I know, I know, it's located in a tourist area so I shouldn't expect much. This would be true except for two facts, Sunny Bryan's longstanding reputation and it's BBQ in Texas - seems like you can't go too wrong. Mistake! First the place was totally overstaffed with waiters and waitress who were wondering around, chit chatting and watching the Cowboys game. With all this staff you'd think you'd have great service right? Wrong! Our waitress seemed confused and didn't know the menu (which isn't too complicated). We ordered two large sampler plates so we could try everything. When the food arrived, part of my meal was missing and the waitress seemed almost annoyed that I asked about it "oh, you want that too?". The worse part was that our food was less than hot. Some items were luke warm while others were downright cold. Knowing that all this food is just sitting around waiting to be served made be wonder about the food safety of these items (this food was definitely sitting in the "danger zone"). I had to hunt a wait person down (which was annoying since there were so many of them) to explain the problem. The second version came back only slightly warmer than the first - I decided to give up. I decided on a deep fried item that I knew would be hot - it was adequate. The worse part is that nobody really seemed sorry and neither of the managers I saw wondering around (one spent a good chunk of the time watching the game) ever came to the table to apologise. Also note that the bathroom is in the basement and was pretty dark, dingy and disgusting. Save your tastebuds for some real Texas BBQ and skip this place.

Cons: Bad food, bad service, bad experience

Try the frito pie - it's not on the menu, but it's fritos covered with beans and barbeque instead of chili - and it's GREAT !

Pros: great barbeque, walkable from downtow, friendly

Cons: little expensive
