Besa's is awesome! I get take-out from here on a regular basis, and have never been let-down. The quality is consistent and the value is unbeatable. Every time that I call in an order, the staff is friendly and competent (which is sadly a rare quality.). I am a huge fan of their baked ziti, which is large enough to split over a few meals, and even maintains its wonderful taste after having been microwaved. Ultimate comfort food spot!

  • Pros: Great food, polite service, awesome value
  • Cons: All that's missing is a drive-thru! :)

I try to frequent small independently owned restaurants to support small businesses and find them usually customer oriented, polite, friendly, etc. and happened on Besa's almost 5 years ago. I even suggested it as a first date with my now gf. We have been ordering delivery and dining in now for almost 5 years. In this time, I have never once complained about service, the food itself or anything. Until today.

We ordered 2 pizzas for the evening (1 mushroom & 1 sausage). When we got the pizza in the door and opened the box, we noted the sausage pizza smelled funny...like b.o. or dirty socks. We continued on thinking it may have been the dough cuz sometimes pizza dough gives off a weird smell at times..... so we started to eat and found there to be something wrong with the taste of the sausage pizza. We immediately stopped eating and talked about it. We both felt that they should be notified and we called to inform them of the situation.

When we called the employee immediately put the owner on the phone. (We know this because we asked if the was the manager and he replied no, he was the owner.)

So we proceeded to tell the owner what had happened and the sausage pizza tasted bad. We did not want a refund or another pizza sent out. Mainly, an acknowledgment that as a loyal customer, they respect our imput and want to see satisfied customers. I had expected that in the very least, and a generous offer of something to the effect of-hey next time, we can make it up in a comp'd pizza at your convenience.

But noooooo. The owner said "There is no way the sausage pizza was bad. 15 customers ordered sausage pizza today and I no complaints."

It continued on a negative path that resulted in basically an insult-encinuating that we had intended to swindle him out of $20 pizza. by way of a refund.

You're kidding me right? This is how you conduct business in a customer centered industry like the food service/restaurant..we were shocked. When I said this is how you treat a valuable customer/ he responded with I have THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS. (1,000'S) In other words, he didn't care if he lost our business! How cold and impolite. but maybe that's how they treat people in Albania/Serbia where they are from. Does he know he's in America where we care about people and customer service is regarded a high priority in the restaurant/food service industry.

Oh, btw, I did request a refund for the pizza we didn't eat, since he has THOUSANDS of customers, he shouldn't mind:)...after reading some of these reviews, I feel I might not be alone in my experience. Its too bad, because I had hoped I could depend on a local intimate restaurant that had genuine and quaint feel, but alas, they are RUDE and I wouldn't recommend this establishment.

  • Pros: good mushroom pizza
  • Cons: Insulted by the owner!

Pizza is amazing, the Italian dishes remind me of those from Bronx's Little Italy. Try the Baked Ziti I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed.

  • Pros: Pizza tests just like NYC pizza
  • Cons: nada!

found while walking toward hobby lobby...and decided to stop in for a quick lunch

upon ordering the very nice server told me about the lunch special...and I placed my order

spaghetti w/ meatballs and it comes with free bread, salad, and a soft drink with refills

wow...what a deal and the portion was huge I had to take some home.

their meatball was very tender and flavorful, and the spaghetti was cooked just right, wasn't under or over cooked. the salad had a very full tasting house vinagerette dressing with banana pepper (which i love)

and a huge cup for soft drinks which I didn't need any refills at all.

it was a very good experience I would give it a 5 star but the deco is very fast food ish and family styled

but the food was fantastic and the people/server there were wonderfully nice and helpful to me

I'd definitely go back there again

  • Pros: great price, great portion, fantastic spaghetti w/ meatballs, very helpful and nice servers
  • Cons: hidden location, deco can use some updating

I'm originally from Boston so I'm accustomed to real pizza. Besa's is the best I've had in Dallas, and I've looked around a lot. My wife and I have been eating there for two years now, and we've never had a problem. The pizza is consistently awesome, but only order seafood if the owner is there. He makes sure everything is fresh and that the sauces are made correctly. The only times we've experienced less-than-stellar food was when he wasn't there, but it was still good. Quality is so much better than Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill, and prices are lower. Delivery service has always been very timely and in good condition too. The only downside is that they close at 10pm. If they stayed open until 11pm we'd probably eat there more often.

* Pros: Great pizza, reasonable prices, good food, BYOB, family owned and operated business.

* Cons: Not always perfect, but neither am I. Wish they were open later too.

* Overall user rating: Highly Recommended

I used to order Besas delivery often. Then I took a bite of pizza and bit into a plastic piece. I have no idea what the plastic piece was from but I do know it chipped my tooth. I figured it was a fluke so I ordered from them again. I got halfway through the baked ziti before I looked at my fork and saw a short curly black hair. This was the last time I ate there. The food is great, but I am not that excited about finding surprises in the middle of my meal.

  • Pros: food is good
  • Cons: hair and plastic in food not so good

This is one of the best take-out pizzas I have had. I love tons of cheese and they deliver that! I like the sauce which is not overall tomatoish. I have tried some of the entrees which are okay but I would stick with the pizza! Oh yeah, they do have great cheese sticks as well.

I love hole in the wall places...Besa's is one of the best italian hole in the wall restaurants I've found. They are authentic Italian and everything is handmade, fresh...never frozen. They do not serve alcohol but they do allow you to bring your own beer or wine. For the price, this is a sure bet!

Allow me to start by saying that, I have never written a restaurant review, or any review for that matter.

My wife loves Besa's. She's eaten there off and on for years.

Long story short, they delivered my pizza folded in half. I called back, and asked for a manager. When I explained the situation, I was told that's what they always do. If a customer orders a medium they give the next size up at no extra charge. All of their customers love it, and they've never received a complaint. I found that hard to believe. If you're gonna give someone a larger pizza, wouldn't you give it in a larger box? I assume someone made the order wrong and smushed the pizza into a smaller box to cover up what would have been a simple mistake. Instead of admitting that someone made a mistake, the manager tells me "You got a bigger pizza than you paid for. You should be happy, instead you complain." When I ask him to send the driver back, he tells me I'm going to be added to the No-Service list.

Now I know Besa's is an institution as you've probably read in the other reviews, but this was my experience. It will be my last.

  • Pros: a bit eastern european
  • Cons:  - a bit eastern european

I ate here about 3 weeks ago. I left so mad at my experience I felt I must write. The food here is pretty good and plentiful. The service is just horrific. They bring you rolls with your order (sometimes hot, sometimes cold). Just be prepared to not get any additional rolls unless you pay for them. We asked our waiter FOUR times for more rolls and did not get any until I turned nasty. They have kids waiting on you so that could explain a lot. I have eaten here about once per month for a year. The service and food seem to be taking a turn for the worse. I plan on going to Amore in Richardson from now on.

  • Pros: Abundance of food, parking, price
  • Cons: Service, customer focus
