What People Are Saying About Ruth's Chris Steak House

In Short – This offshoot of a popular New Orleans hangout for politicians features decor of dark woods and comfortable booths, with a separate bar scene. Choice cuts of custom-aged beef arrive in sizzling butter on 500-degree plates. The menu also offers chicken, pork and seafood entrees along with Creole appetizers like shrimp remoulade. Family-style sides include gargantuan onion rings, creamed spinach and various styles of potatoes. Traditional homemade desserts like cheesecake and bread pudding conclude the meal.
For all of the rave reviews, I can honestly say that my one experience will be my last!

Our waiter was forgetful beyond belief for a restaurant of this caliber.
To start, we ordered a round of cocktails, the Escargot with a bottle of the paired white wine, along with a Mushroom appetizer since there were three of us. We also order our entrees with sides. Nothing complicated, or so we thought.
Our cocktails were served to us in reasonable amount of time. We all finished our initial drinks and after a period of time with completely empty glasses and no sign of the appetizers, I managed to gain the waiter?s attention and order another cocktail and to check on the appetizers. It was only when the second round arrived that the waiter admitted that he had completely forgotten about the appetizer but that ?it? was on its way.
The Escargot soon arrived with our waiter?s apology and added confession that he had also forgotten to enter our Mushroom appetizer but that he would put a rush on it. We asked him to simply forget about it and we would do without. When it became obvious that our waiter was not going to return anytime soon with our wine and our appetizer was getting cold, we went ahead and ate. The bottle of wine showed up but only after we had completely eaten the Escargot, all of the bread, and flagged someone down and asked for additional bread.
Our entrees arrived and the server asked us to check our steaks. I never dreamed that a medium-rare steak could be completely cooked to death and that badly in my life! My steak was closer to well-done! Only after everyone has finished with their meal does my replacement steak arrive, again over cooked.
I will close by stating that everyone has a bad day once in a while and that even the best restaurant in the world can have an off item or two come out of the kitchen. I completely understand this fact. But when things go this badly and you are presented with the bill for over $400 with no compensation other than an insincere apology, my only return is this account of my single and last experience.

Is it inexpensive? No. But it is worth EVERY penny. Been to RC in 7 different cities and it is consistent from city to city. Outstanding in every way!
Consistent top quality steakhouse.

I have been going to Ruth Chris' Steakhouse for many years. They have always provided attentive, yet unobtrusive service and consistent quality prime steaks. When I take quests to a restaurant, I do not want surprises. I want to be assured of memorable meals and good service.
Ruth Chris' does just that each and everytime.
- Pros: Always satisfied, Excellent service, Great steaks
- Cons: Expensive

You know you are in for a treat from the moment you walk into this place. Formal yet relaxed atmosphere compliments the superb service and outstanding fare. Every piece of meat I have tried here has been perfectly prepared, tender and mouth-wateringly delicious. A companion had the lobster one night and it was quite large and perfectly prepared. For a treat, order the onion rings, huge and sweet, piled high and plenteous. Service is attentive yet unobtrusive, as it should be.
I highly recommend this dining experience to all Dallas visitors and residents. If you love steak, you owe it to yourself to try Ruth's Chris.

Service was excellent. The steak was great, plus the huge mound of shoestring potatoes. The Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake was terrific as well.
