Hubby went there yesterday. He remembered the hamburgers from the 80s being delicious. But the meat they are now using tasted like it was from elephant hides. He didn't realize that they didn't accept cards in a cashless society so he was made to leave his military ID card while he went to the bank. He returned to pay them and by this time he was sick. He puked right at the front steps. He got his id back and still was charged for the hamburger on the pavement and steps at the front door. Very rude people. Don't know what keeps them open. No more trips here.
Not White Rock Lake's best.
We were seated within seconds of our arrival. We tried two tables, both of which were dirty. The floor looked pretty dirty also.
Within 20 minutes, we had our order in, recieved hot food and had begun eating.
The restaurant in well known for their beer buscuits. I am sorry to say that they were heavy and crumbly and had an odd sweet taste. My guest and I had breakfast for which they are also well known. I am sorry, once again, to say that the food didn't have much taste. We used a lot of salt and pepper, which helped. My guest thought the eggs were done in oil with little or no seasoning.
Now for the positive stuff: very nice people and very quick service. Lots of dedicated customers. We just didn't like it.
Great Breakfast Spot after White Rock Workout.. Very good food at a very reasonable price! Sure to fill a hungry appetite after a couple of spins around White Rock Lake. Eggs, potatoes w/ bell pepper, onions, and cheese, 2 big biscuits, and coffee for $8.00! But be prepared to wait for a table. This place is popular on a weekend morning. However, the beer biscuits are well worth the wait!! Can't wait for the warmer weather to try out the patio.
Great Breakfast Spot near White Rock Lake. I love this place for breakfast - on the weekends when I'm moving slowly. This isn't a quick in and out on the weekends as the place gets really busy, but waiting for the patio is well worth it when the weather is agreeable. Basic breakfast food yet very affordable. The service usually comes with a smile, although there have been a couple times where the server ignored my table. It's a VERY laid-back atmosphere with a good sized menu and perfect for a lazy Saturday morning!
Unless you want to deal with an unprofessional manager by the name of Debbie horrible customer service!. I will not set foor in this resturant again because of the bad customer service I received especially from the manager Debbie. I also feel like the resturant is dirty.
Best Breakfast in big D. My husband and I ate at Barbec's for the first time after moving to Dallas and loved it. The breakfast is so cheap! $4 for eggs, sausage, gravy, hashbrowns, and two of the biggest and best biscuits I have ever put in my mouth! A must!
Home feel, great food. I love Barbec's! It's a cozy joint where you can get great food at an affordable price. I run into many White Rock/Lakewood locals and everyone inter-mingles. It's a nice change of pace from the regular Dallas stuffiness. I highly recommend their biscuit sandwich!
Disappointed. Tried on a Saturday morning. Food was average. Eggs served under cooked with whites still raw. Wheat bread was very dry. Biscuits were dry also. Many better places for breakfast in Dallas
Breakfast institution near White Rock Lake draws sleepy neighborhood residents and fitness-minded folks fresh off the lake trail..
In Short
This large diner buzzes with activity on weekend mornings, as the tables fill quickly and servers pour coffee. Seating is available at the diner-like counter that provides a view of the freshly made beer biscuits waiting to be dispersed. The menu is comfort food American, with breakfast taking the spotlight. Omelettes, bagels, and other egg dishes are popular, but the burgers and chicken fried steaks provide a solid alternative.
Great breakfast spot. Although they offer food for every meal, this spot is great for breakfast. The have beer biscuits that come with gravy. The omelettes are good and if the weather is nice, sit on the patio. The earlier you arrive the better, the line picks up a lot around 10:30am-11am.
