with filth being seated at your table and then sneezing all over you.
My co-workers and I have been going to this location for lunch for years but the new owners who went into great detail when describing the "authentic" Thai dishes and "traditional" Thai decor initially , now have mixed mash of ill-fitting parts.
What a disappointment
best thai food in Dallas and Addison!. I was so happy when I found the Thai Star. This place is so cool on the inside and the found is authentic. They have a very wide menu with so many options!! This is a great atmosphere for a date or also for family or business dinner. It has an intimate feel and is perfect for a getaway dinner in Addison. They also deliver and do take out which i love! I would recommend this place to anyone! Great thai food!
