In Short – Cherry and mahogany walls, white tablecloths and terrazzo floors combine 1930s swank with today's technology and obsession with prime cuts of beef, dry aged on-site. The 1,800 varieties of wine that line the walls of the wine room features a good price range. Steak, lamb or veal entrees vary from 10-ounce prime strip to 26-ounce porterhouse; seafood includes market-price, live and cold-water lobster. The popular steakhouse salad features sliced fruit and candied almonds.
Editor's Tips
- What to Drink:
- Award winning sommelier Drew Hendricks maintains 33,000 bottles of wine which is highlighted by top vintages and producers.
- Save Money:
- Average dinners run about $85-$100 per person, but you can get out for less--just don't mistake per-shot or per-glass prices for bottle prices.
- The Extras:
- Cigar lovers congregate outside for post-dinner puffing in cooler weather (Troy Aikman and Jerry Jones maintain private cigar lockers in the Fireplace Room). Cigars, $15-$60, include the Opus X, 1964 Padron Anniversary series. Cartering is also available.
JUICY, melt in your mouth!!!!

When I think of STEAK Pappas comes to the forefront of my mind!.... thick, juicy, top quality beef that is full with flavor yet not a mouthful of gristly fat like some cheaper steak places.
Always cooked as you order, and the service is IMPECCABLE including the gargantuan, dizzying wine list!!! Be impressed but don't expect a quiet meal! This place gets rowdy and loud with close quarters and big corporate drunkin' shin digs. Location kind of blows unless you like the questionable surrounding area of liquor stores and strip clubs. It is still worth going AT LEAST ONCE!!!!!!!
Great food, drinks, and service. What else do you need?

A night to be remembered. I have eaten at steakhouses in many states and overseas, and Pappas is the best I have had. The steak just melted in my mouth. The appetizers were amazing (I tried the crab cakes, mac and cheese bake with lobster, and bacon wrapped scallops). Dessert was unique and delicious as well. In addition to the great food and infinite drink list, the service was outstanding. They treated me like I was the only guest in there even though they were packed. My wine glass never got below half before it was topped off and the manager took time to greet us and chat a bit with us. The best steakhouse I have ever been to.
- Pros: appitizers were outstanding
- Cons: a 100 page wine list can be taken as good or bad
Great steaks!

- Cons: Can be a bit pricey
EXCELLENT

Great by all standards. The reception, the ambiance, the service, the food. Pappas Bros is one of the very few that writes the standard. Many a restaurant can learn quite a bit from this wonderfully managed establishment. Could get expensive when choosing from the extensive wine list, but not necessarily if you simply choose a moderate bottle. The Lobster Bisque, yummm, THE Steak (NY Strip is our favorite), The Desert, can u say MOON-PIE (enough for four). There is little that this place does wrong. HIGHLY RECOMENDED. Have been over a dozen times and cannot find a fault. Can't wait to go back again!
- Pros: FOOD, SERVICE, ATMOSPHERE, FOOD, SERVICE, ATMOSPHERE, REPEAT...
- Cons: NONE
Best in Texas

Their reputation as the best steakhouse in town is well-deserved. Elegant without being fussy or uptight, the service was understated but attentive and the food...WOW. The fried oyster appetizer was the best oysters I've ever had and the ribeye steak (this is Texas, and that's our steak) was perfection
- Pros: the service and the food were as close to perfect as possible
- Cons: expensive
