Wow! Talk about an incredible night..... Headed out with friends tonight and decided to visit Sambuca for cocktails before getting the party started. The bartenders were amazing! Delicious drinks coming from such welcoming staff made us decide to stay a little longer and grab some bites in the bar. Good choice! We sampled a few different appetizers with our cocktails (I would recommend the sea bass skewers or the goat cheese stuffed artichokes)... and then then band came on.... Wow!!! We ended up staying into the night dancing... Loved every minute! Drinks, dinner, dancing... no where else to go.
I don't know what to think. I've had two experiences with this restaurant. I went a few months back with a friend and had a great time. The drinks were good and service was good and the food was ok too. However this time around was a lot different. I was looking to celebrate my birthday with some friends and called to make a reservation for a group of 10. I spoke with host named Gabriel. I asked about a semi private area a friend told me about. I asked about the cost and availability. He said it was no cost but I had to have 8 or more people. I repeated that I had 10. He said in order to secure for a party that size I had to secure it via e-mail with my cc. I asked again was it available and he said yes. After some confusion I received the contract filled it out and sent it back immediately to hold the room (or so I thought). The contract stated that I would get email confirmation. I did not. The next day I called. Host said he received e mail but attachment I sent came back unfilled out. Anyway I resend AND fax info. I call back and he has received. I then ask about set up in semi private area in order to decorate. He said I didn't have that area but I would be in regular seating. What???!! Then he tells me that cc authorization only guarantied seating and private room would cost me $2000.00. WHAT?? Now I'm upset. I drive to restaurant to speak to management. While host is getting management I talk to a waiter. I ask him to show me the semi private areas and he takes me to 1 spot and very confidently says I could book thru catering w set menu or order $17 minimum per person from menu. Then Jamie in catering approaches me. I told her what I wanted and the many different stories I had been told. Jamie was cordial but cold. Said I could only get this semi private area thru catering at a minimum of $45 per person. And very dryly says " thanks for coming by, we'll see you tomorrow". I'm sooo confused and pissed at this point. I call my friend who referred me who also happens to be an event planner and has used the space she referred to me. She tells me there is more than 1 semi private area. SHE then calls Jamie and is treated very rudely and when she mentions this other semi private space Jamie says " it can't be reserved for a party that small" and then she says " it can be reserved for a small fee". My friend then asks "Well which one is it and why didn't you offer her the area". Jamie says "She didn't ask". My friend asks her for the number to corporate or an email and Jamie said they didn't give out that info. I called back and canceled my reservation since it was very apparent that for whatever reason they didn't want me or my friends there. I told the host Gabriel that very thing and he seemed more than happy to cancel. Again.. I don't know what to think.. But I will NEVER go back and will NOT recommend to anyone.
Great Service, Great Atmosphere, Great Time!!!. Being new to the Dallas area, I have been trying out the different restaurants the city has to offer. I came upon Sambuca Uptown just the other night. A girlfriend and I had an overall delightful evening. We started with a refreshing Martini called the Pomtini. If you try a Martini there, you must chose that one. Then we stayed for dinner. I was pleased with all the choices on the menu. Our waiter was attentive and very pleasant, and suggested I try their Champagne Chicken. I must admit, it was delish!!! As if the drinks and dinner weren't enough, they also had a live band playing. I can't wait to come back and experience this place again!
Great food, great band!. Loving Sambuca in uptown Dallas! My boyfriend and I went for a fun night out wanting a good meal and some dancing and we loved every second! We've been a couple times now and there is always a great band playing (I've experienced a dance band, acoustic rock, and alternative country--loved them all) and always have had a great meal. Great concept! I've also been to Sambuca's happy hours and got premium liquor HALF OFF! No brainer...I'll be back!
Sambuca Uptown a Night to Remember. Sambuca Uptown is a beautifu restaurant. I came through the front door and felt like I was on a runway walking up to the host stand. (It's very sexy) I went to the restroom and felt like I was an old Hollywood star. I made it to the table and was served a top notch meal and enjoyed great entertainment. I would recommend you try this place out. You will fall in love the way I did.
