Uptown Tex-Mex joint boasts brisket tacos and a spicy scene.
by Sabra Girard
This old-house-turned-restaurant sits just a jaunt off Central Expressway. Attractive Uptowners in hip novelty t-shirts and attitude sunglasses trickle in to one of two bar areas to wait for their table. Swirl margaritas are savored amongst groups of friends and occasionally persuade a bad pick-up line. Brisket tacos, super hot pica-pica sauce and puffy sopaipillas flow out of the kitchen to the loud and energetic crowds sat in gold booths or tables under hung Mexican style plates and Frida images. Most have more margaritas for dessert or look for eye candy.
BEST MEXICAN FOOD AND DON'T PASS UP THE MARGARITA'S
by ndonovan
You must try the Brisket Tacos or Brisket Nacho's or anything with their Brisket for that matter. Absolutely wonderful. The best Margarita's around. Definately a must on you list.
- Cons: Gets very busy at luch so get there early.
Manny's Customer 4 Life
by MerceMe
I too was disappointed that the Frisco location closed. I live in the area so it was very convenient on the weekends to get my Brisket Taco fix. Oh well there is still Addison & Uptown (worth the drive).
I feel sorry for the person who said they would never go to another Manny's because of the way the Frisco location was closed. Sometimes things happen! You truly dont know what your missing. By far the best "Authentic Mexican Food" in the Metroplex Hands Down.
- Pros: Authentic Mexican Food, Reasonable Prices, Friendly waitstaff
- Cons: A bit of a drive for those of us further North
Poor Management
by Maryrose1
I am so upset. You had a restaurant in Frisco. Quite a few of us from our office showed up for lunch and no one was there. No one even bothered to put a sign of anykind. We are really disappointed as the food was wonderful and the staff was amazingly nice. The owners should be embarrased. I don't think I'll visit your restaurant in any of your other locations as the behavior of management is completely unacceptable. Unbelievable!!!!!!
Like MiCocina only better
by dallas3647
As people have noted, this place has a similar menu to MiCocina but to me the food tastes fresher or more natural. The prices are better too, and margharitas are just as good for a few dollars less! Service is much better and friendlier too.
- Pros: Food, Margharitas, Service
Great Mexican food!!!!!
by lizparham
This is our favorite casual Mexican food spot. Owned by the brother of Mia and uncle of Mico, very similar recipes to Mia's and mi cocina. More causal than uptown micocina's but better than mia's for a night out because of the location and more updated restaurant.
Brisket Tacos are the best thing on the menu, but the fajita salad is great with their home made dressing.
Margaritas are strong!
- Pros: Great food, Not as crowded as micocina, great atmosphere, friendly service
- Cons: Waits on weekends and sometimes friday lunch
Brisket Enchiladas
by legacy1114
are the best! Definitely must try! Don't miss the great patio out back. Nice and shady to kick back with a margarita and escape the hot Dallas summer!
Absolutely Wondeful!!
by tinbigd
We loved Manny's and we have lunch there at least once a week. We have frequented several of the Mexican restaurants in the Dallas area and I must admit, we only dine at Manny's now. Their food is great, their service is great and their prices are very reasonable! We have tried several items on the menu and have been bragging since our first visit.
- Pros: Great food, Great price, Great Service
- Cons: CC transactions slow, Bar area cramped
NOT IMPRESSED
by tgd1947
Had heard about this place. We ate here when it was Guethries, and loved it. Sorry Guethries has closed. Well this place I wasn't impressed at all. If there was a choice of Manny's or El Fenix, I'd go to El Fenix next time. They're trying to be fancy. Things as simple as nachos, maybe 20 large chips on a plate with big globs of cheese, and what we thought we had order was fajitas, what we got was hunks for thinly sliced chicken, was not even close to fajitas. Oh yeah, they dont have refills on soft drinks, they bring you a canned coke. Will not be going back.
- Pros: easy parking, didnt have to wait lo
- Cons: slow service, average food, canned cokes
Longtime Dallas restaurateur Manny Rios dishes up Tex-Mex favorites with a few surprises.
by Contributor
In Short
Located not far from the Rios family's popular restaurant, Mia's, Manny's employs a muted color scheme of green, taupe and blond wood trim to create a soothing atmosphere distinguishing it from comparable Tex-Mex joints. Starters include the fideo soup: a tomato-flavored chicken stock with cilantro and noodles. The fish tacos, sauteed tilapia dressed with pico and wrapped in corn tortillas, are fresh and savory.
