What People Are Saying About Mattito's Mexican Restaurant & Cocina - Dallas

In Short – Every room is an explosion of color, with bright walls and paper star-shaped lanterns. The floor-to-ceiling windows afford a view of the tranquil front patio covered with wisteria vines. The house specialty is chili relleno stuffed with beef, chicken, vegetables or seafood, sprinkled with raisins and pecans. Order like a regular and ask for Bob Armstrong dip: ground beef, guacamole, cheddar cheese and sour cream. Save room for sopapillas, a bargain at $2.29.

Average Tex-Mex

I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD, and with the plethora of Tex-Mex, Mexican and even Spanish offerings in the Dallas area MATTITO'S IS NOT ONE OF THE BEST! I don't mind going... yes, chips and salsa are fine, patio is decent... but the service is usually haphazard, and the food quality is so-so.
Let's compare.... Manny's, Mia's, Uncle Julio's, ummm... Gloria's even! You can get better so-called Tex-Mex at the Salvadorian restaurant! Another great option low on the radar---Mario's (Lemmon Ave)!! Great service, great menu options, delicious guac, tender flavorful brisket tacos! STRONG margaritas and many to pick from! Not expensive...
Skip Mattito's and head elsewhere!!....
Service horrible, food not so great either

I went on a recommendation. Very disappointed, should have walked out the door when the hostess was rude from the get go. Waitstaff was just as bad.
We went for a girls night out, there were 5 of us. Hostess sat us at a tiny table. Not enough room for all our drinks and food.
The waitress was rude and argumentative. She forgot my drink. We had 2 vegetarians, she didn't know which items were vegetarian on the menu and and seemed po'd that we would even ask.
Lots of sighing and rolling eyes by the waitress. When she brought items she would slam them down on the table. Scary!
The only nice people were the bus boys who kept our water/tea full. We ate our small basket of chips fast. I ordered a full queso that ended up only half eaten because we never got anymore chips!
Ate the avocado enchiladas which were creamy but bland. Margarita was okay. Not a place I would ever go back. Manager needs to be fired. Everyone who wrote good reviews must have started with some strong margaritas first --
Awesome!!!

My boyfriend and I went to Dallas for a 3 day vacation. We wanted to have a nice dinner and this is the place we decided on. BEST DECISION EVER! Got there about 30 mins before closing time and they didn't rush us at all. The chips and salsa were amazing. Our food was delicious and came out about 10 minutes after we ordered. Friendly waitstaff and laid back atmosphere.
Fun atmosphere, great food!

There are a lot of Tex Mex places to choose from in Dallas, but this one is a cut above. We were there as part of a large group, a company party, and Mattito's was perfect for that. Attentive wait staff were right on top of things - even with our large group. The colorful, festive atmosphere was great for our 'fiesta'. The food was the best part. Everyone with our group was happy with their order. Can't wait to take my family back to the place with me.
Best Restaurant for Tex Mex in Uptown

Mattito's is my favorite restaurant for Tex Mex food! The "Bob Armstrong" dip is a must! I don't think it's on the menu so you'll have to ask for it. I love the beef fajita salad - their orange chipotle dressing is awesome! Baja chicken is delicious, too! In fact, everything I've ordered from the menu is superb! The atmosphere is fun and festive. The wait staff are friendly and always go above and beyond. I go often and have never encountered inadequate service. I like that valet parking is offered as parking is limited so it's very handy to get out right at the front door. Mattto's Sunday brunch is very popular so be prepared for a wait (I think brunch starts at 10:30am) but it is well worth the wait. Their selection of food is enormous! The chocolate fondue is my favorite! They are accommodating to children as I've taken my young son several times. Definitely check it out - you won't be disappointed!
- Pros: Great food, friendly staff, top notch customer service
- Cons: None
