I needed auto repair work done on my Mercedes Benz C280,
I looked around for an Independent mechanic shop, (not a dealership)
The car ran great at high speeds, but had a rough idle at stops and
low speed driving...I saw Marshall Motors every day on my drive
to work off of I35E & Royal....
So I bring the car to them and I ask for a diagnostic check be done
on the car to determine the cause of the rough idle...I was quoted
$110.00, and that there was no discount, (despite their website stating
$45.00 off first time customers) and that none of the $110.00 would be applied towards the repair, I m also told it would be several hours to get
this done....so I m given a ride home and I waited....several hours
later I was called and told that they were not sure what was wrong
with the car and that I needed to have a compression test performed
on all 6 cylinders (at a cost of $186.00), and that there was a
knocking/rattling sound coming from the timing chain area, to fix this
noise it would be approximately another $400.00-$600.00 dollars more .....and that this would not guaranty that the bad idle would be fixed.....I got very upset and told them to button up the car and not perform the work...that I would be there in a few minutes to get my car....It took me 30-45 minutes to get there and the car was still in the shop service bay area with the hood still up and not out and ready when I got there. So I had to wait another 30 minutes I spoke to the manager/owner? about the repairs and he told me they could not ever give a guaranty on auto repairs....I paid them their $110.00 and left.....two days latter I took the car to Auto Hans Inc., and had them do the auto diagnostic test, and Alex tells me that he is not sure what is causing the bad idle, but said he performed a temporary fix to get the idle smoother and that I could continue to drive the car as it is or leave it with him to give a better
evaluation and possibly repair it. I decided to drive it home and it was 80%
better but not 100% fixed (oh by the way Auto Hans Inc. did not charge a dime for the temp. fix) The next day I took it back and left it with Alex to repair. I was called 2 days latter and Alex said it was the ECU that needed to be replaced and quoted me $761.00 out the door tax/labor 100% fixed...with a guaranty!!!
So far the car is running great and there is nothing ever wrong with the timing chain or with the engine compression of any of the cylinders....As far as I m concerned MARSHALL MOTORS did not properly diagnose the
problem and were just guessing at what was wrong with my car.....
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MARSHALL MOTORS TO ANYONE!!!!!
I have nothing but high marks for Marshall Motors. I read the negative review and am really puzzled by the description given by this individual. Jim and I have used Marshall Motors for 25+ years and we are pleased with their service and the manner in which they manage and care for our vehicles. We are fortunate to have an internist who cares for our health in the same manner. We do not use Doc in the Box nor Pep Boys!

Marshall Motors is a place with no integrity! Read my horrible experience below...
Last week I see a great deal for a full synthentic oil change plus 32 point inspection in "less an an hour" on Groupon. It was from Marshall Motors. I went ahead and made a purchase and called them up to make an appointment and the guy asks me if I had a coupon. I told him I purchased the deal from Groupon and this guy goes on and on about how it was a deeply discounted deal and that it could take up to 2 1/2 hours! I tell him that their ad states that they will do it for "less than an hour." He and I argued back and forth for about 30 minutes and he finally tells me that he'll find out and get back to me on Monday.(today) Come Monday, I don't get a phone call all morning so I call them and some other guy answers and makes an appointment for me and tells me it would take about 30 to 45 minutes for an oil change plus 32 point inspection.(I didn't tell him it was a Groupon deal this time) Same day in the afternoon I finally get a call from the first guy and he tells me that the Groupon made a mistake in stating "less than an hour." (Really? Then Groupon just came up with "less than an hour" statement? I don't think so.) I told him I made an appointment with another guy and this guy tells me there is no appointment (really?) and that the does not know who worked around lunch time and made an appointment for me which was merely few hours ago! Then he tells me to go ahead and get a refund from Groupon if I don't like it and basically hangs up the phone. I call up Groupon and explain the situation and they tell me that they would not list any service detail not provided by the advertiser and gave me a full refund.
I want all consumers to know that if these people lie about a small service like this to a new customer, I wonder how much they lie about other bigger services and rip off their customers.
You know how sometimes after a small experience like this with a business you get a sense of how the rest of their business would be like? This was definitely one of those experiences! Over an hour wasted with a bad taste in my mouth!
I would NEVER recommend Marshall Motors to ANYONE! I would rather pay a little more and get my oil change done else where!
Best Customer Service EVER! – If I could give Marshall Motors more than 5 Stars, I would!! I took my 2003 Audi A4 1.8T into their shop for the first time in October 2011 to have routine maintenance like my timing belt and water pump replaced. They completed that work, as well as replacing my entire vacuum system, which had multiple leaks in it. The entire experience was filled with friendly, helpful, and competent people. The biggest thing that happened was that after my maintenance repairs were made, January Marshall did her best to help me out when other issues cropped up, and I wasn't in the Dallas area. She made suggestions on mechanics in a couple of different cities and has given me the most incredible customer service of my life!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
