Dark, dank, and nasty – We came from Lewisville to meet on the Denton Square to purchase a CL item from a student. It was around Noon Sat. and we saw a hamburger shop. Upon interring the business, it was dark and smelled of mold. We should have left then, but the kids wanted some fries. You drop them in hot oil, they should be safe? As we waited in line we saw the cook handle trash, wiped their hands on their dirty clothe and went back to making burgers. The salad bar looked like it had never seen a temperature below 80 degrees and had something growing around what we thought were beans. After waiting 15 mins (they had no fresh fries at noon) we got our fries and they were cooked in old oil, and were gritty or dirty. We took the fries back and ask for some more and explained the problem. His reply was "I clean tables; I did not grow the potatoes or cook them. As he reached a cross our table is butt crack was in my children’s face (yes he had no underwear and those low paints the kids ware, but he was old. His smelled like beer and smoke. As we got up to leave we saw the line double in size as their employees were walking out taking smoke breaks. Are there no health codes in Denton? This is what your Denton Square offers travelers from surrounding areas to come experience. WOW! Good luck with THAT!
arguably best burgers in denton! – great burgers, fries, chicken fried steak sandwich. i love the cheese fries- a meal on its own. very nice staff, a little dark but good for kids (we sit all the way in the back near the kitchen so we don't disturb many people, and there's plenty of room for a stoller back there).
Go there for fries, not burgers – I got there at 2:15 pm, Tuesday April 3, 2007. A little late for lunch, but a full 45 minutes before they close. Seeing a flat grill (one solid piece of metal) behind the counter, I requested a hamburger and asked the guy to grill my onions. His reply was "our onions are chopped, so we can't grill them." Having had chopped grilled onions before, I was confused, but didn't question.
He then made my hamburger, which took a total of 15 seconds. This told me two things: 1) the food is not fresh 2) the reason they "can't" grill onions is he didn't feel like turning the grill on.
I got a side of fries. 35 fries (mostly halves, and yes I counted) at $2.25 = $0.15 a fry. The fries are clearly made from real potatoes, not frozen, and they were really good.
If you ever go there, I recommend the fries. Avoid the burgers.
Best Hamburger's in the World – I found this place while going to school at UNT back in 1990 and make sure I return as often as possible for their hamburgers. Don't make the mistake of visiting on Sunday or the morning of Fry Street Fair as their closed.
