Irving >Venetian Terrace
Beautiful Venue!. We had our wedding here and it was the most unforgettable day of our lives! We had an outside ceremony right outside the restaurant with the most gorgeous back drop you could imagine... the vines growing on the brick walls, the canal with gondolas passing by, and the old world charm of the buildings and walkways. The reception was held inside the restaurant. The food was amazing, we had a plated dinner with so much great food! The servers were very attentive and Sasha was so helpful throughout the whole process including the day of the wedding. I would recommend the Venetian Terrace for weddings, birthday parties, or any other special occassion in a heart beat!!
Terrible service, they seemed confused. I just returned from my company holiday luncheon, held at Venetian Terrace. The good points were that the place was pretty and clean and the appetizers, bread and desserts were delicious. The bad points were that service was terrible and some of the food was unappetizing. There were about 40 people in our party. There were two servers. At the time of booking the luncheon, we each selected from the choices provided for entrees and desserts, so they would know how many of each to prepare. The appetizers arrived prior to the plates for appetizers. We had to ask for plates. The entrees came out one main dish at a time, so that anyone who ordered the beef was served and the others at the table sat for 15 min before the chicken came out and another 15 min. before the pasta arrived. There was not the correct number of selected dishes so there was an additional delay for some who ordered pasta. Those who ordered beef were finished eating long before the pasta dish arrived for others at the same table. Meanwhile, drinks were not refilled, not even water. Several times I searched the room for a server to ask for water and no server was in sight. The salad was soaked in dressing to the point of inedibility. The chicken dish was good but the roast beef was covered in a gray sauce that looked terrible and was barely touched. The pasta received approval in general. I guess this is a regular restaurant though three customers, not with our party, came in and were ignored, so they left. I can't recommend this place to anyone. The desserts were great, but everything that came before made the event a trial to endure instead of a wonderful party.
Terrible- Settlement in progress.
At 10 AM, another vendor showed up to decorate the chairs. The chairs and tables were not set up fully to complete the task. In addition, other chairs were set up where the DJ was to set up. Instead of decorating the building we spent most of the morning moving chairs and tables because it wasn’t set up. We were told that workers were suppose to be there at 3 PM. Whenever 3PM came there were no workers leaving my mother and the maiden of honor to decorate 30 chairs and 3 table in 105 degree weather. In the process of leaving the site to get ready, parking was not complementary. In contract it stated that it was complimentary. That was not the case.
We were told the cakes were going to come out at 6 or so. To find out they weren’t ready until 7:15 after guest began to show up. In addition, to the candles not being lit and not having enough tables for gifts. During the night, the bride (my wife) was harassed about how the owner could have saved us money by renting everything from him. In the middle of the night, I found out that the alcohol was being served was liquor instead of beer and wine like we discussed, which cost more. This ran out our tab before the night was up.
Closer to the end of the night (11 pm) the servers began to tear down outside without permission. Let me remind you that were to have this place until 2 am. They tear down and lost all the linens from outside. Now we are asking for a payment for their screw up and have yet to hear from them. In addition, they took chairs and tables from outside through the middle of the dance floor while people were dancing. At 11:30 they proceeded to turn the lights on.
Still enjoyed our wedding, but was a little disappointed.. I recently had my wedding here and was totally confident everything would go as planned. Sasha was always very nice and whenever we had meetings I'd give him diagrams and layouts of how I'd like the room to be set up etc. I felt comfortable that everything would be ok. We had requested specifically two types of beer to be served at our wedding, Shiner Bock and Fat Tire. The Shiner Bock was out within the first 15 minutes of the reception, and there was no Fat Tire at all. We had specifically requested that the bartender ask for ID because there were a few underage drinkers there and we didn't want anyone getting too out of control. We also requested that there be no shots served to anyone except the wedding party because they were very expensive, and the only option for the bar is to be prepaid. Well, not only were all the kids drinking but everyone had shots, the bar tab ran $1500 over what we had asked for. Also I asked for ivory linens, which I did get, but the napkins were white. It looked so horrible.. Ivory linens with white napkins? I called Sasha in the middle of our reception and told him that there was no Shiner or Fat Tire, about 45 minutes later it arrived. So he did take care of it in that aspect. But no bride should have to call around asking for what she's made very clear for months before the wedding even occurred. The room looked very nice, the outdoor ceremony was very beautiful. It was only a few minor things, but the only reason it made me so mad is because I gave him a diagram and printout of all the instructions of how we'd like everything. It was in black and white and it still didn't happen. I still had a blast, but it was such simple things on their part I don't understand how they could have been missed.
