A non-hole-in-the-wall hole-in-the-wall

by thelostgirl

This was the first Chinese restaurant I went to after moving to Dallas from New York. Pretty good... no Chinatown, but good enough that my brother and I have gone back a few times and the food is consistent. The dumplings, both fried and steamed, are flavorful and the meat filling is not diluted with a lot of cabbage. The beef lo mein was good as well. The noodles are only of passable consistency but the sauce they use really makes the dish - it's indescribably delicious, sweet and salty and not too thick while still covering every noodle and piece of beef. The General Tso's chicken my brother ordered was alright. He thought the flavor was good but could have been a bit stronger. He ordered it a second time, though, so it can't have been too bad! The wonton soup was repeatedly disappointing, though; both the broth and the wonton were impossibly bland. My brother had the same reaction to the sweet corn soup. Luckily, the crunchies on the table were fresh and light, not too oily.

The waitstaff was attentive, though we sometimes had to wait for water refills as they filled take-out orders, of which there seemed to be many. The restaurant itself, situated in a strip mall, is unexpectedly comfortable inside; there are plenty of booths, the lighting is soft and warm, and the ornate tray ceiling really dispels any hints of hole-in-the-wall atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend Snow Pea for a quiet night out.

  • Pros: lo mein, good location
  • Cons: boring soup

This place is disgusting

by TellingTheTruthdotcom

PLEASE do not go here. The food was horrible and gave me and the people I went here, upset stomachs. We arrived at around 7 pm one Saturday evening, and it was kind of weird that no one was there. The place is dark and dim and not so very clean inside. The AC vents were all dusty and there was food splattered on the walls. It was disgusting. We received our food which seemed okay, but I had stopped eating it as it started to upset my stomach. Later that evening some other people arrived and sat at the table next to us. They had to move tables because there was a BU G on their table. There were also a couple of flies in the restaurant and got in our food after we somewhat finished our plates. PLEASE do not go here. It was a horrible dining experience and only ended in upset stomachs. :(

Fast and Good Delivery

by johnandjule

We usually order delivery, which is fast and fresh. The portions are plentiful and reasonably priced. If you want good delivery or take-out in old East Dallas, this is the place.

We recommend the Mu-Shoo-anything!
