What People Are Saying About Gingerman

In Short – Imports and domestic abound; more than 70 taps line the wall behind the bar. A friendly staff and comfortable surroundings offset the fact that the bar is located near trendy Uptown. Serving beer since 1992, the Gingerman also offers live music, wine tastings and cigar events. Picnic tables line the beer garden in the back, leaving ample room for the bands that play on Saturday nights.
Editor's Tips
- When to Go:
- Wine tasting and cigar events and an Octoberfest blowout are just a couple of special events Gingerman holds every year. Call for more information.
- Look Good:
- Tuesdays is Logo Pint Night. After 4pm, buy a beer and keep the glass that features a beer logo.
- The Extras:
- Snacks and sandwiches are available: standard Reuben, or venture out and order the turkey and cranberry sandwich.
Cool, laid-back uptown bar

I love this place. It's unpretentious, and they have a great beer selection. The patio has heat lamps that they turn on when it gets chilly, which I love because you can enjoy your drink outdoors even in the winter. I prefer the patio anyways, since it can get pretty crowded here. Sometimes they have live music too. Getting a drink at the bar can take awhile when it is really busy, but it's like that at any popular bar. The staff is nice, and the crowd there was too. Decent prices for Dallas.
- Pros: Good beer selection, great atmosphere
- Cons: Limited parking, but it's uptown, so what do yu expect
Last Call Nightmare

I love this beer house. I have been displeased with the way it is being run on weekend nights, however. I was at The Gingerman Saturday night, 8/11, sitting outside at a table with friends at about 1:45 AM, when my waitress informs me last call will be at 2:00 AM. A minute later, a rude and pushy bouncer informs us it is last call NOW and that we have to get up from the table we occupied for 3 hours and move inside where there was no seating available. At 1:50 AM, he informed us that we had about 30 seconds to finish the drinks we had JUST purchased or he would be forced to take them and pour them out.
I don't appreciate being forced to chug an $8 beer meant to savor I purchased 10 minutes PRIOR to last call. Management should set last call at 1:45 AM if they are going to have thug bouncers bullying patrons before closing time.
The Gingerman offers an excellent selection of beer, however the quality of employees and their actions are a serious disappointment.
- Pros: Good Beer
- Cons: Crowded, Poor Service
Best beer selection and best beer garden in Dallas!

We have been going to Ginger Man since it opened in Dallas in 1992. Besides the great patio seating on the front porch and the beer garden in back, we love the friendly staff and are usually greeted by our names. Only problem I have is the poor ventilation. The second hand smoke is terrible inside the bar, so we only go there on nice patio days! The beer selection is the best in Dallas, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.
- Pros: Great patio, fantastic staff, giant beer selection
- Cons: smoky inside the bar, limited food selection, limited parking
Great beer selection

This is my favorite place to hang out and never have the same beer twice. Massive selection of beers on tap and a great way to become a well-versed beer connoisseur. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Casual atmosphere and killer brats and kraut. Also have a great sampler with different kinds of cheese, fresh bread, hard salami, olives, etc.... Patio is a great open place to enjoy a spirited conversation with friends or your sweetheart.
- Pros: beer lovers heaven
- Cons: parking sometimes limited
Heart of Austin in Dallas

Starting with the facts...three tables and two picnic tables out on the front patio, two dart boards inside, jukebox, numerous outdoor seating in the back. Probably the best outdoor atmosphere of the "G-spots" in Dallas, Austin, and NYC (I don't remember NYC having one). I haven't been to the one in Houston. Great beer selection. Basic pub grub of which the beer sampler and turkey cranberry are my faves. I always enjoy the tall Purple Haze on tap. Go there on a quiet Sunday - Tuesday if you just want to hang out and chat with buds.
- Pros: Outdoor seating, Beer selection, Bartenders
- Cons: Spotty waitressing, Slow food service
