The other i stopped by this restaurant and have to say to i was pleasantly surprised, after ordering suppa di mare i can honestly say that it was the best i had in a long time, the sauce was so flavorful and the ingredients were fresh, the bread was warm out of the oven and homemade....nedless to say that i am a big seafood lover and know how to recognize a good dish, also the waiter was checking on me and my dad often, he was courteous and even gave us a little info about what we could do after dinner around that area..since we dont live in that area. I recommend this place if you are looking for a good quality meal at a descent price in downtown dallas. By the way, the place is not too big...but cozy and with nice atmosphere and music. I will come back to this place next time i am around.
Blah... Do Not Waste your time or $. The food was plain and boring. No seasoning. We cound not understand the waiter. It wasn't a clean environment. I really wish we would have gone to another venture during our stay in Dallas instead of Ravenna's. Zero stars from my family.
Avoid booking large parties at this place.. Avoid dining at this restaurant if you are considering a large party. I traveled with a large group from the west coast and booked the private dining area for 28. I discussed the menu options with "Kevin", one of the managers and we were all set. In addition, one of my girlfriends also spoke to the manager who committed days in advance that they could accomodate our request. Two days later (and a day before my travels to Dallas from California) I received a call from the owner that he had since "fired" Kevin and that they could not accomodate my party for the cost comitted to me ($17 per person for penne pasta with marinara, garlic bread, green salad and fountain drinks - no alcohol or dessert). Not only was this manager completely unreasonable, he was rude as well and offered no possible solution - other than for me to reduce my menu and cut out the $6.50 salad to meet the $17 price. The next day when we arrived in Dallas, our event ended early so I called the restaurant to find out if our room would be ready earlier (since I reserved a private room). At that point, the same owner told me that he would not be ready for me early and in fact, somebody else was using the room. The room I had reserved for 28 would not be ready until 8:30 at the earliest. Needless to say, my friends and I had to find another location to enjoy dinner - which we did! I would never recommend this place and I certainly wouldn't even give it one star although that's the lowest rating possible.
The best Italian Food I have had in Dallas.. This littlel touch of Italy is in the heart of Downtown Dallas at Main and Field Street, is quaint, a little like downtown in Chicago or New York. I enjoyed it because we could talk and visit while eating a wonderful Italian meal. I had Zuppa di Mare. Wonderully delightful, this mix of seafoods and pasta is fresh and light and seasoned to allow the taste of the ocean to come through. I also liked their wine list. Not the biggest, but selected to mix with what you are dining on. If you want Italian, from Italians that are wanting to please...try Ravenna's.
Watch your belongings & shady management!!.
I'm upset I have to give this place even 1 star...yes, food was good...but service was lackluster. We figured our server was maybe having a bad night & were as cheerful as we could be with each encounter & tipped him well to hopefully make up for a bad night.
BUT THE WORST - Just as we were leaving, I realized I had left my iphone on table (had been checking Cowboys score). We quickly went back inside to retrieve the phone, but the table had already been cleared, & guess what?? NO ONE had seen my phone. Yeah, right. It was late Sat. evening & we were the only customers left in the restaurant! With the short time that had elapsed, & only staff in the building, doesn't take much of stretch of imagination to figure out what happened. Owner was not helpful at all in helping us find phone, & in fact, got VERY upset with me when I suggested I would need to file a police report for the missing item. He even refused to give he his full name or a business card!! What kind of person does that?? Stay far away!!!!
Lacking integrity and character from leadership!. This review is not focusing on the food quality, but rather the customer service. My wife and a group of friends ate here nearly 6 weeks ago. While reconciling our monthly bank statement, we noticed we had been overcharged by $2....taken out as a "tip". The bill already had an 18% automatice gratuity applied, and some of the ladies actually left more "cash" on the table when they left. Rather the $2 was intentional or accidental, we'll never know the truth. However the problem is that we have called (my wife 3 time, myself twice) requesting them to take care of this issue. $2 is not going to break our bank, but it's the principle of taking care of customers and making things right when you mess up....which the management of Ravenna has failed to do, even after 5 calls. They have given us so many run-around answers, it's like a child caught stealing bubblegum and trying their best to get out of it. They have asked for the last 4 digits of our card, which we gave them. They have asked for our address, which we gave them. They have even asked for both of them multiple times. I asked the manager if he just threw our info in the trash the last 2 times we've given it to them...obviously since we have not been compensated properly. I would encourage everyone to double check their bank statements carefully, because they could possibly be doing this to severaly hundreds of people each and every day. The food may be grrrrrrrrrrrreat! but the lack of integrity and character from leadership will prevent my family and friends from ever returning!

Ravenna Italian Restaurant.
I was in Dallas for a tradeshow this past week, I had the pleasure of dining at Ravenna with 3 of my co-workers. We were all in agreement that Ravenna served one of the best Italian dinners we had ever tasted.
The service was excellent and the owner checked on us twice. Very nice dining experience. Kudos to Ravenna.
Thank you very much for your kind words. It's very kind of you.Ravenna Urban Downtown Italian Restaurant & Bar in Dallas will be happy to have you any time you come back to dallas
They add a tip w/out your authorization!!!.
I came in one night after going to a club. My total came out to $30 total for one box of pizza, 4 bottles of water, and I clearly DID NOT tip since this is a cafeteria style eatery .
WELL they added a $5 tip without my authorization and I have my reciept to prove it!!
Watch out for this place because I'm sure they are making a killing by ripping off card users!
I'm very sorry to hear that, it must have been a mistake, however I DON'T THINK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT BECAUSE WE ARE NOT A CAFETERIA,WE ARE FINE DINING ITALIAN RESTAURANT WITH A FULL BAR (the cafeteria is across the street). But, if you are that sure please contact us and we will return your money. This is a honest family owned and operated restaurant (since 1986). We have work ethic and if we were what you are saying, then we would not be here long time ago.
