An ostentatious hotel eatery pulls in out-of-town guests as well as fashionable residents of the city.

In Short
From corner to corner, subtle earth tones woven within luxury fabrics and textures create a rich and sensual ambiance. Chocolate-brown velvet drapes adorn the bar and lounge area, which spotlights a floating granite drink rail and introduces a six-seater wine room. The main dining area, lit by dramatic tea-stained chandeliers and hand blown candle sconces, induces a bold yet intimately passionate feel. The New American fusion menu offers seasonal and daily specials blending American classics with French, Asian and Mediterranean influences. Beef tenderloin carpaccio with cracked pink peppercorn, white truffle oil, arugula and shaved parmesan begin the dining experience, while the organic Scottish salmon served with crispy potato, asparagus salad and lemon beurre blanc is a popular main entrée. The bar menu grants happy hour plates such as pan-seared bacon-wrapped shrimp or ZaZa thin crust pizza. Save room however for the signature drinks that fuel the late night crowd scene.
Can be a Fun place ! Great hostesses/Servers
by MickeyGreen
The first time I dined at Dragonfly it was an exciting place to be on the weekend the beautiful hostesses opened the door for me and greeted me with smiles that made my night. The second time I went to Dragonfly the hostesses were dressed strangely in a black toga looking outfit (not appropriate for the thyme of the restaurant) and it led me to believe it was an Asian restaurant (even though its not) but they were helpful and at least had beautiful faces. The servers were very knowledgeable and made the dining experience wonderful again. It was hard to get a hold of a manager to discuss an event I wanted held at Dragonfly and it became frustrating and I decided against having my party there. Other than that I would recommend small groups dining there for a good time. Just don?t expect to get help from a manager.
Much better than these "reviews" would lead you to believe!

Our party of five had dinner at Dragonfly last night I have to admit that we we worried, after reading some of the not-so-flattering reviews on CitySearch.... Our experience, however, was definitely worthy of five gold stars! We had reservations at 7pm, and the friendly valet pointed us in the right direction. The Hotel ZaZa is a feast for the eyes! Our table was in a room ringed by curtains, which made for a very quiet, intimate, cosy setting. We were served promptly. The food was outstanding! There was a foie gras starter special, which we ordered. I can easily say that we have never had such foie gras before, even at Abacus. The food, the wine, was excellent. All in all, a wonderful experience, and definitely much, much better than the other "reviews" would lead you to believe. We eat out at the top Dallas restaurants often (at least one a week), and DragonFly is definitely on our "return" list!
good food, terrible service
by foodwine102
I had reservations on a Saturday night at 9:00 PM for 8 people. We had to wait 30 minutes, which isn't terrible, but still annoying. After we were seated, it took the waiter at least 10 minutes to greet us. We ordered a few bottles of wine, and did not receive our drinks for another 15 minutes. It was even served by the host because our waiter was nowhere to be found. We eventually ordered food, and between each waiting period between the different courses was about 25 minutes. We ordered appetizers and finished them, then our salads took forever. Same with the entrees. RIDICULOUS!!!! We ended up being there over three hours. The food was really great, but not worth the wait. With all the great restaurants in Dallas, I won't be going back here again.
- Pros: great food
- Cons: terrible service
horrible service
by parismoo
the food was good. however, the service was terrible. our entire meal from cocktails to dessert spanned an entire 45 minutes. my husband and i went there to celebrate our anniversary and expected a dining experience, not fast food.
- Pros: food
- Cons: service, noise
Most overrated restaurant ever!
by dongen
I read your reviews and thought this would be a good restaurant to take my wife on our anniversary...what a horrible experience. The dining room is open to the bar which makes it really loud and not intimate at all. The waiter was rude and not attentive and the food was really overpriced and nothing special. How does this place stay open!!
- Pros: none
- Cons: Highly overrated
nice place
by ms_l
I apparently have had much better experiences than the other reviewers here. On different occasions I've tried the sea bass and the ginger beef. Both were excellent. The appetizer of calamari is also quite nice and served more as a salad than just a jumble of fried squid with a side of sauce. I have experienced the wait staff as polite and knowledgeable. One thing thing I would change would be to get rid of the plasma TV's in the back dining area. It really kills the notion of a romantic dinner out. And yes, this place really expensive.
Don't eat the food

This hotel has a lot of hype but the hype couldnt help the menu. The food was pretty terrible. We tried the shrimp corn dogs, Roasted onion and sweet corn chowder, scallops, mushroom soup, and a Hawaiian fish dish. The cocktails were quite tasty but the food was a big thumbs down other than the corn chowder. If I ever returned to this restaurant it would be for cocktails only!
ZaZa me!!!!

I love Hotel ZaZa and the Dragonfly. The perfect adult getaway! Anytime I travel to Dallas I make reservations for both, I can't get enough ZaZa!
- Pros: not to big, beautiful, classy
- Cons: expensive, sometimes crowded
Cold soup and HIGH prices!
by tmicland
The swanky little restaurant Dragon Fly is very good, if you are looking for 50+ eye candy. This is where the plastic comes to party, and where the 20 something year olds come to find a rich daddy, I mean husband. Now for the food The menu was way overpriced, and my soup came out cold. I had to eat it with a fork, after I asked the waiter 2 times to bring me a spoon, which I never received! They also brought my table the wrong bottle of vino.
- Pros: cool outdoor atmosphe, good people watching
- Cons: too expensive, bad service, LONG wait
