Best Calzone in Dallas.
The best calzone in the DFW area? I believe it is. Or at least it was today!
My wife and I stumbled into this small joint at Frankford and the Dallas North Tollway, without realizing we had found the gold mine of calzone in a rather non-descript exterior just down the shopping strip from Fuddruckers. We almost didn't go in! Thank St. Christopher, we did.
My stomach must have been guiding me by some mysterious power, but I could not quibble with its perspicacity. This luncheon treat $6.95 including a salad and drink, was the Triple Crown Winner of Calzone!
1) A buttery, flaky, browned to perfection crust. Winner of the first race.
2) An interior (up to three selections of your choice) mixed into a bed of ricotta cheese, perfectly blending with the just right amount of mozzarella to make it a slightly chewy. Winner of the second race.
3) A slightly spicy and acidy marinara to act as the counterpoint to the buttery crust and blended cheeses. Winner of the third race.
Mama mia, thatsa great calzone! And one more little slice of heaven as if the above were not enought -- this thing is huge!
I'm going back to tomorrow, just to make sure I wasn't dreaming the entire experience. Somebody pinch me!
Ouch! Let's not be that literal, Okay!
Sure, they have a menu but....
... good luck ordering anything from it. Called to order a manicotti and Chicken Parmigiana, was told they were out of Chicken Parmigiana so I ordered a Chicken Alfredo instead. Placed the order, was told to expect delivery in 50 minutes.
Five minutes later the restaurant calls and says they're out of Chicken Alfredo. Okay, I said... do you have ANYTHING with chicken? Garlic Chicken pizza? Pesto Chicken pizza? Chicken Stromboli?
Nope. They were out of EVERYTHING with chicken. I asked why they bothered having a menu in the first place, then canceled the order.
Good luck with Angelo and Vitos -- I won't try them again.
Great slices but poorly run and terrible service. Eat at your own risk. The pizza is great (assuming they have any). However, expect old slices or none at all. Service is lackluster and lazy. I never know when they close. Sometimes its 9 at night, sometimes its 7:30 when they're "closing". Last time I went on a Sunday at 1:30 in the afternoon and they were out of pizza again. Wwas told it would be 6 minutes but 30 minutes later, they hadn't put a pie in the oven. Makes me wonder if the owner knows whats going on. Its shame to have good food, but poor managment that can't run a pizza joint. Oh well, there are others. Dine at your own risk, but they've lost me as longtime customer for the last time.
Never going to order from this restaurant again! Poor service, poor product.
Just ordered for delivery for the first and LAST time. Ordered the Manicotti, extra garlic sticks, and a cobb salad add chicken. What we got was luke warm manicotti, ONE garlic sticks...which really wasn't garlic, just a bread part. My 'cobb' salad was missing 1/2 the ingredients and when I called to complain they told me they were out of some of the items. They didn't seem the least concerned that they charged me for chicken and didn't add it. I was charged 7.99 for lettuce that would at good restaurants be included with your meal as the house salad.
Will never be ordering from this place again. Do yourself a favor and do pizzaexpress or chef chu for great food and great prices!! POOOR POOOR POOOR, customer service and food!!
Editorial Review. Small chain dishes a variety of Brooklyn-inspired pizza by the slice or pie, plus salads, sandwiches and calzones.
ADDICTIVE. This is the best pizza I have ever had. The slices are huge, and the dough is so fresh. The staff is very friendly and will take the time to find out what you like from their menu. I recommend beating the lunch rush as the parking fills up fast, but the food is always good any time you go there. Must Try It!!
Best Crust. How do they manage to get the crust so thin yet not hard? Love the texture of the fall apart thin crust. The toppings were fresh and abundant and good quality. Best pizza I've had in a long time!
Best Pizza In Dallas. This place has so much to choose from! Not only that but I'm not sure if it's their fresh ingredients but something makes this pizza look and feel healthy, it's not greasy. And they have this drink Orangina that I've only been able to buy in Canada
BEST PIZZA.
I stopped by for a slice to go. The server was very knowledgable about the products.
I get home with my HUGE slice of pizza, at a great price... I take my first bite, and I can't put it down. This pizza is better than any pizza chain I've ever had. It has the perfect mix of flavors, and it was just a pepperoni pizza slice. I highly recommend this pizza.
