My neighborhood cheers!. . The MAT is an amazing place to hang out. People are nice and the staff is great. There is only one male bartender who is a complete a**hole. I wont mention any names, but his name starts with M. This guy will give you an attitude if you ask for extra ice! Avoid the place while he bartends, you will not have a good experience. Everyone else is amazing!!

Awesome hangout!. I have been to the MAT twice now and both times I had excellent experiences! The staff is friendly, and the drinks are great! I will continue to go here as long as its as good as the last!

BEST sports bar. After reading some of these reviews, I have to laugh. People rate this place bad because service was a little slow when they were twice their capacity? I have seen this place standing room only and just like you can't walk through the aisle, neither can the waitresses! Cut them some slack. Most people are rude and never give them room to walk by, either! I have had pretty bad service there before when there was just no excuse, but I think they got rid of those girls because in the last few months service has been great. And expensive beer? Their alcohol prices are normal and slightly cheaper than respective places in the area. And their food is great! I would like to know what the person was eating who posted about the food being bad. I have never had an issue with the food I ordered.

Granted, this is Uptown...you are likely to get some snooty person who expects to be treated like royalty at a sports bar for their super-worthy 10% tip. If you like going to a place where the waitstaff is very attractive, very friendly, and the atmoshpere is very chill and non-corporate, then this is the place for you! If you want someone to refill your water before it's even empty and have issues with food being served in wax-paper baskets...then this is NOT the place for you.

Great Bar, Great Food, Great People.... Fantastic place to hang out and watch uptown go by. I frequent the MAT, as people in uptown know this bar, and I would have to vehemently disagree with the previous reviewer about the food. The burgers are huge, I 'm a big eater, and I usually can't finish one, and they're fantastic. They do good food, not gourmet, and they do it big. Where else can you get a pizza with unlimited toppings for one price? We did weekend brunch there this past Saturday, and the food was fantastic, and as a bonus it's all you can eat! The Migas were some of the best I've had, and we'll be back again this weekend.

Service can be slow on days when 300 people are packed into a place designed for 150, but there's a reason people love to pack this place out. The waitresses are hot, and helpful, the bartenders are also great. Get to know them, and they'll remember you and treat you like "Norm" on Cheers. It's nice to be treated like a regular, even when you only come in a couple of times a month.

If you like beer, they have a pretty good draft selection, not just the usual stuff, and their prices are in line with, or lower than some of the other places in Uptown. It sounds like the previous two reviewers had a bad day or something when they went. The MAT is one of our stops in Uptown, and it will continue to be. I hope the other reviewers will give it another chance, and realize what a great place it really is, heck, find me and I'll buy you a beer!

Worst food ever...even for a bar. Definitely would NOT recommend this place. The food was HORRIBLE and the wait staff was less than impressive. I hang out in uptown all of the time and like to try different places. However, this is one place that I will not be returning to.

The MAT. Service was HORRIBLE! Had to wait over an hour to get a simple soda and I only got it then because I went to the bar to get it myself!!! Was packed during the game...then kind of cleared out. Bartender and waitstaff were less than helpful. On a side note, I also had the supreme Displeasure of seeing some guy expose himself to his table! Come on now, we're all supposed to be adult enough to drink in public and not be that stupid. Beers were seriously overpriced. When leaving, the valet handed me my keys but failed to tell me WHERE I was parked-he also seemed surprised that I wanted him to GET my vehicle for me. I would not recommend this to anybody unless they want high prices, packed in like sardines, AND bad service.

Service? What service?. I am a frequent vistor to this part of Dallas and I have been to the McKinney Ave Tavern at least 3 times in the past year or so. They have a nice location and a decent selection of draft beer. That said, the service is invariably horrible. The waitresses seem to go out of their way to avoid looking at a table of customers. And they resent it when you do get their attention and ask them for something. The bartending staff is only marginally more helpful. They just can't be bothered. I am done giving this place second chances.

Best Damn Sports Bar. As most places in uptown go, the beers are not going to be the lowest price in town but I consider it well worth the cost for locals as we can walk home after. The crowd usually dies down after the games/in the early evening leaving locals and regulars to sing karaoke or just have a great time kicking back and conversing. It is not a place to go if you are looking to dance or are looking for great drink specials. It IS a place to go with a group and watch your favorite team and have a great time.

Affectionately known as the MAT, this Uptown tavern is a popular haunt for sporting fans of all kinds.. In Short
When a game is on, Uptowners sporting their favorite team jerseys and caps crowd the place. Televisions affixed everywhere (including the patio) ensure that patrons needn't miss a touchdown or a slam dunk. American pub grub like buffalo wings, seven different types of burgers including a hickory BBQ burger and Philly cheesesteak sandwiches are favorites of the house. Extensive beer and spirits menu keep thirsty fans happy all game long. Service is fast and friendly.

Uptown loves the MAT. The MAT (as regulars call it) is the place to watch the game. TVs everywhere, in this clean, comfortable uptown bar mean that whatever team you follow is on somewhere. Like any great place, it will get crowded for big games. The staff is almost as good looking as the clientelle, and they will take good care of you!
