The Scene – Biernat's is a combination of an ancient Pompeii-style domus dressed up with modern decor. The open dining area has tea-stained vaulted ceilings and archways with sturdy Corinthian pillar supports. Antique, wooden pocket doors are used as partitions for the more than 30 tables and leaf-patterned booths on the perimeter. Circular booths seating eight back up into a standing-room-only curved bar that sits under a colorful, domed ceiling. – – The Food – Baked goat cheese with roasted garlic and portobello mushrooms served with semolina toast is a solid start.…

If you like grazing animals with horns, this is your place!

by KurtWvS

This is a relaxed biz-casual steakhouse favorite of mine. It has a Mediterranean setting that my wife and I are always pleased to visit. More than the creatures that go “Moo” it also has popular swimming and flying animals cooked up just right (yes, non-beef entrees that are very tasty). AB's serves wonderful Pan Seared Sea Bass over the best Lobster Risotto I've ever had. The Australian Cold Water Lobster Tail, the Colorado Lamb Chops and the Elk Filet make my mouth water just thinking about em.

It's not super quiet like some dead library, because Dallasite business folk keep flocking to this place. Why?

Well their beef is from Allen brothers and is grain-fed, Prime Rated (it’s among the top 2% of all beef sold in the USA).. yup, coming from the best Midwest beef purveyors in the nation. And there are two steaks provided exclusively for Al Biernat's alone from Allen Brothers: 1) The dry-aged bone-in NY strip and, 2) The dry-aged bone-in filet.

Wet-aged beef is by far more prevalent in the Big D these days. There’s more involved with dry-aged beef-prep but the flavor seems to be more concentrated. AB’s service, atmosphere and quality of cuisine are uber-superb! Please try their Veal Osso Bucco if you get a chance. Al and Brad have become our personal friends over the years. They and their team are polished, gracious and have integrity as hands-on professionals—they really know what they're doing. This place is truly EXCELLENT with a capital E. Enjoy! —Kurt von Schleicher

  • Pros: Few have both dry-aged and wet-aged beef as this place does.
  • Cons: Got my glasses on, but can't find cons...

Amazing with every detail

I have been to many of the high end steak houses around the DFW area and I have to say that this steakhouse is in the running for my #1 spot. From the moment we did valet to the time we picked up the car our experience here was above excellent.

We had reservations and we were taken right to our table, no wait and no problem. Sat down and before I could put my purse beside me we had bread and a server with menus and a wine list. We ordered a bottle of wine for our anniversary and decided to take our time. I ordered the filet "oscar style" between medium and medium well and it turned out perfectly! It melted in my mouth! The bernaise sauce and crab meat on top was the perfect touch. I can't say enough about that steak. The smashed potatoes were great and the sweet potato soufle was incredible! Our server was very prompt and made sure our wine glasses were full. We were brought a complimentary piece of cheesecake with fruit and writing on the plate. We are already planning our next trip back! You will love it too!!!!

  • Pros: steak, special occasion dining, ambience
  • Cons: none

Great food, great service, a little too noisy

by lavlily

My husband and I ate at Al Biernat's for our anniversary. We had 8:30 reservations and were seated around 8:45 (not too bad in my opinion). Our server was very polite and helpful, and we were able to sit in one of the big booths. They have an amazing salad list - I got Al's Salad, which was good, but not quite what I was expecting, and my husband got the Wedge salad, which he thoroughly enjoyed. We both ordered the Filet Oscar, which was so tender and flavored perfectly. The waiter apologized to us for the "long wait" between the salad and entree, although neither of us felt like we waited that long. At the end of the meal, the waiter brought us a complimentary dessert for being so patient (which again, we didn't even think we had to wait too long!). While the food and service was great, it was a little noiser than I expected an upscale steakhouse to be. Tons of people crowded around the bar, so my husband and I had to talk very loudly to hear each other. I guess many people is a sign of a popular restaurant, though.

  • Pros: great steak, wonderful service, nice decor
  • Cons: a little noisy, had to talk very loudly to be heard across the table
