Steer Clear. I went to FS on Coit Road to have a loose curl perm put in my healthy shoulder length hair. I have used Sun-In in the past and told the stylist this before she started. She said it wasn't a problem and proceeded to perm my hair. When finished, the first four inches of my hair was frizzy and kinked and the rest was still straight or frizzy. She then tried to cut off the straight hair to allow the rest to "bounce up," which resulted in uneven layers starting ear-length. This did not help at all and the stylist ended up suggesting trying to shampoo the perm out (also did not work) and then spent over an hour drying my hair straight. This entire process took six hours. The stylist proceeded to charge me full price, as well as sell me 'reconstructive conditioner' to repair the damage and said she would try to perm it again in two weeks, saying as I left "good luck drying it straight." I had wanted to have my hair done due to a vacation I was leaving for the next week, and waiting two weeks with hair I could not even run a brush through was unacceptable. I found another salon willing to repair this disaster, and went to FS the next morning to show the manager the damage and seek a refund. The manager was initially rude, telling me it was my fault for the bad perm as I used sun-in and had not informed the stylist of this until after the perm. As I had told the stylist up-front before beginning and she said it was not a problem, I insisted on a refund and was told "it is against corporate policy to give refunds for any reason." She eventually reluctantly gave me a 50% refund of the perm itself. The salon I visited next was able to remove the perm but forced to cut my hair ear-length to remove the damage. My husband and I both have used FS for haircuts for over a year and found the results to be inconsistent but have continued to go due to prices--you can bet we won't be going back again after this.
