Another Great Visit!. I've been going to 1st Eye Care since I was a teenager and everyone there is really friendly. The eye exams here are really easy and the staff is extremely nice. My favorite thing about this office though is that they have such great equipment and technology- I even get a text message reminder before my appointment so I don't forget!

Very pushy; Hostile; Money making machine.. I've gone to 1st Eye Care several times, for myself and for my children, because it is the only local office that is "in network" for my insurance. have decided to stop going to 1st Eye care and just deal with the added expense and paperwork of going out of network because it would be worth it not to have to ever go there again!

My biggest complaint is that, every step of the process, you feel like they are just trying to make more money off you. They corral you into their contact lens and eyeglass center ("please exit thru the gift shop"), where they try to sell you on this complex scheme of "plans" through which you pay an annual fee (dif levels) for the right to buy lenses, glasses, eye exam, etc, from them at a "discounted" rate...they're fast talkers, and it makes no sense to me why they go this route.

If you have the nerve to ask for your prescription so that you can get glasses or lenses from a dif provider (e.g. 1800contacts), they exhibit great hostility. I can only imagine that the employees are compensated based primarily on commissions. If you do manage to wrestle your prescription from them (legally you have the right to it), they handwrite on the prescription a limit of one year's worth of lenses (what THEY estimate to be one year...what happens if you change them more frequently?). I spoke with a different (more legit) Dr. who said that in the state of TX a contact lense prescription is legally good for two years, unless there's some extreme medical necessity. So, again, at 1st eyecare they just want to get you back so that they can charge for another eye exam.

One more thing...the staff are pretty consistently rude (Dr. Kerri Clark is the only nice person there...), and they rush you through in a factory setting, where you wait a long time then they bark your name and you're set off on this conveyer belt of tests, at various machines. The last time I was there they had SUMMER INTERNS handling this testing...cheap labor...Anyway, I just wanted to forewarn people. "Having" to use 1st eyecare has been a source of irritation for me since day one; I'm going switch to a highly rated eye doctor, even though it will cost me more through my insurance...
