Get in touch with your inner TEXAN here!. Great place to just meet up with a friend, kick-back, delete the corporate-business vocabulary and just be authentic Texan. No pretentious menus or wine lists and they proudly don't make an excuse for not having one. They are just real good boys making real good Texas food. My favorite is the brisket quesadillas and a cold Shiner on tap. A local treasure that one never tires of.

Nashville does BBQ better!. A cute place with gingham tablecloths, boots on the windowsill and horseshoes. The food is very mediocre. The ribs were bland. The brisket dry. The waitstaff was polite and attentive. Better than Sonny Bryan's at Macy's but still not great BBQ. I had - way - better at the North Carolina airport. No kidding.

Avoid this place. We were in Dallas from Houston and decided to go to this restaurant based on recommendations from this site. We were very disappointed and see why this place did not make the Texas Monthly Best 50. My companion had the Barbecue chicken which was dry, overcooked, and almost tasteless. I had the combo ribs, sausage, and brisket. The ribs were actually pretty good being tender, tasty, and have a good a good smoke taste. The brisket was very dry, tough, and did not have the have taste of barbecue. The sausage was OK but not memorable. Even the side dishes were mediocre at best. I had the beans and potato salad. The potato salad was good, but the beans of all things were almost tasteless with little spice added. My companion had the mashed potatoes and squash casserole. The potatoes had more peal than potatoes and the squash casserole was very bland. Even the peach cobbler, which the server built up, was a disaster. The peaches were obviously canned with what appeared to be a canned biscuit crust. Even the Blue Bell Ice Cream had ice crystals. I had the salad bar which I enjoyed. The service was good, but the food made this a miserable outing. If this place was ever good, it is resting on its laurels and needs to take a serious look at the poor quality of food it is serving.

Service and dessert is good. First time visiting Dallas and Peggy Sue's was recommended by a friend. The BBQ was not as good as the reviews state. I had the Rib Combo, the meat was very tender but I thought the dry rubbed spareribs lacked flavor. The spicy bbq sauce was very tasty so I used alot of that. The summer squash casserole and peach cobbler are worth the trip. My friends had brisket and chicken and said that was very good. Service was fast.

Small Portions. This is good BBQ, but you get very small portions for the price. The restaurant needs remodeling, its very old and grimmy looking.

Gotta go. I asked the concierge at the hotel I was staying at for an authentic Texas BBQ place. He said that this place was a little out of the way, but well worth it. He was right and then some. The Combo (Baby Back/Spare ribs) was awesome. The hot sauce is better than the mild. If you're in the Dallas area, you would do yourself a favor by stopping by.

This restaurant in Snider Plaza dishes straight up Texas 'cue, circa 1955.. The Scene
Photos and soundtracks of Roy Rogers, horseshoes on the walls, vintage signs and old-style booths put this place squarely in the 1950s. There's even an advertisement from a predecessor restaurant showing sandwiches for a dime. Peggy's is the third restaurant incarnation in this squat building since more than half a century ago. And it packs in a varied crowd--college professors, families with strollers, and diners wearing leather pants.

The Food
For decades, Peggy's cooks have been perfecting not just their rendition of Texas 'cue, but veggie dishes as well. Succulent spareribs, savory brisket and spicy sausage all delight the carnivore within, but vegetarians would do well by Peggy's, too: crispy slabs of onion rings and Southern-fried okra are crunchy but not greasy, and the lightly cooked spinach and green beans rival Memaw's. The peach cobbler is delicious, especially with Peggy's ice cream.

18yrs Living with Peggy. Great sides, great sauce,great meat,great people! After eighteen years of lunches at Peggy's I had to move away. Always will miss it.

good enough to be a 10. Not only some of the very best bar-b-que I've ever eaten, it also has wonderful sides and other dishes. The food stands alone, even though the value is exceptional
