Stay away. We had dealt with Gold Star for years mostly because of their great customer service. NOT ANYMORE. We dealt with them for a new dishwasher INSTALLED and after waiting 2 days with no confirmation on a delivery date or time, the dishwasher showed up delivered but they wouldn't install it. We agreed on the extra $ upfront for an installation and now Frank is calling my husband a liar and saying that we dealt for delivery only. REALLY? Why in the world would we have had a converstation about installation fees if we didn't want it installed, Frank?
Maybe someone can come tomorrow to install it.... MAYBE?
I'm so sad to say that GOLD STAR has gone down the tubes. This was once the best place in the metroplex to buy appliances.
After going all over town and on-line, I found the best price for the refrigerator I wanted at Gold Star. The salesman, Eldraidge, was patient, friendly and informative. I had a choice of 2 appliances with one much cheaper than the other. I appreciated feeling no pressure to buy one over the other. It was a pleasurable experience making this major purchase at Gold Star! I will definitely take my business to them again.
Deal with Ted Luther I got excellent Service – I flip homes for a living and I buy appliances all the time. I have done all my dealings there with Ted Luther and don't want to deal with anyone else because he has always treated me fairly. Ted has made multiple trips some scheduled and some unscheduled to my homes to give me advise and help me with my decisions. He is always honest and sincere and if he doesn't have the best deal he tells me that. He has delivered the items himself personally if I needed them to. Ted has given me over the phone installation help and has offered to drop what he is doing and come help me.
I don't know who any of these other people in this forum have been talking to there but I wouldn't buy appliances any where else. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME TED! GOLD STAR IS WHERE I SHOP!
Good luck finding service like this at Sears or Home Depot, those guys have no idea about their products.
Untrustworthy, bad deals, high prices, crooked – They are dishonest.
They're always playing underhanded tricks.
They have the worst customer service.
Their prices are far higher than others (wanting to charge me $180 more than Sears...$150 more than HomeDepot or Lowes).
I called them about a specific size appliance I was having trouble finding and when I asked about whether their pricing was competitive they took an attitude saying...
"Well now.... it seems we're the only ones with the
dimensions you need so you tell me if we're
competitive.".....followed by a smart #@@ laugh.
MBA's review of 3/31/09 is spot on... do not waste time on these hicks. They never learn.
They are jerks on the phone and from reading the other reviews....sounds like they're even worse in person.
SEND THEM A LESSON.... TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE.
Bad Attitude in this place! – Salesman had a bad attitude. Didn't want to hear me questioning their policy on returns. Expected me to sign a waiver saying I couldn't return it. Another salesman made a comment to my salesman as I was walking around : "Don't go into a Ferrari dealership if you cannot afford a Ferrari." These are APPLIANCE SALESMEN telling me this. I can afford a complete Viking kitchen if I wanted it but I sure wouldn't buy it from these A-holes!
Come back to earth guys, you are one step above working at Sears!
Competitive prices,Excellent customer service – I ordered about 6 K in appliances, then a few weeks later some ceiling fans and outdoor lights - all to be delivered on the same day. Since my items were on 2 different tickets, I double checked with Goldstar to confirm that ALL items would be on the truck. Well, delivery day came and guess what? Missing the fans and lights. I called the store and Michael, who assisted me with our original appliance purchase, said he would drive them over immediately. And in freezing cold weather, with some ice on the roads, he did! That's what I call customer service - so rare these days
Ted Luther is tops!!! – We worked with Ted Luther at Gold Star. We have purchased 12K in appliances, both kitchen and laundry, and many lighting fixtures. We have never had anything but expert and informative guidance, as to quality/rating of appliances and lighting fixtures. We have referred people to Gold Star, without complaint, and will be working with Ted and Gold Star whenever we have need for their product and/or services. We have gotten to know several of the employees at Gold Star, and cannot imagine who the prior customer worked with; don't judge Gold Star by one individual ~~ totally unfair.
Good Pricing - sub par service – I ordered, and paid in advance, for ~$10k in appliances 3 months before I needed them delivered. I gave a rough delivery date (week after Labor Day) and then firmed up the delivery date 2 weeks before delivery. Appliances delivered, but during delivery they notified me that there were two things that were not available today (knobs and backguard). Knobs don't hold up the process, but the range cannot be installed without the backguard without creating a fire hazard. It has been a week of "I'll have it tomorrow," and my contractors are still waiting around to complete the range install to do the final finish on my floors and clean up so I can move back in. So far, Goldstar has caused me to spend 1 week more out of my house for a $300 part. Had they told me it would be a week, I would have ordered elsewhere as all other quotes were the same price, 1 week delivery to my house. My guess is that Goldstar will also ask me to come pick it up to add further insult to injury. After I do receive I will update this posting.
If you care only about price, Goldstar is competitive. If you have any schedule constraints, shop elsewhere.
