Dallas >Food & Dining > Anderson's Barbeque Catering
BIG MIKES IS ALLRIGHT. This place is like a BBQ cafeteria. That means most of the sides sit under the warmer - which sucks. I like my food to not only be made fresh, but to look fresh. After I tried just about everything, I would say the cheesy corn bake and green bean come out on top. The BBQ bean weren't half bad either. The meat is where Mike's excels - The ribs feel off the bone and were just smokey enough. The links had a great pop, and the brisket had the flavor and showed a lot of love was involved in getting it done.
Best of the Best!!!.
I have been going to Anderson's BBQ for over 18 years. I go no where else for my bbq needs while in the DFW area. Mike Anderson makes your sandwich for you himself and then sends you on "down the road" to help yourself to the most amazing sides you could ever put in your mouth! Go around 11 or even 10:45 so you can to beat the line that goes out the door, that's how good this place is. I still do not understand why people go to the other bbq place(SB) around the corner, talk about rude service and they are skimmpy on the sides.
To comment about Mike being rude......I have never seen anything but a smile on his face in the 18 years I have known him and I have become friends with him as have 1000's of others. He owns this place , yet he is there day after day serving us the best bbq in the world. That is RARE! to the guy who wrote that, if that story is true....Give Mike another chance and write that off, as he is Human, and we do have bad days. You do not know what he might have been going through that day or week. I'm sure you have blown up at people yourself. Your just hurting yourself, cause he really does not need you to succeed and your friends are more than likely already Mike Anderson customers....lol ( if they work around UTSW)
Very good BBQ that's NOT from a chain restauant!. There is a reason why this restaurant has a line out the door during lunch. The meats are very good and moist. They have a huge variety of sides which are very very good and it's a cafeteria style restaurant. The BBQ sauces are very tasty too. This restaurant is very homey and it can truly be seen as a TRUE TEXAS BBQ place.
Authentic Texas BBQ.
I was in Dallas last year for work and I happened to stop at Mike Andersons BBQ for lunch. I knew I was in the right place for BBQ when I saw two things: 1.) A line that streched outside the front door, and 2.) cafeteria style!!!!! When I have to travel to Texas for work I am interested in two things: ribs and Texas smoked brisket and this was the jackpot at Mike Andersons! I tried a three meat combo of ribs, brisket and the sausage and all of it was amazing, besides the meat being smoked to perfection the BBQ sauce they serve was amazing! I have to go back to Dallas soon for work and I know without a doubt I will make a stop at Mike Andersons BBQ, and this time I'm taking a bottle of that BBQ sauce with me.
NOTE: I read the negative review and I have to say I think that person is just one of those people. I saw how busy this place is at lunch and they do their best to keep the line moving so everyone can have their lunch in a timely matter and get back to work. Sometimes you come upon that one special person who just doesn't get it and thinks that they deserve special treatment for their ten bucks. I really hope people can see past one moron and give this BBQ joint a try, you won't regret it. But if you go during lunch, be curtious and take a minute to read the menu before you get to the counter, I did (it was my 1st time there and common sense in a place that busy should tell you to be ready when you get to the counter to order) and had no problems.
I do not work for this restaurant not do I have any financial interest in them, I just know it is great BBQ and i you are a sensible person they are really great people to meet.
Mike Anderson's BBQ House and Catering Company.
Hey there! This is the "cashier" that the previous man spoke of.....Mike's wife. Two sides to every story! We are a cafeteria style bbq. This guy had 30 people, mostly on a limited lunch break, behind him. The line was out the door and growing.
When you are at a place that is that busy, look around! If you don't know what you want then take a step back, let other people go ahead of you until you have looked at the menu and do know what you want...simple courtesy.... That's all Mike was trying to say before this guy blew his stack, told Mike to F*** off, things got out of hand and this one sided story got posted. Without writing a book on the matter, this guy's viewpoint is a tad bit slanted and the story of what actually happened is altered.......
This guy is right, there were tons of witnesses to this...many of them regulars here which have come back to eat with us and have thanked us for not putting up with people like him.
If only "common sense" were common...........
sidenote: we feed a lot of this guy's co-workers, on a daily basis in fact, in spite of him bad mouthing us to them......makes me wonder if he's one of those people that you autimatically "take with a grain of salt" when he gives an opinion.....makes ya go hmmmm
Hungry between 10-230, get Mike Anderson's BBQ..
What to order:
For a first timer, definately order the large sandwhich plate with chopped beef. It comes with two sides, Mike's cheese bake is amazing, and the other sides are sufficiently good. If you are feeling adventurous order the "spudzilla", a gigantic baked potato with your favorite meat, cheese, and other toppings. Don't forget to get a free ice cream cone when you are done.
Mike takes pride in his work, evidenced by the fact that he chops and serves each of his customers on a daily basis. The place has plenty of seating, inside and out. The atmosphere is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to this place. Caution, the lunch crowd is huge, if possible try to eat a late lunch to avoid the rush.
Overall Mike Anderson's is my favorite BBQ joint in Dallas because it has the full package. Good brisket, great sides, easy to read menu, and a large seating area. His competitor down the road, Sunny Bryons, has great brisket and a few good sides, but reading the menu is difficult, and seating even more difficult.
Who am I:
I am a medical student and BBQ fan, and every city I live in, or travel to, I search out the best bbq. As of yet, Texas Brisket is still my favorite.
Owner and Staff are Rude Folks - They don't need your business. According to the cashier.. Don?t go to Mike Anderson?s Barbeque unless you know what you want and you order it fast. It was my first time in this restaurant and the food smelled great. When I got to the man slicing the meat, I told him I would like double sliced beef. I then asked him what other varieties were available. He looked up at me and stated, ?You need to hurry up and make a decision, I have other customers I need to get to.? He then said, ?I have chicken, pork, sausage, pulled pork, etc?? I said, ?I?ll have the pulled pork?. Then I paused for a minute and thought about what he said. I asked him to repeat what he said hoping he would apologize for the rude comment. Instead he said, ?I have other customers to get to? I said, ?All I asked was, what type of meats do you have?? He said, there?s the board, you should have made up your mind before you got here. I handed him back the plate and said, ?My mind is made up and I am not eating here? As I pushed the plate back to him, he said, ?I am going to kick your ?blank?. Shocked, I invited him to do so. He walked around the corner by the register and stood 2 inches from my face. I told him to go ahead and swing at me. There were lots of witnesses and I needed the money anyway. Frustrated, he walked back to the counter and started slicing for someone else. I asked the lady at the register, ?Who was that man who lost his temper with me?? She said it was the OWNER!! Mike Anderson. I said, ?Well, this will be my last time in here.? She said, (Get this) ?We have been in business for over 25 years and we obviously do something right. We don?t need your business.? Can you believe that? This was my first time in here and I was going to spend over $30 for me and my family. Since I now work around the corner, I probably would have been back at least 10 times in the year. That?s about $300. Probably would have brought additional friends. I guess they don?t need that money.
Since 1981, this barbecue lunch joint has been dishing choice cuts in a playful setting..
Patrons get in line and order from the counter, where meats are freshly cut and served. The dining area has wooden tables and chairs, as well as several booths. After getting an order, customers fill their drinks and find a seat. The meat lovers menu offers sandwiches of various sizes and dinner plates. The barbecue choices include brisket, chicken, turkey, pork ribs, polish sausages and hot links. Sides include double breaded fried okra.
