One of the worst Indian Restaurant

by Paresh1983 at Citysearch

Mayuri is one of the worst restaurant I have eaten in US. The food is not fresh and is not prepared well. They also takes lot of time to serve. I will never go to this place again.

  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Food is not fresh

No need to head east to Dallas : Best Lunch Buffet

by sbktex at Citysearch

The practical Indian/American (almost came out American Indian!) dilemma - if the lunch buffet is so good, who's goes for dinner? WITHOUT Mayuri, once in awhile you have to have a fresh cooked a la carte dinner, where the spices and prep (and hopefully ambiance) just take you away and calms the exotic palette. Enter Mayuri, where the lunch buffet is delightful - fresh (maybe high turnover), and always seems to have at least two extra/more selections then the upscale-ish DFW competition. Proably a buck higher then second-best-buffet ( the Pasand's), but well worth it. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL INDIAN RESTAURANT !

  • Pros: Freshest, wide selection buffet
  • Cons: None known, but never ate off menu, only buffet

Never again!

I agree with other reviews about their take out orders. I recently ordered take out for about 20 people. When i went to pick it up(on time), most of the items were cold and didnot seem fresh. When I enquired politely, they were rude and suggested that it will be ok if i take it home and heat it!

Good South Indian food - decent rates

by akshay at Citysearch

Mayuri is primarily a South Indian restaurant and to that extent, their south Indian offerings are good. I would strongly suggest staying away from their north Indian offerings, till the time you are used to eating North Indian food cooked in South Indian way, with South Indian flavor and spices.

The buffet is a mess, since tons of people show up. Ordering from menu is the best option. With quite a few South Indian options around, Mayuri should actually drop its prices a little bit since they dont offer anything out of the ordinary. The whole experience of dining with them is simply average - from quality of food, to service to sitting arrangement to decor etc.

One major drawback is that during peak time, you can have a bunch of people sitting right next to you, and with no music being played, there is no privacy. You can also hear the clinkering noise of the forks and spoons etc.

Overall an average place to visit.

  • Pros: Average South Indian food
  • Cons: Can get cluttered and noisy, service deteriorates fast during peak times

decent food, horrible service!

by indifoodie at Citysearch

I am not surprised to see another bad review about To Go orders. We are regular customers at Mayuri and they did accept our catering order (to be picked up) for about 13 people. The food was to be picked up at sharp 11 am for an office party. I confirmed this with the manage/owner when I personally went there to place the order, so no telephone conversation confusions...I even asked if I needed to call to remind them on the day of the pick-up, they said no need. I still called at 10.45, no body there was even aware of my order, I kept calling and finally went there at 11.15 to see what's happening. After waiting for another 15 min, finally I got the food. What surprised (?) me the most was that the owner/manager did not even have the curtsey to come out and apologies, forget about offering any discount on the cash only payment! He would not even talk to me even when I specifically asked to talk to him. Needless to say, I was highly embarrassed to be late to the party and keep everyone waiting for food! Won't recommend it to anyone anymore....

Forget abt Indian Resatuarant - Its Worst among all The restaurants

by vinay17in at Citysearch

I have been to Mayuri - Houston and moved to Irving recently. With impression I had with Mayuri Houston, I just went to Mayuri - Irving.

Wow!!! what a horrible food, there was nobody sitting in the restaurant, I was a bit suspecious. But all my doubts were proved when I served few things from the buffet served by this restaurant. None of the food item was cooked on that day, each and every item was served from the left over of a day before.

There was a huge pile of Naan in the buffet but all of them were taken out from the freezer and applied some warm butter on that. I asked for the fresh Naan, I was told that "They are very busy". Even me and my family were the only guest dining in the restaurant.

Please don't even think to go there, you will spoil your day.!!!!

Worst customer service EVER!!!!

by shivster at Citysearch

My last visit to the place was a bad one .. the dosas were soggy but I gave them the benefit of the doubt ... enough to consider picking up a catering-size order for a party of 14 ppl. My wife and I visited the place a few days before to make an order and after being made to wait 10 minutes for the manager, we were greeted with a smile and he asked how many people were being served in the party .. the minute he heard it was 14, he brushed us off saying that's too small and they're used to bigger sizes. (ALTHOUGH their menu says they cater big and small).

What follows is a verbatim account of the conversation that took place:

Me: Can you guys recommend something, since it's a smaller party? maybe just pack up some entrees or ...

(he cuts me off)

Manager: No...No...we don't cater small groups....

Me : Well, it's 14 ppl ... don't think of it as catering ... we'll pick up the food ..so you guys don't have to

(he cuts me off again)

Manager: No...anyhow saturday we are catering over 200 people..we're too busy to accept orders....no! (looking impatient with us)

and that was that...we left in quite a hurry.

So apparently ... .there exists a restaurant in uppity los colinas that will not let me pick up a to-go order for 12-14 people ... though if we had a bigger order, maybe we'd be treated with some dignity as a customer.

What's funny is that we checked out the stellar restaurant "Our place" a few hours earlier, and while they were booked on saturday, they were decent enough to apologize and make recommendations of other places we could try. Mayuri just categorically "flipped us off".

Never visit this place ... you're just encouraging these jerks to continue behaving like this.
