Dallas >A B Moving
Absolutely the worst moving service I've ever used. They didn't wrap up half my things and I caught them dragging many of my items on the floor. Several expensive furniture items were damaged. These items totaled several thousand dollars, yet AB Moving only offered to pay me $200 for the damages. You can definitely find cheaper movers that do a far better job with keeping your belongings safe. I figured spending more would mean better service, but I was terribly mistaken. Absolutely worthless service.
Terrible service. Terrible experience. DO NOT USE THEM. They will break all of your valuables. They will not own up to it. they will be late, causing you lost time. They will take their sweet time. They will NOT be careful with your belongings. I'll say it again: do NOT use them for your move. There are hundreds of others you could use. Why pick one with a terrible review?
When I originally got a quote to move I
gave an extremely detailed description of my house because I used to be in the moving business and I know how frustrating it can be when you show up and were told the wrong situation. I was given a quote from Kyle with a price for 1 truck or 2. He stated if they needed the second they would dispatch it. When only one truck showed up on Sunday morning I didn't think anything of it until Miguel (the crew leader) told me that if they didn't bring the first truck at the beginning of the day that it wasn't coming. Kyle even told me to just get my own UHaul truck and move it myself - even though that is what I was paying them to do!
We basically just settled on them getting all of the most important stuff in the truck now and I would worry about the rest of my belongings later. That was fine. Then, came some damage. Two of my walls got chipped. Not just a little black mark, but actually chipped. And, a coffee table was broke. (I have pictures of all of this available upon request).
That wasn't even the worst part. I got a call last night (11/5/2012) from Capital One saying I had a bunch of un-authorized charges on my card in the city where these gentlemen live. Sure enough, I went to my desk and the card was missing. I called and spoke with Kenny Baker who told me he was the owner of the company. All I requested from Kenny was the tip back I gave the guys. I told him he could keep the money for the move, but I added on a $100 tip FOR EACH of them that I would like back. He told me there was no way that was going to happen because his guys weren't thief's!!!
Needless to say I now have American Express involved, Capital One involved and the local police involved. If you don't want to have to deal with this as well I would strongly caution you against hiring this company.
Very happy with the services provided. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a fast reliable and cost effective moving company. I was moving from a home in which I have many fragile and valuable items that the movers handled them with great care and concern. I personally am very particular about who I let handle my belonging so finding a moving company that I felt confident in was a bit of a struggle but after discussing my move with AB my concerns were laid to rest. They truly are a top notch moving company and I will without a doubt be using them on my next move.
Unhappy with the service. The email
responses and the move were quick, but the movers changed the appointment time and so I left work early, but then the movers didn't keep the changed appointment.
Website says the price is 97.00 and up, but I was charged 205.00 for 1 hour of work (due to the min 2 hour rule) and a trip fee.
I had to go back to work and make up the 1 hr and 30 minutes I lost leaving work early just to wait for the movers, plus the 1 hour it took to move when they finally arrived.
Worst. Moving. Experience. Ever..
This move was with their Austin branch, but was handled by their Dallas "professional." Read on:
Stay far away from this incompetent business. Below is a recap of the most unfortunate moving experience you could imagine, including a crew who arrives 4 hours late and proceeds to SMASH a big screen TV:
Let's start with the shady quote estimator: my initial online inquiry returned an hourly quote of 75/hour. When a representative (I can only assume this was "Kenny") contacted me to confirm, he continuously stated he didn't know how that could be right, that was too cheap, etc. He ends up convincing me I need a three-man crew - I'm moving to a small one bedroom apartment - at 85/hour. Fine. I'm told my window of arrival for this crew is between 1 and 4 pm Saturday.
Silly me, I assume the movers would arrive closer to the 1 pm end of that window. Well, 4:00 pm comes and goes, and after several unreturned phone calls, I get a call from --- (could not understand his name) who tells they will be there at 5:30 pm, 1.5 hours AFTER the window of arrival provided. He says they were booked for too many jobs - shocking. No discount or additional retribution offered for wasting an entire Saturday.
The crew arrives, does not speak English, and begins loading their trailer - attached to a truck. Everything is fine as we arrive to the apartment complex. I go upstairs to show one of the movers the unit. Approximately 10 minutes later, the main guy (again, never caught his name), comes upstairs to tell me, "We have a big problem."