A McKinney Ave Jewel. Wanted to have some good food and listen to Live music. Although the Band sounded like a typical "wedding band" on the weekend, but the food and service was awesome. We had the Sea Bass Skewers for an appetizer which was to DIE for served with a Ponsu sauce and asparagus. Salads followed and perfectly timed by the Spinach and Gorogonzola salads. Our drinks were fantastic by the way, which was a house specialty the waiter recommended. I believe it was called a pomtini for my girlfriend and a mojito for me. The wine seemed overpriced, the bottle of La Crema Pinot Noir couldn't have tasted better with my Chili Rubbed Scallops. My girlfriend ordered the Petite Filet cooked to a perfect medium rare. Our waiter must have been busy because we never saw him, except when we needed him. The Silent Service is a plus. I can't stand when waiters talk your head off. If i did i would go to Fridays and spark up a flare conversation.. NOT MY STYLE. By the way you have to try the crab augratin if you like seafood, which we do. We were hesitant in ordering the donut holes but glad we did cause we shared as it was the perfect amount and ending to an awesome meal. We have made reservations for Good Friday and really expect nothing but the best. OH and to the guy who sweats so much at a restaurant. Try telling someone like the waiter or the hostess. These people are in the service industry and are there for you. Plus, you could have gone to the bar and danced with your wife as much as you wanted. Oh wait, though you might have sweated some more and really stained your car. You dropped $70 dollars, dude get real that just means you ordered maybe two entrees and filled your belly with the free water.
Great food, if you could ear yourself think.... I highly recommend the food, but you shouldn't take an old friend or a business client, since conversation is drowned out by the music (which was jazz and I'll admit I'm not a fan).
Terrible experience at Sambuca Dallas. Called to setup a reservation at 7 p.m. and find out when the band started. No one answered the phone. Instead, a machine picked up. Left a message. No one called me back. Set up a reservation though Open Table for the next night. Their website has no information as to when the band starts playing (they need to correct this). Showed up at 7 p.m. Place was completely dead. Why you need a reservation is beyond me. Food was ok. Wasn?t expecting four-star cuisine or anything and I wouldn?t go there for great food--just wanted to take my wife dancing. Wait staff said band would play at 8 p.m. Later on, wait staff said band would play at 8:30. Obviously, there?s no schedule. It did start to get more crowded around 8 p.m. The restaurant was incredibly hot temperature-wise. I was eating and sweating. Even my wife was uncomfortable with the temperature. The waiter was also sweating. Left and there was a stain in my car beneath the center console from the valet. Never heard the band play, dropped more than $70, and my wife never danced to a single song. Also, will have to dry clean my clothes from the sweat and clean out the stain in my car. Avoid this restaurant at all costs.
New Years - great food but lousy drinks.
A group of six were at the 7:30pm New Year's Eve seating. Upon arrival we ordered drinks and only the glass of white wine was acceptable. Two cosmos were all cranberry juice even though the ladies asked that there be little cranberry juice. The two Absolute vodkas ordered on the rocks were so watered down they had no taste. The same with a Dewars on the rocks. The cosmos were returned and one was made properly the second time, the other person lost confidence in the bartender so went to wine - hopefully we were not charged for the cosmo never consumed.. The two Absolute drinkers suffered through their drinks but vowed to not have seconds. The Dewars was returned and corrected. All this too about a half hour before we had acceptable drinks.
Table service was fine on a very busy night and the food was outstanding. When the bill came there were "Cover Charges" that we hadn't been informed about and the $75 per person fixed price meal was charged at a higher rate. We were being rushed out so they could seat the 9:30pm reservation group -so we weren't able to deal with the bill discrepancies - just charged it off to a poor experience.
WOW,WOW,WOW. I've been to a couple dozen upscale restaraunts in Dallas and while the bulk of them have been pleasant this place sticks out like drop of red paint on a black and white painting. It is absolutely amazing. The staff is incredible, friendly, fast and knowledgable. If Don Juan Demarco was alive he'd take his woman here due to the dim, romantic and euphoric feel it has. The food, TO DIE FOR, try the Sea Bass- It'll melt in your mouth and you'll be thinking about it for days. I've eaten at over 120 4-5 star restaraunts and this is in my top 5. A MUST IN DALLAS. Total price I paid for 4 glasses of wine an appetizer and 2 entrees-$135 not including tip.
