Not sure why the reviews for this place are so great.

I guess people in Allen don't know better, but the food here is not good tex-mex. I had enchiladas. The ones at Taco Bueno are better. My wife had quesadillas and said the ones at Taco Bell are better. The queso was good and its not a chain, so I give it 2 stars. After reading the reviews here I set my expectations high. That was a mistake. Next time, I'll back to one of the places I enjoy... Uncle Julios, Mi Cocina, Taco Diner, or maybe even Mexi-go.
- Pros: Not a chain, queso
- Cons: The meals
Ricardo's Tex Mex is fine dining at an affordable price. by Jeanne S. at InsiderPages

The restaurant is warm and inviting. They can accommodate large crowds and cater to children. Great family dining. Food is excellent. Offer monthly email specials. Be sure to sign up because you will want to return.

This place is highly rated? If you look at the dates of the positive reviews, you will notice a block of them on the same day. (see 07/18/2007). You will also notice that every profile in that block have reviewed one place: "Ricardo's". HHHHHHmmm seems a bit fishy to me but derive what you will from that.
This place should really change it's name to Ricardo's Taco Bell and go ahead and franchise. The food here reminds me of the fast food experience, chips from a bag, food from the freezer and worse, the microwave! Not to mention the rude, uncaring employees. The only difference? I didn't spend 5 bucks, I spent $15!
The first time I went in and ordered the fajitas, they were so tough and flavorless I had to send them back and order something else. They used the excuse that the kitchen staff had all gone back to Mexico and they were training new staff. The taco plate I had instead was right out of the microwave, gummy and bland!. I went back a few months later and had the worst Mexican meal I ever had for all the same reasons. The chips were stale, and salsa was canned and tasted like I was having a V8. The enchiladas reminded me of the .99 dinners from Swanson. They don't make their own chips, or tortillas! Isn't freshness what people look for in Tex/Mex fare? This place does not even try.
I will never go back here and will tell everyone I know and can reach on the Internet the truth about Ricardo's.
Bleah.........pass by this one.................
- Pros: Nice Location
- Cons: Below average food, ubove average prices.

The enchiladas are great. Conveniently located in Allen. Food over all is good. I would recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner. Price is also reasonable.
No way this should be #1

I hate to say negative things about a restaurant but to rank them #1 destroys the validity of this whole process and makes me question the accuracy of anything on this website.
They have decent food but it's not even close to being the best in Allen, let alone the entire Dallas area.
They have decent food such as fajitas and taco's, chips and salsa. I don't recommend the Taco Salad since the only time I ordered it (and last) it came in the traditional hard shell with lettuce, etc,,, and a steamy pile of beefy grease that was somewhat mealy and pasty in consistency. It had to be ladled it was that much of a liquid consistency. This was just gross.
Great Fajitas and Very Clean.

It is a kid friendly place with decent food. The staff was friendly and I liked the feeling it had with the boothes on each side. I enjoyed the unique artwork and colors.

Best House Margarita EVER! (the Ricardo, frozen)
The chips, salsa, queso, and the chicken nachos are incredible! Its a fun place to take the family or come for happy hour! :-)
- Pros: The Ricardo Margarita, frozen, is the BEST margarita ever!
- Cons: Chicken enchiladas are ok. Nothing great!
Best Fajita Fare around!

Our family loves eating the chicken fajita's with the one-of-a-kind seasoning. The seasoning on the chicken fajita's is reason enough to drive across town past numerous other Tex-Mex restaurants. Add an order of beef fajita nachos and you have the perfect combination of Ricardo's specialties.
- Pros: Anything Fajita, or Rita
- Cons: Not open on Sundays
