I keep going back so it must be pretty good

by lg83

The food at Sushi Zushi is fresh and most of it is pretty delicious. The menu is very extensive so you can definitely find something you will like, and there are several cooked rolls on the menu, so it is a good place to go if you are bringing someone who doesn't normally like sushi. The service isn't the best, especially with groups. Most of the time that I go to Sushi Zushi I end up having to remind a waiter about something that I ordered that they forgot, but then it is corrected quickly. One word of caution: pay attention to the symbols on the menu that tell you if a specific dish is spicy, because they are not kidding. I have brought several friends to Sushi Zushi who love spicy food and they have been unable to eat rolls with the spicy symbol next to the name because of how hot they are.

  • Pros: variety of options, sushi quality, unique menu, atmosphere, parking
  • Cons: service (at times),

Zushi Schmooshi

by Unilover

As a fairly experienced diner, allow me to say a few things about Sushi Zushi. But just a few, since the unfortunate experience does not warrent more effort. Can you say, "Twelve year olds serving unneccesarily expensive sushi in only the most mediocre of styles?" Whatever goes on in a kitchen in terms of excessive and juvenile emotionality certainly does not warrant a bottle of beer slammed down on a table so hard that eight people divided amongst three tables stop what they are doing so as to decide whether or not there's a maniac loose with a gun and requires innocent bystanders to duck under our tables in an emergent survivalistic action. Listen, at the end of one of my bitch-ass business days, I am ready for a more than a little service and at least some acceptable food. What should have (and could have) been a lovely early evening as a prelude to something more enjoyable, was cut short by some apparent snit a server had with other less important servers- at least in his and their minds. Guess what? The beer bottle-slamming adolescent was none other than the alleged manager! The whole thing was nothing less than overwhelmingly disappointing. Whomever owns the establishment needs to spend a couple of evenings observing from a quiet corner so that he/she/they become aware of the personality disturbances which are costing it its reputation. By the way, uni, is in my opinion, a way to gauge the standards of a sushi restaurant. If the sushi "chefs" fail to closely examine (including visual and olfactory inspection) the uni it serves before serving it, they are compromising an opportunity for a deal-breaking or deal-making relationship with would-be culinaires. Boo.

  • Pros: excellent apple martini
  • Cons: absurdly bad service

Elegant place to unwind with Sushi and cocktails.

by inuxvomica

I loved Sushi Zushi. A friend and I went for the first time last Friday and OMG. It was way bigger and prettier inside than it appeared from outside. The decor was just gorgeous. Very clean, sleek lines, very chill downtempo music, ample seating and just very elegant. The menu was almost overwhelming. So many choices, and some very unique rolls. We had lychee sake and plum sherbert for dessert. It was a bit pricier than I am used to paying for sushi, but honestly worth it. Highly recommended!

  • Pros: beautiful decor, nice ambience, romantic, trendy, fun
  • Cons: expensive

Simply Put-AMAZING

by justinjustinjustin

Thats it, it's that good. I'm Half Korean and I've grown up on sushi, but this is one of the best spots I've been to that serves sushi. Absolutely delicious and not over priced.

  • Pros: AMAZING SUSHI
  • Cons: Felt a tad bit to small with the number of people that were dining there

Terrible Service, Great Food

by frankies

I've lived in Japan and I can say without fear of contradiction that SZ has outstanding traditional and non-traditional fare. Getting it to your table is another issue altogether. I have been there three separate times and everytime had HORRIBLE SERVICE. The first time, it tok almost 15 minutes just to get the drinks and another 30 for the food. The second time, the food took 30 minutes AND was wrong and incomplete. The third time, the service was marginally better, but the waiter took it upon himself to ad his own 20% gratuity! All three times, the "manager on duty" came out and made a token apology but then defended his waitstaff. I gave SZ two more chances than I would have given any place else just on the strength of the food, but after the last time, I've sworn off SZ for good. Unless there's an announcement of a COMPLETE STAFF CHANGE, I would rather eat the pre-made sushi at Albertson's than subject myself to another round of masochistic service.

  • Pros: The Food
  • Cons: You'll starve waiting for it!

Best Sushi In Texas!

by thegreateaterr

I'd like to start off by saying "irshaimaise" or something like that, which was how I was greeted! The seeting and scenery were amazing and you had relaxing music playing the whole time. The food, of course the main part, was close to perfect. The service was amazing and I enjoyed every roll I had. I commend the employees on there knowledge of the menu, they knew everything that I had asked and I was satisfied. I know i will be visiting this place soon and this time with a bigger appetite!

Bad service

by anitapita

I went in June of 2007 with a group of 10 for a birthday dinner. Our appetizers never came out. After the manager was informed, the waitress blamed the other waitress for the mishap. We ordered drinks from the bar and it took over 20 minutes to bring out a decander of sake and a martini. After our meal came out she asked if we needed anymore food because the kitchen was closing. This was at 10:35 when the rest. closes at 11:00. She asked if we needed anything else I said we had a cake that was put in the back that we wanted to bring out. You could tell she was not happy. The food is average in comparison to other sushi restaurants in dallas. We asked to split the bill she agreed. When she came back with the bill 28 minutes later it was not split per our request. I would not recommed going to Sushi Zushi due to the service/wait staff.

  • Pros: Nice atmosphere
  • Cons: Bad wait staff and average sushi

Pushy Service. Fair Food. Don't go Late.

by sammyjmeyer

i am not sure why this restaurant pops up under citysearch with a 5 star rating as there are clearly many negative reviews. Our experience was extremely disappointing. We were not expecting the world's best sushi but a relaxing experience as this restaurant came recommended to us by a local (we are from out of town). we went late for a Monday evening so i understand that they wanted to close soon, but they honestly should not have seated us if they were going to break down all of the tables around us, turn off the lights, and the music. We ordered an expensive meal, which was very mediocre and were rushed out. The service was sooo rude, as she asked "if we were done" every two minutes because they obviously wanted to leave. As far as food, it was fair. The roll we ordered was quite good, but the sushi was disappointing and the tempura was greasy. We also expressed our frustration and were not even given the manager. We have a feeling there was not a real manager present, as I can't imagine he would have allowed the staff to treat us as they did. I would have preferred if they would have turned us away or just suggested that we order for take out. The decor was nice but not enjoyable when they turn the music and lights off on you. Not really acceptable when we were hardly there north of 30 minutes. $100 for two should buy you a better experience than that. Forgot to mention that after we expressed our disappointment, that the waitress went on and on about how i looked like a model (i do not, by the way). It made us feel like she was more concerned with her tip than our experience. Will not return.

  • Pros: ambiance ok
  • Cons: food not so good, terrible service.

Credit card information stolen by waiter

by elizardbeth

The food is good here, but be warned...I had my credit card number stolen from a waiter at this restaurant. Luckily, I caught it before any real damage could be done. I will not eat here again because of the hassle caused by this incident.

  • Pros: Variety of sushi
  • Cons: Shady wait staff
