I love Whatchamacalit Fashions. Hello Sir, i think you are taking this situation way out of context. I love whatchamalcalit fashions, my entire family (the women of course) have bought several dresses from thier store. I do not apporve of you shaming the store and being negitive towards the owner. You are obviously over exaggerating the entire thing. I do not apporve of men wearing dresses. I mean seriously people do we really want to see men purchasing and wearing FEMALE dresses? No, if my child or family ever saw a man wearing a dress, they would be shocked, confused and perplexed. I live by the word of god and the bible and man must live as a man and a women must live as a women. Whatchamacalit is an amazing store and you need to quit your complaining. Just in my opinon, thank you and have a great day. God bless.
do not go there. the place is the most unorganized store i have ever been in. the dresses were falling apart and they were still hundreds of dollars. the dress my daughter chose was over 400.00. no refunds. after we got it home we realized it was missing a piece. too late, cant return it. the dressing room area was so crowded and cramped. why are there young men working there?. the dresses were cheaply made and way to expensive. i will not recommend this place to anyone.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! DO NOT SHOP HERE!.
Worst experience ever! I was prom dress shopping with my daughter, daughter's friend, my friend and their dance instructor who is the reining Miss Gay Texas. Michael absolutely loved this store until yesterday. He frequently purchases dress there for all his competitions and knew all the sales associates (SA).
When the SAs saw him walk in they were all over him asking if he needed help or a dressing room. He told them he was there to outfit our two girl that day. We had a fine experience with the service and Terrion was a jewel. We were looking at the $700.00 range dresses plus shoes-the whole prom experience!
Then Michael said there was a dress he'd like to try on for his upcoming competition. He went discretely into a dressing room and the owner came flying over behind him.
The owner, A heart attack about to happen in a nasty tshirt and shorts asked is "he with you" to our group. You could hear the disgust in his voice. We answered "yes". He asked us the same question three times. Then he proceeded to tell us how that was not allowed in his store, it would upset his customers, his reputation was at stake etc. He then wanted us to "comment" of his rantings which were done very loudly and caused quite a scene.
I told him I had "no comment" He never would tell any of this to Michael himself he would only look at me. I told him I just felt sorry for him and his view of the world.
This situation could have been handled so much more delicately and not have embarrassed our friend in front of our girls. Our girls have studied dance with him for years and are very accepting of peoples' differences.
We left the store never to return. Your money is not good here. The prices on the dresses are all negotiable so please if you do go there DO NOT PAY FULL PRICE. Plus they pick and choose who they sell to.
The owner is a homophobic, greedy walking heart attack. He made a total fool of himself yesterday and showed how discriminating he is. The sales staff was very accepting but not this man. He has sold Michael so many dresses in the past and choose to make a statement yesterday. It was totally mishandled and all this in front of my girls.
We were considering several dresses but there so many other stores to shop in. We ended up at Macy's, wonderful experience and if you charge your purchases on your Macy's card you get another 20% off.
Do Not Shop or Use Alterations Service Here. My daughter and I went shopping for her senior prom dress. From salesperson to salesperson, information was not the same. My daughter needed alterations for her dress. Our salesperson recommended these breast pad inserts that aren't permanent versus another alternative that was being offered through the store's alterations services which were to be sewn into the dress. When I asked the pricing difference, the sewn in alternative were less expensive than the non-permanent alternative. We decided to use the alternative offered through the alterations service to save some money, but when we turned around to pickup the pads, we noticed they had been taken away. They explained that if we wanted to use the sewn in pads that we needed to go into the alterations room and secretly request them from Tina or Danny because the store's owner was not allowing the sewn in breast pads to be sold anywhere in his store and that this particular salesperson could lose her job if he found out she had shown us the sewn in alternative. As silly as it sounds is as silly as I feel writing this, but at that moment I thought, what are we doing here and why am I bothering myself and exposing my daughter to this insane business practice. I needed to go under cover to buy some breast inserts for my daughter's dress??? So I proceeded into the alternation's room and watched as Tina would sell these inserts for $25 to which I was initially told these inserts would be $15 which also included the charge to have them sewn into the dress. My daughter had FINALLY had enough...and turned to me asking if we could just leave and she'd find a dress someplace else. Thank you...Thank you...My smart girl knew she didn't want me to spend our hard earned money in this place. Don't waste your time or money in this place. There is not one thing redeeming inside this store. The dresses inside the store can be found on the internet and in other stores for MUCH less priced and clothing alteration places are on every corner.
Stay Away. Went with my daughter just to look and get ideas. Well of course she found one she just had to have but after looking at the price I told her that we could keep this in mind but that I wanted to look other places first. Well the assoicate that helped then started pulling at her heartstings telling her that if she didn't get it today that it would be gone and that you can't get this dress anywhere else. I proceeded to ask about the layaway policy and she told us we had 60 days to pay the dress off. It's my daughters senior prom and I want it to be speacial so I said since we had 2 months to pay it off in that I would get it. Well once the sale was done and we called in our next payment low and behold we were told we only had 2 more weeks to finish paying the dress off. I stated that the sales associate said we had 60 days from time of purchase and the lady told me that if you get an extended layaway time that it needs to be noted on the slip. Guess what--our associated did not note it and we have 2 weeks to come up with balance or lose our money and the dress. This place is a rip off. When asked to speak to a manager she said she was the manager and that there was nothing that could be done. I will tell all my friends and my daughters friends to stay away. The associates are pushy and do not care about anything except for a commission.
Please don't shop here. Went with my daughter today to buy a dress. Was greeted, when i said my budget was $300 for a banquet dress, I received NO SERVICE. HORRIBLE. OVERPRICED and NO SERVICE. Seriously?
Whatchamacallit Fashions. I loved this store, the dresses were beautiful..My daughter and I went looking for a prom dress (jr yr.).. I absoultly loved the dresses.. But if you are on a budget like I am this is not the store for you... I was really looking for something cheaper for Jr. year.. All the dresses that she liked were in the $400 range. Could not find anything cheaper... But like I said loved the dresses.....
I just got done shopping for prom dresses with my daughter and her very "ungirly" friend.
There was an amazing selection (literally over 1000), from short homecoming type dresses to full on pageant gowns.
We found there was a great price range, I saw lovely, good quality dresses on clearance for as low as 49.00
The best thing about it was the amazing, friendly and helpful sales staff. ... especially Althea, who got us dressing rooms, kept up with our selections AND helped us find dresses withing each girls price range.
My daughter found a beautiful dress that she instantly fell in love with! It was a bit small on her and the last on the rack and Althea went and dug about in the back room and actually found one in her size!! They also had a record of who else bought the dress and were able to tell us that no one at her school had purchased one!
Daughter's friends parents are from a place where they don;t have proms and didn't really understand all the fuss.
Althea was understanding and compassionate to her, and even offered to talk to her mom.
She didn't try to "force" more expensive dresses on us at all.. and even gave the girls a hug when we were done!!
I would recommend this store to anyone and if you go, find Althea!!
Great place to get a prom dress!!!. Great selection and service. This was the last place of the day and I am glad we stopped by! We finally found THE dress for my daughter. The service was by far the best... attentive but not intrusive. The owner thanked us for our business. I highly recommend this place!!!
Awesome Shopping day. This store was recommended to me and I stopped on a trip to Oklahoma City. The staff was great and my sales person (Althea) was awesome. The owner was there and he was so nice and easy to work with. I had brought my dad who hates shopping!!! He said it was the most pleasant shopping experience he has ever had. I found a great dress and would highly recommend this store. Everyone in the store had a great attitude. Miss Slidell 2010 and Miss Lousiana OT 2008 April Nelson
