What People Are Saying About West End Pub

In Short – Dwarfed by the brick canyon of the southern tip of West End, the pub door opens onto a photo-lined foyer. The dark wooden floor, honey-oak bar, etched glass and comfortable chairs convey authenticity while the bartender greets newcomers as warmly as he does the most welcome regular. Meat for sandwiches is sliced fresh daily for popular sandwiches like house-specialty chicken salad, French dip roast beef and the pub stack (corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese).

Editor's Tips

When to Go:
Weekday happy hour is 4pm-7pm. Out late? Go around 11pm--the pub is only one of three West End sites that stays open late.
What to Drink:
Besides a collection of 17 single-malt scotches, the bartender serves the West End Punch, a blend of rums, fresh juices, lemonade and melon liqueur.

Now My Favorite Bar

by Riley1986 at Citysearch

I agree with Tonyo 1's review. West End Pub is my favorite downtwon bar. It wasn't always, but after trying it again last month with some friends going to the Mavs games I changed my mind.

We came into downtown early thinking we would have trouble finding parking because of the Mavs game and a one of the guys said lets park at West End and ride West End Pub's bus. We parked in the lot right next door for $5 and went into the pub for a beer and something to eat. I tried the chili cheese burger. All I can say is AWESOME! The waitress said they make the chili from scratch every day. My date had the chicken salad sandwich. I had a bite and in one word - DELISH. Since that night we have gone back twice and so far service and food have been great. I feel like I am walking into my local bar because the waitress remembers me and what I like to drink.

Great sandwich and potato salad

The potato salad is off the chain and great sandwiches.

This is easily the best bar downtown.

horrible place to have anything!!

by nickelriffic at Citysearch

To begin, I would like everybody to know what horrible service I had here. My bartenders name was tony and he was the worst!! He wasn't to quick to help when we needed it. And believe me, I heard a ton of people around me complaining about his service, so I know it wasn't only me. He was also very rude and unattentive!! Now the food. Well there's not much can I say, besides that is was just alright. There wasn't much to any of it. Some of the things I tried was bland and some of it was okay. I'm not a food critic, but it definitely needed a little work. Now let's talk about happy hour!! Yeah, not too happy!! They hand out free h'or derves, which I understand why they are free because I wouldn't pay for them either way!!! Also, the seating is crowded and the environment isn't to friendly. I think I can end with saying I will never go there again!! Now, if you are looking for a good area to go out and have drinks or some really excellent food, I suggest going to VICTORY PARK!! It's most definitely victorious there!!

  • Pros: food is alright
  • Cons: worst service ever!!

nice attractive bar

by robinedghill at Citysearch

the bar was nicely located. The sandwiches were microwaved and not at all appealing. There was not enough meat to fill the large bread. I was disappointed that it was rated the best sandwich in dallas 2008. It may have won since this is the only restaurant in dallas where smoking is allowed. go there for the bar and not the food.
