Wonderful experience
by Kim Baldwin
We had a wonderful experience at The Fish. The sushi was fresh and flavors were bursting. Our waiter was right on without being obnoxious. I cant say enough good about it.
- Pros: Good service, good sushi, nice atmospher
- Cons: None
Wow! Something special in Dallas
by larosser
I am not ready to say that The Fish has the best sushi in town, because I didn't sit at the sushi bar, and I didn't order any nigiri.
I will say that it offers an amazing dining experience, one of the best I've had in Dallas. The decor is gorgeous but not overpowering, the service friendly, prompt and professional, and the food outstanding. The seaweed salad had a delicate flavor and just the right texture - not a bit soggy or limp. The makimono were creative, well constructed and tasty. Two very non traditional rolls (the Ribeye Roll and the Caliente) were astonishingly good - worth writing home about.
I was very happy with this restaurant and am already planning my next visit. It will definitely be on my list of places to take out of town guests as well as local friends.
- Pros: quick service, fresh food, creative take on japanese dining
- Cons: the darn red menus are almost impossible to read
Great Atmosphere
by ccorcoran
I had been dying to try the Fish ever since they opened. I finally had my chance the other night. The restaurant's interior is beautiful. I thought the food was average at best. I had a spicy tuna roll and did not think it was spicy. I even asked for spicy mayo so that it tasted better. I had shrimp and veggie tempura and the shrimp was plump, large, and very good. The tempura was good but I like anything fried. My husband had a chicken appetizer and he said it was very bland. If we ever return it will be for the atmosphere and a drink and not likely the food.
- Pros: Great Atmosphere
- Cons: Food
Disappointed.

Lets be realistic...you are not going to find some of the freshest raw sea food in Texas unless you pay an arm and a leg.
I had an order to go, and asked for white tuna sashimi. I was then greeted with white tuna tataki (seared) which tasted slightly fishy, and had faint pink in it. White tuna is supposed to be fresh and creamy tasty, which this was not.
Their age dofu tasted great, and I tried a spicy tuna roll, which was probably the best thing I had. The sea diver roll had hamachi (yellowtail) and eel. The yellowtail could have been fresher, the eel tasted good. Creative looking rolls wrapped perfectly, with the right amount of rice was a plus.
All in all, I don't think this is a bad place. The prices are somewhat fair, but the freshness is lacking. That is something that is hard to find in Dallas for a reasonable price.
Having said that I would not go back and order off the raw menu, I would probably explore the cooked items.
- Pros: Cool spot, nice vibe. Friendly staff.
- Cons: Food is slightly above average, don't expect to be blown away though.
Don't miss out!

I went here for my birthday on Saturday night, and it was absolutely amazing. First, I completely procrastinated and made reservations that same day for 8 people, and they were more than accomodating on the phone. The reservations were for 7:30, but we were running late and didn't arrive until 8:30!! They were still very polite and sat our party within 5 mintues. The atmosphere was great, beautiful decor on the inside. After ordering, we had two more people stop by and surprise us, but the staff had no problem bring another small table over and more chairs. The service was great, the food was great, and I'm glad I ended up there on my birthday. I have no complaints!! Can't wait to back!
- Pros: Everything, but try the ribeye roll
- Cons: Nada
Soooooo gooood!!

Great atmosphere, great food, great service!!! best sushi in dallas for sure!! in response to the comment by "the fish stinks", i personally know the owners from my days in houston. FACT: the original fish in midtown houston started the whole upscale sushi trend when it opened in 2002....so i laugh when a comment says the fish isn't up to par with all the upscale sushi places in dallas when the fish arguably started the whole trend in the state of texas...go and see for urself!!!!
Great sushi guides

I Dined at The Fish sushi restaurant the other weekend and had a great time at the sushi bar. The sushi chef was very helpful with my order since I am a new sushi eater. In the end, I just let them order the food for me and they made sushi experience fabulous. They even prepared sushi that wasn't even on the menu. Next time I'll just have the chef prepare everything without a menu. If you want a great meal, EAT AT THE SUSHI BAR at the fish :) !!! (At least if you don't know what you are doing)
- Pros: Fantastic service and food!
THE FISH SINKS
by gregorianchant
This is possibly the worse sushi restaurant in Dallas. The food is good enough, but the service is straight out of a small family owned Vietnamese restaurant where they only have one waitress who is also the dishwasher, and when you go in, the extended family of the owner is always hanging out in a corner with their 5 small children. The guy next to you at the sushi bar is also one of the cooks, and inbetween eating his dinner, he is taking your order and jumping up and down to help you. We've all had the experience. You know what I'm talking about. By the end of my meal, I could tell that "The Fish" was indeed run by some unprofessional people who weren't quite ready to take on the type of upscale sushi bar in Uptown Dallas.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Unprofessionally run
The Fish
by TXArts
The Fish has the best sushi in Dallas. There are many innovative and delicious new options such as the Rib Eye Rolls (delicious!) and even the standard offerings such as the California Rolls are exceptional. The decor is lush and yet still seems intimate, and the staff is attentive but not intrusive. The waiters are knowledgeable and offer great suggestions if you want to try something new. The location is convenient and very accessible. Just when I thought the restaurants in Dallas couldn't get any better, we get The Fish. Try it - You'll like it.
Best Sushi Restaurant in Dallas:
by Bauernschmitt
In my near weekly experiences at this well kept Dallas secret some of the greatest attributes of the Fish are their high quality of food, diversity of dishes, and customer service. General Manager Danny Kim?s primary focus is how to please their patrons. He is constantly changing and evolving their menu to include new and exciting dishes at his clients? request. He always keeps their most popular dishes, but is continuously adding new dishes to the line up as a constant way to please their clients? pallets.
The Service is second to none in this modern and cozy restaurant. No matter how busy they are ? from full occupancy to late afternoon lunch ? I always feel as though I am the only table in the restaurant. This is a quality that is seldom found in the service industry today.
If you are looking for a warm and inviting sushi house in the Dallas area with high quality food and excellent service, then you should drop in. This restaurant is a must try for all Fish and Sushi Lovers!!
- Pros: Ambience, High Quality Sushi, Top Notch Service, Free Valet Parking
- Cons: None
