Very cool!

by nataliegirl at Citysearch

My girlfriend and I came down to Dallas to try out the nightlife for a mom's weekend out and to celebrate my 30th. Wow! We arrived around 9 and only waited for about 5 minutes before being asked if we were on the guest list. Thought that was funny as how there was no one in front of us and it was real slow, but we got right in. As we were coming up in the elevator you could hear the music, very cool! The doors opened and viola! a club on the 33rd floor, neon blue lights full of all sorts of types - pretentious, old guys with young girls, couples our age, younger singles...it was all very cool. We spent about $100 on drinks and got a nice hard buzz. The balcony was awesome, glass encased and you could see the traffic below you....33 stories down. The bouncers all made sure we had a good time, dancing with us and chatting with us (I'm sure that was apart of their job, but a nice plus.)

The most surprising thing is the next day our clothes didn't wreak of smoke...really? We both smoked and other smoked around us.

We had an awesome time and would love to go back!

  • Pros: Atmosphere
  • Cons: A bit expensive for drinks, but not too bad

by ladybug678 at Citysearch

As a gift to us my best friend of 36 years arranged our wedding nite stay and clubing at the ghost bar. I decided i was going to wear my dress all day and all nite and i did .The staff and patrons were so very respectful to me and my dress.Every where I would walk full train and all ,the sfaff and guest made an openning like the parting of the red sea for me.It was so awesome. Our wedding was on 6-7-8 at 3:45. Our 4 year old wasborn on 3-4-5. What a royal night it was!!! Can't wait to go back.On another note we had been there before and we had a blast!! Thanks so very much Wendy Wilks

Great Service and Atmosphere

by LynnAndArden at Citysearch

This is a bar where what you 'should' expect is what you get. Atop the W Hotel, with it's beautiful view (as good as the city of Dallas can get), and classy yet fun atmosphere, people should realize what the pros and cons are already going to be. You 'are' going to have the pretentiousness and feeling of superiority exuding from a lot of the people who go there, and you 'are' going to have to spend some money. The drinks aren't cheap. But if you are looking for cheap drinks, what are you doing at Ghostbar, a bar renowned for the attendance of the snooty and rich, in the first place? Even if you've heard nothing about it, most people can see the very building that hosts it and immediately know just what you're getting into. Don't be surprised by the "overpriced drinks" and pompous "douches." Oh, that's all true about this place. However, Ghostbar gets 5 stars from me because it fulfills the image that it sets out to create. They want it to be upscale, they want it to be expensive, and they want to act like a bunch of self-involved bitches. Good for them! They attract the kind of clientelle that will spend money, whether or not they have it, and do a good job of it. So the point is this, go there on those days when you feel particularly entitled. When you want to feel important for a night, and when you just want to act like hot sh*t. Just have the money to do so... If you're not rich, you don't have to be, just act like it for one night and you'll be treated accordingly. It's all about the mood... If you're not in the mood to be surrounded by the young, SMU daddy's girls and self-righteous strippers (who always seem so sophisticated with their wine glasses, then love to practice their new moves anywhere in the bar), or the men who scam on them (older, suit-wearing types, or young Affliction/Ed Hardy, sunglasses-wearing jerks)... then don't go.

This doesn't go without saying that as with all bars, restaurants, clubs et cetera, you have a certain level of service. If I completely hated this place, the one thing I would comment on is the service. From the bartenders to the wait staff (all definitely adding to the aesthetics of the place), they were all on their game, and I give them props for that.

  • Pros: Aesthetics, Staff, Impression
  • Cons: Prices

Two thumbs up

by texasfan05 at Citysearch

Me and my lady friend went there on monday 12/29/08 and a had good time. The view was off the hook. I heard about those mixed drink being watered down didn't even get that. I just got some wine. The drink are kind of on the expensive side. If all else fell takes some shots. Nice Atmosphere and the music was good(depends on the DJ). That particular night was one of those time if I could freeze time I would. I had that good of a time. The thing i didn't like was standing in that long line. So if you go go early.

  • Pros: Nice view and Atmosphere
  • Cons: Drinks to high. And cost to much to get in

Not worth it

by ss55 at Citysearch

I have been to Ghost Bar a handful of times, but after my most recent visit, I will never go there again. A group of us got there pretty late (around 1am) and were with a group who was already inside. One of the bouncers remembered me from the last time I had been there, but said it was up to the guy at the door to let me, my husband, and our out of town friends in. When we got to the door, the bouncer was rude, sarcastic and demeaning, and on top of that was going to charge the guys $40 to get in (you know for sure he was going to pocket the money). We went inside to talk with the other doorman, but were also snubbed. I don't know if it's because we were late, or because they didn't think we had the "right look" or what, but both doormen were completely disrespectful. As we were leaving, the outside bouncer made some more rude comments to us.

I don't think this bar is worth going to at all. The crowd is okay, but better can definitely be found in Dallas. I am not sure why the bouncers think they are better than everyone and that they can treat people disrespectfully. The servers and bartenders are fine and I have no complaints about them.

I have been to Ghost Bar plenty of times, and gotten in with no problem. But it is still not even worth it once you actually get past the rude staff.

NICE PLACE. BUT DEFINATELY OVERATED

by shanics at Citysearch

I believe I only had a really good time maybe once or twice out of the I would say four or five times that I have gone. I like that ladies are always free and the whole place is very nice but that would be about it for me. If you get there too late, you have to wait not in a line. Actually its not a line. Its a bunch of people crowded around the ropes and the door guy picks whoever he wants to come in. So to avoid that, I would recomend getting there before 10:30 especially if your black. Yea, I said it. I don't really know but it sure does remind me of the movie knocked up. For all white people who saw that movie, it was funny what the door guy said, but in all honestly that is the real life truth. When they do that, best believe not many of US are getting in. So if your black, get there early. Also, there really isnt much room for a dance floor AND the drinks are waaaay too expensive. I asked for a long island and it was more like a watered down short island and the guy charges me 12 dollars for it! WTF?? Another thing I don't care for is the music. Its mainly house and techno and a bunch of old rock songs that they put dance beats to. No rap what so ever. Oh wait, they did play funky cold madena and bust a move lmao!!! Thats not exactly what I wanted to hear. Thats "safe" rap. I asked the dj to play one lil wayne song and he tried to avoid playing it by saying he will play James Brown instead??? Dude, I wasn't even though of. Actually, my parents wasn't even thought of! I understand though that they don't want to play that type of music because they don't want certain type of people(blacks) to come in. But, whatever those certain type of people arnt the only ones that made him a multi platinum artist but moving on... I however would recomend skipping the club part and just hang out in the lobby. The lobby is nice and it actually seems like there is more room there than up in the actual club. And there is a dj playing music and a bar. AND the bathroom is nicer.

  • Pros: Very Nice Place
  • Cons: Music, Snoby Fake People, Overpriced Watered Down Drinks

Great view... Great music... Great times!

by TheBrute at Citysearch

Started over at Nove Italiano, owned by the same company, and were escorted over to the bar by a member of restaurant management... went right past the folks waiting to get in, VERY VIP... stayed almost 4 hours and had a blast! Recommend either eating at one of the two restaurants, N9NE or Nove, and getting a table reservation at Ghostbar to gain easy entry and VIP service!!

  • Pros: Atmosphere, view, music
  • Cons: valet service was wanting

Too pretentious.

by urbanboy at Citysearch

The places looks great! Definately chic and modern. Drinks were good and it was definately a fun experience. Downside though....way too pretentious. I can loosen up and have a lot more fun at other downtown bars/lounges. Fuse for example.

  • Pros: Setup.
  • Cons: Crowd
