Great italian Food

by SP14112

Mi Piaci is my favorite Italian resturant. The ambiance and food are absolutely wonderful!! The pastas are freshly made and the seafood is always done right! Love the torto fusio chocolate cake and is a must have! Everything is great on the menu and I have never had a problem! I would suggest reservations on the weekend.

They started doing a Power Lunch Buffet and I thought it was really good. The selection is great with lots of options (salads, appetizers, pastas). I would try it out since the selection changes daily.

  • Pros: Great Food, View, Service
  • Cons: None

Easter Brunch Major Disappointment

by garygfox

Easter Brunch was a major disappointment. There was a minimal selection of some very bland dishes. Food was cold in most instances. Steamship round, Ceasar Salad and desert sampler were the high points. Very overpriced for what was offered. Dining area was crowded and very noisy creating a very poor atmosphere.

  • Pros: Steamship Round, Ceasar Salad, Desert Sampler
  • Cons: Cold Food, Noisy Dining Room, Poor Selection on brunch buffet

misled but placated

by dallas_foodie

We went in anticipation of trying the seared ahi tuna over seafood risotto advertised on Mi Piaci's website. Instead we were given menus with hearty dishes featuring items such as "fall vegetables" and "winter squash", which seemed strange considering we visited in May. Regardless, the drunken pork chop in barolo sauce with winter squash actually was a pleasant surprise. The pasta handkerchief with seafood was kind of a letdown, though - the shrimp was gamey and there was no sea bass to be found underneath the pasta canopy. Still the experience was positive overall, thanks to hands-on service and a tasty reserve Chianti that they sell by the glass.

  • Pros: friendly service, good wine list by the glass
  • Cons: winter menu served in May?

Not All It's Cracked Up To Be

by csehannie

I have frequented your restaurant on numerous occasions without any disappointment. This changed suddenly last Friday evening. My wife and I ordered the Fonduta di Tortelloni con Granchio. The dish was sub-standard based on our previous times we have visited the restaurant. The pasta was still hard and my wife?s dish was rather salty. The portion was extremely small and the priced had been increased from $20-00 to $23-00. The dish was sent back. When it was returned the pasta was overcooked and my dish was salty and my wife?s wasn?t. The chef proceeded to our table and we told him what was wrong with the dishes, he actually agreed. He was rather rude (Gordon Ramsay). He eventually offered to prepare us something else> We decided against having anything else to eat. We also ordered the Calamari as an appetizer which was sub-standard. It was over-cooked and the portion was extremely small. It seems like the restaurant has increased their prices and downsized their portions as well as sacrificing their quality. The price of the Calamari was also increased from $8-00 to $9.50. If I am not mistaken the wine we had was also more expensive. We paid $72-00 for a bottle of Sartori Amarone when we paid $52-00 in November 06. I just recently bought a case of Sartori Amarone from COSTCO for $24-00 a bottle. We proceeded to Arthur?s Steakhouse for dinner where we weren?t disappointed and their prices had remained the same as well as their quality wasn?t sacrificed. I will be informing my friends of my experience at Mi Piaci and recommend that they no longer dine at this establishment.

  • Pros: Ambience, Parking and Service

This place has yet to fail me. Consistently, the food and service are excellent, and the decor is elegant and condusive to a romantic evening. Great pasta, great entrees, great dessert, great wine list. Highly recommended.

  • Pros: Everything--there's even plenty of room to park

Romantic views, fair prices, outstanding service and flawless northern Italian cuisine combine for a near-perfect dining experience.

The Scene
This destination offers water views with floor-to-ceiling glass revealing a lovely pond with fountains. It's a little bit of Lake Como in Texas. A black-and-white color scheme flecked with gold, an enormous iron clock and private dining areas add elan to the already elegant restaurant.

The Food
The menu features consistently prepared Italian dishes. The tender carpaccio gets a peppery jolt from parmigiano-dusted arugula leaves. The simple insalata d'arugula dresses those leaves with high-quality olive oil. Gnocchi with wild boar ragu teams tiny, tender handmade herbed dumplings with the sauce. Handmade ravioli is stuffed with cremini mushrooms, and tossed with bright green asparagus and sumptuous white-truffle oil. The panna cotta is a light and creamy pudding infused with orange, and the tiramisu is buoyant and flavorful.
