I have taken my car into Chips Auto a total of 5 times for front end work and have spent almost $1500.00 on repairs and it's still not fixed. It still squeaks and road walks. They couldn't even get the steering wheel straight when they aligned the front end for the third time. They even tried to charge me double the standard charge for the alignment the first time saying it took them extra time to get it aligned. Even though a front end alignment is a flat rate charge at any shop. As for the squeak I was told "those cars are known for that” and when I said it still doesn't drive like it should I was asked "well how should it drive". Well it should drive better than it did when I first brought it in. They also worked on the emissions because the check engine light was on. It took them all five times that I took the car in and $120.00 in parts plus the $89.00 they charged me to check it out. I was told again “those cars are known for that” when it took them so many times to fix it. Only to find out it was a hose that had become disconnected on the purge valve that was the problem. You would think as an experienced mechanic they would of check out all the connections on the initial check. I'm not sure about all of you but I will NOT be going back to this Garage again and I’m going to take my car into an ASE Certified Mechanic to check the work done by Chips Auto.
Great work, great deal! Three cars and counting.... I have been taking my cars to Chip for over 15 years. His guys always do a great job for a fair price. He never pressures me to do unnecessary work. Best shop in town.
Would not recommend this place! I took a car to Chip’s Auto Repair that I was interested in buying and Chip told me they would do a bumper-to-bumper inspection for $79 and give me a print-out of everything they had checked for.
When I arrived later, Chip said that his mechanic found the car had been wrecked on the front and the rear and advised me not to buy the car. I asked Chip if they had done the bumper-to-bumper inspection. He said they did not since they found it had been wrecked. He said he would only charge me only $78 since they did not do a complete inspection (a whole dollar off..this really happened!). I protested but paid him just to get the car back.
I later took the car to another mechanic and they showed me it had not been wrecked at all as Chip’s had said. The bumper covers on both the front and rear were original since they had the original VINs on them and they could find no proof there had been damage to the car. I asked Chip to refund me the $78 but he refused. I believe they had told me it had been wrecked so they wouldn't have to spend the time to do a complete inspection. Would advise everyone to avoid this place...what a crook!
My mom came to see you today. She was in the purple PT Cruiser. I just wanted to say Thank You very much for helping her out. She just went on and on about you and how much you helped her. I am glad that there are still people like you around that will help people just like my mom. I WILL be telling people that I know in Dallas area about you guys. Thanks again.
Car Repair Phobic No More!.
I am an absolute car-phobe. I am constantly worried about getting ripped off at car repair places (thanks to previous experience), or paying through the nose for something I really don't need. My trip to Chips Auto has changed that.
I received excellent service. Not only was I told what was wrong with my car, but I was actually SHOWN what was wrong with my car. For someone as car challenged as I am, actually seeing where the problems were really set my conscience at ease, and let me know that I did in fact need the services being suggested.
The price of the service was very fair, and definitely better than some places I have been to. They also went out of their way to fix my messed up door and put on the new windshield wipers I had been hauling around with me for ages. All for no extra charge.
I would highly recommend visiting Chips if you want some straight-forward advice with friendly service.
Best shop in town.. I recently brought my '87 Buick Grand National here for some suspension upgrades. Chip was awesome to deal with and got the work done in a timely fashion and made sure it was top notch. I am very hesitant bringing my car to anybody as I do most of the work myself, but I would absolutely bring the car to Chip again. For the work done, the price was very fair and I doubt many shops in the area could compete. Chip's is highly recommended!
Great Customer Service. I had recent electrical problem with my Dodge Pickup and took it to another shop first for an estimate. The other shop estimated the repair to be an extraordinary amount for what I thought would be a small fix. I took my truck to Chips and was able to get the repair done for an extremely minimal cost. Chip's diagnosed the problem, fixed it, and checked the fix several times to make sure the problem was fixed, all within a few hours. Chips worked with me on the payment and retrieval of my pickup as well because I had left on a trip out of town right after I dropped it off. I was absolutely amazed with the customer service and mechanical service at this shop and will not be taking my vehicle to any other shops in the future. Chip's brings good old fashioned customer service and great rates into the "high priced priced and sub-par repair" modern world of mechanics and auto repair.
Very satisfied. Service was excellent, timely, and payment was what was quoted a week earlier for bumper repair, which I found to be quite reasonable. The staff was very professional and courteous. I won't hesitate to use Chip's again for auto repair.
The Good Ol' Fashion Mechanic Youve Been Looking For..
Title says it all, My Friends
Before my current car, i owned an 94 Nissan Altama, which as you can imagine would have more than a few things falling off the edges. Since my father, a long time car enthusiast takes his Vehicles to Chips, i figured i would see what the buzz was about. Turns out Chip, Who was a long time Jet Engine Mech. in the Militarily, Lives up to the Hype. From the time my Transmission started giving out, to when my my Air Conditioner Just plain Stopped, The shop took care of me. They even spent the time to look for Quality used parts on my Air Conditioner job the Dropped the Price by almost 50% overall. They always Call before doing any work, and while they are in business to make money (like any business) They don't lie or make up any problems, And will tell you Exactly what will, and could(and for me they have differentiated between the two, which i find extremely important), go wrong if you don't go with the advised repairs, but with no drama. Chip and his team were even there for me when it was time to find a new car, Inspecting the car and fixing it all up to make it road worthy, even Put A great tint on for me, and did a bang up job on it all. The Discerning Consumer Will Love Working With Chip, and For those of us who just may not have the time, he'll take care of you.
Bottom line, Any Car, Any Job, Go to Chips. You wont be Disappointed, And you wont want to go anywhere else.
