Editorial Review for St. Martin's Wine Bistro – by Holly Hickman
The Scene
It's located on Greenville Avenue, but St. Martin's is more Hapsburg frau than hipper-than-thou. Gilded frames anoint 17th- and 18th-century portraits of cherubs and apple-cheeked women. Dark, glossy woods, tiny crystal chandeliers, Roman friezes, hefty bar and a host of books create an ambience that's half library, half saloon. A pianist plays Chopin and other classics.
The Food
American fare with French flair dominates. An extravagant champagne and Brie soup coats the spoon--and hot, crusty French bread--with its velvety richness. A tuna and potato-leek soup is chunkier and spicier; a sophisticated take on gumbo. The seared sea scallop dish is popular: caramelized, citrusy and lightly crisped, and bookended with thick, refreshing orange slices. The scallops surround a bed of creamy spinach couscous and are topped with hot slivers of red bell pepper. Beef tournedos mingle slices of beautifully seasoned meat with portobello mushrooms, mashed potatoes and lemony broccoli.

We love this bistro. Great service, quiet & relaxing atmosphere and great food make it a no brainer for that memorable night out. Superb wine selection--the only thing lacking from their wine menu is a nice pinot noir from Oregon's wine valley.
Cons: Parking can be a challenge

St. Martin's is our favorite special night out place to go in Dallas. The food is great and our favorite is the escargot appetizer. The rich, creamy sauce is perfect to dip your bread in after the escargot are gone (which wil be quick!) I've been here multiple times and never had anything less than superb service and great food. Also, the piano player is very good and will play requests!
Pros: Romantic, AMAZING service, best escargot around!
Cons: None I can think of!
