Horrible Service and Staff

We tried to go to this place tonight, but our group was turned away.... Only because we tried to park in a parking spot that was apparently one of many reserved for the owner. Because we were meeting a friend to continue her birthday party, We were good sports and eventually found a parking spot three blocks away and attempted to enter the Slip. The bouncer and six of his buddies came outside to threaten our poor group, made fun of us, and told us to leave. I've got a bad taste for the Slip Inn and would encourage anyone thinking of going here to reconsider.

• Pros: YUK YUK YUK
• Cons: Strung Out Bouncers

Use to be a good plae a few years back but the locals have not abandoned the bar and now it's wannabbee's and fake freaks. It's done!

• Pros: There are no pro's here, but some decent drink abound
• Cons: Bad music, Bad DJ's, Assswhole Dooh Men.

Not recommended

The picture looks nice right? You have heard your friends talk about raging nights they have had there. You may have also heard some horror stories. I will tell you the truth from personal experience. First of all,...that nice big, pretty booth you see back there, i guarantee you more people than you want to think of have probably gotten it on in that corner. Other than that... Yeah it is ok if you are cool with the bar staff, you never have to wait for a drink. If you are not then be prepared for AT LEAST 10 minutes of waiting, maybe even the chance to be ignored or turned away, and then being bumped into by the crowd moving through because the place is quite small. If you have already broken the seal for the night, don't expect to go there without doing the potty dance because there are only two bathrooms and they are both unisex. There is a sign that says only one person at a time, but we all know how that goes. I have met the owner of this place who also owns another bar nearby and I think he is a great guy. I feel sorry that his staff is the downfall of this particular business. If you have read any of the reviews about them before, you should know that they are all pretty much accurate. To be excluded, Wes and Wendy are awesome, but the rest have a bad attitude and have a sorry excuse for a sense of entitlement. If it was not for the staff, I would recommend this bar, however, if you go...proceed at your own risk and BY ALL MEANS don't linger....

Good Hip Hop , Bad Staff

Great Hip Hop & Cheap Drinks but it all stops there. Manager/Owner is a real tool. I saw him get into a fist fight one night with a customer as his knuckle head bouncers threw the guy out who as far as I saw did nothing. I have seen too many bad actions from the staff here to believe this was the first time for this looser.

A good Friday night plan is to have dinner at one of the great places on Henderson and then go to the Slip Inn around 9 or 10 to chill and listen to Hip Hop but after 11pm beware of the shady crowd and strung out staff.

Meet ya at tha Slip!

I LOVE this place! The music is always right on point, everyone is there is have a good time. The variety and diversity of people is awesome. You will always meet new people and see old friends here. The bartenders are fun and personable. The security here is good too. The bouncers always have their eyes open and make sure that everyone is there to have fun, not drama. I saw that previous post and that is NOT TRUE! The bouncers are cool as hell and the only time you will have a problem with them is if you start fighting or are putting your hands on someone who doesnt want you putting your hands on them. They are very professional and there for everyone's safety. This place has it goin on! I will come here every weekend!!!

• Pros: Diversity, music, something for everyone
• Cons: only one bathroom

Bouncers Committed Assault

My husband and I were there for about 5 minutes. In that time, my husband ordered a beer. The bartender yelled at him, "you have to pay for that." and my husband pointed to the $5 he had placed on the bar. The bartender grabbed it and then two bouncers grabbed my husband, carried him outside, threw him on the ground, where one guy held his face in the concrete, one sat on his back, and the other kicked him in the ribs. I tried to get near him and was pushed away several times. I asked one bouncer, "what did he do?" and then I said, "maybe you got the wrong guy," and he replied back, "maybe." At that point, I called 911. When the cop got there she didn't even listen to me, and instead gave my husband a PI ticket. She did let us leave. We will be filing charges against this dump which doesn't train their staff. I don't care if someone is drunk or loud or even crazy, they don't deserve to be beat up. And in our case, my husband wasn't even any of the above.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!

I was reading some of the bad reviews and had to comment. This place is one my favoraites. I don't get how 1) Drinks are too strong. 2) People dancing enjoying the music is a bad thing??? 3) Bartenders are too friendly?? Thats what I love about the place. Its in a good area and I can be comfortable and not pretencious like A LOT of spots in this city. I agree it is too small and the line to the bathroom is a hasstle but other than that. The music is great! Everytime I have gone they play a lot of old school hip hop. Not Soulja Boy lol! The real stuff! And I love seeing people enjoying themselves. If your not trying to dance and have a good time then no you wont like it at all. And the bartenders I love the most! Maybe its because I am a female but I have had the best service with them. Especially the one with the spiky hair! He is a trip!! He spits fire and hooks it up on the drinks which by the way are not expensive at all. Thats why I don't get how a drink is too strong because Im tired of going to the TRENDY places where people want to act big time and the bartenders wanna rip you off serving weak drinks then charge you out the butt, then want you to tip them! This place isnt like that. It is different but everybody is there to have a good time. No fake people, no fake big timers, just good music and good fun!! But then again, if you would rather have a fashion show, stand around looking at people and drink wine, and not open to DIVERSITY (whatever the other guys were going with that comment) or if your scared of the "HOODLUMS" That doesn't even exsist in UPTOWN, I promise, you will enjoy yourself.

My favorite place in Dallas

I tell everyone that they have to go to the Slip Inn.

On thursdays, they play old school hip hop and the DJ's are banging. Great mix of people. Finally, a place in Dallas where people don't care what you look like, what you are drinking, or who you are with.

Go there three times, and you are a regular. All the staff will treat you like you are old friends.

Also, the girls here don't play games. They are some cute chicks that just want to dance. So just make sure you can keep up with them.

• Cons: Looks Shady from the outside

The Slip Inn is Terrible!

Bathroom lines are too long

Everyone freaking acts like they know each other

Drinks are too strong

Parking is the worst after midnight

There's no cover

Just too much diversity, clubs make more sense when everyone is of the same economic and socio demographic

Everyone is dancing and waving their arms in the air like they don't care or something

The DJs play crazy, weird mixes to songs you know the words to

The bartender makes fun of people

There's no dress code so it get's confusing when people try to be all original with their outfits

It's so dark in there you'd almost think people were good-looking

They take freaking Discover??!! What bar takes Discover? Sheesh.

AND You can't go with a bad attitude, tell me what bar in Dallas prohibits ATTITUDE? Seriously?

That's all I've got.

The Slip Inn is awful. Don't go. Really, it's in your best interest if you are researching a bar to go to tonight with your friends, this ain't it. Go find a nice, pleasant trendy lounge or wine bar!

***Sure hope this works, 'cause parking has been out of control lately and I'm trying to get my front door spot back.!!!***

STAY AWAY!!!

• Cons: DJs are great, drinks are strong, casual dress code, people dance too much, outdoor patio is too convenient to cool down

bunch of wanna be's

This hole in the wall is just that a hole in the wall...for staff that are all strung out...don't forget STREET HOODLUMS like the short bald tattooed star headed boy who thinks he is all that..Oh I forgot word is he's in locked up...just where he belongs...and don't forget the manager who thinks he is such a ladies man likes to start a show looking like a freak...just for the attention...when he should be working...the owners should really consider a new out look starting with a new presentable staff..Wouldn't recommend this place at ALL.....
