What People Are Saying About Daddy Jack's

The Scene – SMU students, musicians and folks who just like a good crustacean pack this place. Daddy Jack's is a dark, inviting little place; in one room, brown paper tops black tablecloths under a black ceiling next to a black bar. In another, huge vintage posters decorate brick walls. Netting walls off a tiny sitting area with red benches--very opium lounge. – – The Food – Stellar seafood is the main draw here. A velvety lobster bisque and a perfect clam chowder taste fresh from New England. A superb wood-grill salad hosts bits of artichokes, bacon, and blue cheese.…

Editor's Tips

Save Money:
If you like lobster, check in during the week. Twelve bucks gets you an entire beast, versus $17 on weekends.
Parking:
Try to find a meter or you'll be stuck shelling out $10 in nearby lots.
Look Good:
Daddy Jack's offers a World Master Chef's Menu: three courses designed for you, at $30 or $45 with wines.

stay away!!!!!!!!!!

by Olif at Citysearch

My "cons' have pretty much summed it all up. We went there because we had two $50 "DFW dining" gift cards that this restaurant accepts. I forgot how much exactly our total bill was, but it was somewhere between $50 and $100. So we give the waiter both cards. He came back and told us that his manager said that they can only accept one card (for whatever reason), so we actually had to pay $20-30 out of our own pocket for seafood that would look bad even if you compare it to Red Lobster!!!

  • Cons: bad food, bad service, dangerous location (at night)

Great Food and Service

by megasue at Citysearch

This is a favorite restaurant of mine because everyone there is very friendly, the food is great, and I like the Deep Ellum location. Awesome specials, so try those for sure. Nice wine list with informed servers as well. I like the low lighting and overall decor. Definitely worth trying if you haven't yet!!!!

  • Pros: Ambience, close to Reno's Chop Shop Saloon and Deep Ellum entertainment
