THIS PLACE IS A HELL!!!! THE BLUE FISH S U C K S!!!!

THEY DON'T DESERVE ANY STAR AT ALL!!!!

DON'T BE FOOLED BY OVER PRICED FAKE JAPANESE FOOD!!!!

THEY DISCRIMINATE ASIAN PEOPLE KNOWING THAT THEY'RE AN ASIAN RESTAURANT! THE MOMENT I STEPPED INTO THIS PLACE THE SERVERS LOOKED AT ME FROM HEAD TO TOE, LOOKING AT ME LIKE I DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY TO PAY FOR THE FAKE SUSHI THAT THEY SERVE.

AFTER 45 MINS WAITING FOR MY ORDER, THE MANAGER AND THE SERVER CAME UP TO ME AND SAID THAT THEY HAVEN'T COOK MY ORDER SINCE THEY MADE A MISTAKE ON THEIR OUTDATED MENU. JUST TO COMPENSATE FOR THEIR MISTAKE THEY'RE WILLING TO COOK THE FOOD AS LONG AS I PAY THEM EXTRA.

I WALKED OUT OF THIS HORRIBLE PLACE AND WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK AGAIN!!!!

  • Cons: BAD FOOD, BAD SERVICE, OVER PRICED, THIS PLACE IS JUST HORRIBLE!!!

With awards for The Met, D-Magazine, The Observer and Citysearch ( to name a few) I figured we pretty much could not go wrong with this sushi location. What we found was far BEYOND SUSHI! This sushi restaurant was amazing. The service superb and the freshness of the sashimi and sushi was just the start of this sushi adventure. We started with an appetizer of crab claws. These are fresh large claws with a light batter and stuffed. Wow! We then moved on to the Ahi tower ( once again fresh fresh fresh) this was a combination of Fresh tuna tarter based sesame oil over snow crab avocado salad, bedded on a sushi rice with a creamy wasabi sauce,,,,,,,, excellent! For the caviar lover we had the bluefish trio next, with fresh snapper, Scottish salmon and ahi tuna topped with various colors of the caviar family. Sauteed jumbo Scallops were next! WOW! These were lightly pan seared HUGE scallops, with a jalapeno sauce that was not too spicy and full of flavor ( if you are a scallop lover , do not walk, run to this location) I almost forgot the combo sushi plate and the black cod appetizer ( wow we ate a lot of sushi here) We finished off with the berry tower on advice from another Citysearch review, they were right! I would come back just for the dessert! Really, if you love sushi and you love fresh sushi, and you love great service and fantastic desserts, go to Bluefish now! Where sushi is not just sushi anymore???.the most fantastic, BEYOND SUSHI EXPERIENCE I have ever had!

  • Pros: Just go, all locatins are fantastic
  • Cons: none

Blue Fish has wonderful sushi. When you first walk in, you think you are in a nightclub. It's a big open space with lots of neon. It was hard for me to read the menu because it was so dark in there. But once the food comes, you forget about all of that. Excellent, excellent. A little pricy, but worth it for that special treat.

It is easy to determine if a sushi restaurant is good: Do the Japanese in the area flock there? No Japanese in their right mind would go to Blue Fish. The Sushi Bento Box over lunch is an awful value. It is made of: salad, a clump of rice, a piece of orange, four pieces of sushi (one being a cheap shrimp) and four small pieces of california roll (the one made of mashed pseudo-crab). Rice is usually never eaten alone, so I wonder if it pairs up with the salad or the orange...

As for politeness at the place, it was lacking. There was a sushi promotion card at the table that threatened patrons with extra charges if they did not eat all the rice. Go figure, this is not an all-you-can-eat. The waiter eagerly tagged 18% to our bill for a party of five while refusing to get us a split check.

The decor was nicely done, but blue neon does nothing to cover the issues this place has.

For Blue Fish to be good value, prices need a 50% trim.

Don't go. Pick a real Japanese restaurant like Hanasho in Irving.

Cavernous restaurant has great sushi, and 2-for-1 sushi at lunchtime always attracts a crowd. Inventive rolls are sure to please too. Bring your friends and your credit card -- it's still not cheap.

Blue Fish has three locations. One in lower Greenville, one on Dallas Parkway and one in Las Colinas. Since the Las Colinas location is much closer to us, we decided to give it a try. The host greeted us and we were seated pretty promptly. We ordered the Yellowtail Heaven, the Toro(fatty tuna) handrolls, the Julie rolls, the Sundae rolls, and many more rolls and sushi than I can remember. Everything was delicious! The two dishes that stood out the most for me was the Volcano rolls, which are california rolls covered in a cheese sauce with scallops. SO DELICIOUS! The other dish that we just loved was the Sundae roll. Crunchy tempura on the inside makes this roll a bit unique in texture and great in flavor. You have to wait a bit for your sushi to arrive, but that's perfectly understandable since they make everything RIGHT when you order it and they try to bring it all out all at once for you so you're not waiting in between dishes. While you wait, you can try the Sake Sampler, which is a box of ice that chills four different types of sake. Our favorite was the Pearl Sake, which looks kind of questionable because it's white and cloudy, but it's pleasantly sweet and not overpowering like typical sake. Overall, the service was pretty good and we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. We went during a weekday and it wasn't busy at all, although I'm sure during the weekend, it's a different story. We loved everything we ate but almost went into cardiac arrest when we saw the bill. $219 for the four of us. That's a lot, but you know what? I'm definitely going back cause the food is worth it. Now, I haven't tried Nobu yet, which I hear is the "best" sushi ever, but I heard my friend and his wife spent $250 on just the two of them. If you ask me, Blue Fish is as good as it gets for me.

  • Pros: grrrreat sushi! very fresh and very friendly staff
  • Cons: a bit pricey - $219 for the four of us

In Short
Slashes of chrome, sleek metal tables and cool tile make this hot spot a den of din. The menu features hibachi meats, but the restaurant's hallmark is sushi. A crispy jalapeno roll pays homage to Texas, combining firm yellotail, cream cheese and a spicy kick. The calamari roll marries tempura with avocado and cucumber; it's crunchy and sweet. Julie's roll wraps cucumber around pummeled salmon and crabmeat. Dessert includes tempura banana and green-tea ice cream.

First off, this place is huge. It is a big roomy place. There is a full bar, a huge dining area and of course a sushi bar. It is clean and the staff is quick, friendly and always asking if you need anything else. The food is on the upper side of what you normally would pay for sushi. But the taste and display of the food is wonderful. We tried the Louisiana roll and the Crazy roll. The second having more of a clearing effect than the first. The California roll does not look or taste like the imitation crap filling that most of the cheaper or smaller sushi bars serve. The flounder and salmon was fresh and tasted great. We left nothing and enjoyed all. I don't know if it was because of the size of this place or maybe the higher prices, but it seemed like we were in and out of there well within the 1 hour we have for lunch. This is in comparison to some of the other dining options in this same shopping center where you would have a wait to be seated. Red, Hot and Blue and Champs are both in this area, but these are often hard to get into without a wait at lunch time. I had read some of the reviews in the paper about this restaurant and they had made it sound like a singles techno bar scene. I didn't really get that vibe at lunch time, but I suppose that things could be different once the sun goes down.

PROS: Taste, taste, taste

CONS: Price