Downstairs, I find my 50 inch Panasonic Flat Screen SMASHED - as in, glass broken, stand dislodged, etc - and propped up against a tree. Apparently one of the movers had tripped over a light in the ground (a foot tall, hard to miss); this light is also broken in half. The movers are either in shock or do not comprehend the value of what they've broken because no move is made to discuss next steps until I demand the number of the owner. It should also be mentioned the main movers cease unloading my things (truck half full) at that point until they recieve payment immediately. When I ask, Main mover --- also refuses to let me see a copy of the contract I signed when they first arrived.
Of course, "Kenny" doesn't answer any of mine or the movers' calls. Finally, I get ahold of "Max," who continuously speaks over me, assuring me he will send me the claim form to submit, and I'll get a settlement offer from their insurance company. A number is thrown out - $0.60/lb. As if weight is indicative of the value of this TV. As if $200 could possibly cover my expenses.
Currently in the process of submitting claim paperwork and documentation. If issue is resolved fairly and in a timely manner, I won't pursue filing a complaint with the BBB. I'll be sure to update once the process is complete.
I regret using them. We moved from Dallas to Austin. I think everything depends on who they contract it out the job to. Some kids showed up to move us and they didn't have any tools, despite being told we could have them disassemble and reassemble our furniture, and we had to unpack our tools and help them do it. They wrapped the furniture that had drawers (to keep the drawers from sliding out during the move) but didn't do anything else to protect the furniture and FIVE of our big pieces of furniture from Pottery Barn were deeply scratched. I filed a claim with photos of the damage. All pieces have to be completely refinished -- the scratches are large and deep. They gave me $100. The moving claim for AB Moving was about $350 cheaper than other movers (like All My Sons). I'll spend way more than that refinishing our furniture. I can honestly say I regret using them.
I highly recommend the two guys that did my move.
I hired them less than 24 hours in advance. They arrived on time. The movers were polite and professional. They were very careful with my furniture. They knew what they were doing. Not a single thing broke.
They worked fast.
I have moved over 20 times in my life and this one was completely stress free.
Thank you. I'll definitely call them again next time I move.
Great movers!. 6 hours, moving from a 3 story 3 bedroom townhouse to a 2 story house, These guys worked hard and quickly! I was pleased with their proffessionalism and how they took care of my belongings
A B Moving. I called A B Moving last-minute, and to their credit, they were able to schedule me for two hours at what seemed like a good rate. However, they sent over Day Laborers instead of professional movers, and not one of the three men they sent over spoke English. That created a huge problem for me. Since I had a two-hour time frame, the clock was ticking. One of the men locked himself in my bathroom for almost 20 minutes, and the smell that spread throughout my apartment was horrible. He left the door shut and the fan on when he left, but he used up almost the entire can of spray that I keep in there to cover the smell, but at some point, I had to get in there.. Also, the closet opens from the bathroom, so I was worried that he might be going through the drawer where I kept my medications. Thank goodness I'd had the presence of mind to put them in a safe location beforehand. I was horrified at one point to see that one mover balanced my heavy 32" TV on his neck, and picked up a chair in each hand so he wasn't holding on to my TV as he went down the stairs. If he had stumbled, it would have smashed my TV. All of my furniture was turned on its side or upside down. When we got to my new apartment, the front door would not stay open. Because no one spoke English, no one was able to ask if I had a doorstop (which I did). Instead of asking, one of them went into the bathroom where I had moved some boxes the night before, ripped it open, and got one of my best hand towels. Although I was standing there protesting, and demanding that he stop going through my personal things, he kept going because he didn't speak English. He took my hand towel and stuffed it under the door. I had washed all my towels before packing them so I could hang them when I got moved in, and have one less thing to worry about, but this guy just treated it like a dust rag. They knew I had a two hour time frame, and I assumed they were keeping track of the time. They ended up going over, so of course, the price they quoted me was now higher. I contacted the owner by email, but he never responded to any of my concerns, not to apologize or anything. My opinion was that he just didn't care. I will never use or recommend this company to anyone.
