Om, nom, nom! YUMMY!!
I'll be the first to admit that I am not really a big fan of meaty/creamy/buttery/greasy foods. Where does this leave me, then, dining at a German restaurant? In a good position, my friends! Bavarian Grill has a very decent vegetarian menu, believe it or not! I am not a vegetarian, but it had some yummy sounding stuff- I opted to try a sampler plate that consisted of sweet and sour red cabbage, sauer kraut, mashed potatoes, spaetzle, creamed spinach, sauteed mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, and some sort of salad. HOLY MOTHER this was a lot of food! The creamed spinach was THE BEST I have ever had, anywhere. Everything on my plate was delicious. Loved all the little breads that came with our meal, too. Only downside: I left here feeling like I was going to EXPLODE because I ate so much. Oh, and it's a little pricey. $41 for two dinner with softdrinks.
And, Fear not, carnivorous friends...My husband had the 5-weenie platter, or whatever it's called, and he couldn't stop talking about how delicious it was.
While the price and the, er, nutritional content make this an "every so often" kind of place, we will definitely be back!
Addictive.
I've visited a few times with my family and the food is always amazing. I despise mushrooms but always manage to order the brat stuffed caps as an appetizer.
Went with a friend visiting from Germany and he loved the place due to the fact they had the most edible bread he had encountered during his month long visit.
They also have some great beers. I may have to go up there this weekend and just have an appetizer so I can try more than 2.
good German food.
Having grown up in Germany I can say that this place has pretty authentic food- as authentic as it can be in the U.S.
Their portions are HUGE and you can almost always take some home with you. I guess that is why the prices are so high. If you factor in that youre basically paying for two meals the prices are not too bad...
Fun social place.
Fun, social atmosphere. Live music really adds to the environment, and you can get a special spot on the wall if you order a certain amount of different kinds of brews (which you get signed off on!). It's definitely fun collecting them all.
I love the outfits and unique feel of this place.
The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it's a bit pricey and the food quantities are small.
Best German food in US (or at least Texas). I went for all the soccer games and continue to go on a regular basis. I have been for anniversaries, birthdays, and even engagement parties and always had a total blast! Every time I take a friend on a weekend (when they have authentic accordion players) they have the best time! However, you have to be willing to embrace the German atmosphere. I studied abroad in Germany and this place is just like it is there!!! Great food and beer; you can?t go wrong. I recommend the Wiener Art Sntizel. Everyone is so nice and owner is always there to greet you and make sure things are great! I LOVE THIS PLACE!
DO GERMANS NOT HAVE TASTE BUDS. Have heard about them for years and always wanted to go. We went to Plano balloon festival and decided it was the perfect time to try it out. Service and atmosphere were nice, food was YUK...and I'm being polite. I had the 5 sausage plate with potato salad and saurkraut. Only 2 types of sausage were edible (veal sausage disgusting), have had better saurkraut from a can. Wife had a schnitzle (how ever you spell it) with a pasta, schnitzle was tasteless could have been breaded anything. A lot of nerve calling that pile of shredded dough pasta. Table bread served room temp. and right out of a bag. WAY OVERPRICED, NOTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE COULD BE CONSIDERED QUALITY DINING.
Great atmosphere, food & service !!. We had dined at a German restaurant in Muenster, TX (North of Dallas, West of Gainsville) some time ago and bemoaned the fact we had nowhere comparable in our area in Dallas. Then, we stumbled upon Bavarian Grill. The service was exemplary; our friendly male server suggested just the right brew after I told him the typical beer I would order. It was a perfect match ! We both had the Schnitzel "Wiener Art" which was excellent and enough for a large to-go box. Our only regret ? We should have each ordered something different so we could sample two items on the menu. Our entree was accompanied by their delicious warm potato salad and sweet & sour red cabbage. Very generous portions. Atmosphere is delightful, love the little train running around the room. I bet it's fun during Spring and Fall sitting in the beer garden !!! Can't wait for another trip back to Plano to enjoy this special find!!!
Actual Authentic German Food. Excellent Bavarian food. At first I was a bit leary when I saw that it is located in a strip mall. Wow was I mistaken!!! The food is very authentic and taste like anything you would get in Munchen. I eat there quite often and have yet to be disappointed. Try the shwein hauxe. It's to die for!
Old-world Bavarian restaurant and biergarten in Ruisseau Village in Plano..
In Short
European hospitality reigns supreme at this charming local eatery. Hundreds of beer mugs belonging to card-carrying regulars decorate the walls, with large photomurals of the Bavarian Alps dominating the dining area. The menu offers braised beef, roasted pork, boneless filet of trout and various pasta dishes. Who wouldn't be delighted by the restaurant's menu of birthday cakes? They'll even personalize items to order. An adjoining gift shop offers imported chocolate, nutcrackers and beer steins.
