I have been 3 times to this location, and each time the food has been amazing, the service was great, and it was just a nice relaxing atmosphere. I even took my family here for my dad's birthday, and we were treated like we were the only people there. I definitely will keep going back because of the food. I love great mexican food, and they definitely have it.
Pros: Atmosphere, Food
Cons: only that it is downtown

I recently came to Dallas for a few weeks on a company trip. On one of my first days in Dallas, I went over to the Iron Cactus to have something to eat, and I sat at the bar. While I was waiting on my food and having a drink, I was trying to figure out my way around downtown with this map I recieved from my hotel. The bartender took it upon herself to help me figure out which ares to go to, and which areas to stay away from. I didn't know where to begin looking, and immediately I was given a handful of stuff to do. Not only was their food great, but so was the friendliness of their staff. I will definitely be eating there a lot while I am here in Dallas.
Pros: Nice views and surroundings, friendly staff.
Cons: Not having one where I live.

The drinks are acceptable but the food is really bad and overpriced. I definitely don't recommend this place but if you want to try anyways do it on weekdays when the grown-ups are around downtown; on weekends the place gets crowded with teenagers screaming and trashing around.
Pros: downtown area is very nice
Cons: food is bad and overpriced, way too loud and smoking allowed

My complaint about this restaurant could go on forever, but I'll keep it as brief as possible. Made reservations over a month in advance for a large bachelorette party here for dinner & drinks - hostess tried to seat us on the patio, despite the fact that it was RAINING. She claimed we would have to wait an hour for seats inside, so we tried to manage outside, until it started pouring and we were soaked. We ended up waiting for an hour while dripping wet, were finally seated. Because of the change of location, our orders were wrong and many people's dinners were cold. Management never approached us to apologize or compensate us in anyway. I finally asked to speak to the manager, who simply said "sorry" and walked away. I am very sad that I contributed so much money to this establishment. I wrote a complaint to corporate offices in Austin and received no word back. Do not take a large group here, ever!
Cons: Management, customer service

I've been there a couple times and enjoyed it. Not many combinations of ways to put together rice, meat, cheese and beans but, they've got a few variations and creative dishes (chicken stuffed w/ corn and corn bread for example is pretty good). Pretty cool layout and has 3 floors w/ a nice rooftop section. Margaritas are good...go for the halepeno pepper margarita, pretty interesting. Good to go w/ a group before a night out on the town.
Pros: good food, good service, fun place.
Cons: Can get loud so if you're a couple...ask to be seated away from the larger crowds.

I have been to the Iron Cactus quite a few times recently. Being a downtown resident I can't express what a plus it is to have the "Cactus" as part of our neighborhood! The management team is outstanding as the consistently GREAT food and service proves. They recently started a new Sunday Brunch which is the best kept secret in Dallas. I highly suggest checking out the Iron Cactus for any occasion! Ask for Captain Tom (GM) when you get there as he truly understands what great food and service is all about.
