This is the absolute worst bar I've EVER been to - it should be shut down!!! The doorman was THE BIGGEST JACK*SS I'VE EVER MET. Started yelling and cursing at me in front of the whole line, throwing insults at me.... and I'm a girl!! I was about 2 seconds from punching this guy in the face. Thank god the police were there to shut this guy the hell up. Inside the doors isn't much better. I've never seen so many TOOLS in one bar before, and I go out in uptown a lot! The drinks were way overpriced (which was expected, I'll admit), the place was WAY overcrowded. So much so that stupid drunken idiots kept bumping into me and spilling my drink so by the time I reached the outside patio, only half of my drink was left. Oh, and the music was deafening. Need any other reasons not to go here??? THIS PLACE S*CKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. these "5 star" reviews on here all sound like they were written by the owner's girlfriend or something. seriously, "Catch it while it lasts!"...... "Dont miss it - Lotus is great" ......... who says that?!!

Pros: NOTHING

Cons: Crappy staff, overpriced drinks, too crowded, too loud, full of pretentious tools

Lotus is one of those places the "in crowd" really enjoys, but it easily provided the worst experience with any club or bar in my life. I was set to meet a date there with my friends – we were concerned about our attire, but she made sure to ask the doormen about the dress code before we left. Apparently, shorts and sandals are okay, just no "dirty sneakers." I show up with my friends, and we're ushered to an empty place to the right “where the line forms.” Three other groups walk up and get in immediately, which is fine. I expect that from a faux-LA club places like this. After about 5 minutes the Eastern European the doorman tell us to head on in – four of us walk in, three wearing sneakers, and then the guy stops my best friend and tells him no sneakers. He’s the best dressed of all of us: nice polo and kakis. No problem – we know this isn’t our place, and I duck in to grab everyone so we can head over to Christi’s or the Gingerman. Would have been fine, but my date, easily the most polite woman I know, walked out to ask what was going on, and starts to get an attitude from this guy. She says he doesn’t need to be an a-hole to us. He literally responds, in front of everyone standing in line to get in, “Go to the gym - you need to lose some weight.” Date’s crying, I’m angry. Hell of an exchange with this idiot, who makes a big effort to intimidate us by taking off his jacket. I should have decked him, but I’ll admit I pussed out on that. Police show up, we’re asked to move along and that this is typical from the Lotus doormen. Seems to be, given the other reviews here. The cops were pretty nice though. On a side note – it seems like a lot of the 5 star reviews here are fake, but who can prove that?

Cons: Doormen, Loud as hell

I've been to Lotus three times now and nave never had anything but a fabulous time. My girlfriends and I like to go there for '80s night, and we usually get there pretty early before the place is too packed so we can grab a seat. I have never had any problems with the doorman. He is not the most conversational but he has never been rude to me. The bartenders have always been very friendly, and I've never had a problem getting a drink from them. It is pricey, but I don't mind since we have such a great time. I saw complaints about the owner, too, but I have always found him to be pretty cool, especially since he has always sent us free shots. It does get really crowded, and you have to order bottle service to sit on the comfy couches, but we always grab a seat there until someone who ordered bottle service shows up, and the staff members have always been very nice and even apologetic when we have to give up our table (which isn't really our table!). The '80s nights are a BLAST, and the DJs take requests. I very highly recommend it.

Pros: Friendly Staff, Fun Music, Cool Patio

Cons: Pricey Drinks, Gets Too Packed to Dance Sometimes

I went to this bar for a couple event/ fund-raising happy hours (when various associations rented out the patio) and decided to try it out on the weekend. Big mistake. I had a drink poured down my back ....and the doorman blamed me! Apparently, as the doorman explained it, the young girl ( who was stumbling all over the place) was his "friend" ..so...when I complained, I was asked to leave. Before that, the staff/doorman's rudeness was evident ..poor service and rude staff in general...why bother? This is not a place for young professionals. My advice to those looking for a good time in Uptown is : spend your money elsewhere-- stick to the places with good clientele and good service people: The MAT; State and Allen; TABC; Vino 100; The Quarter; and, The Loon (yes, The Loon)

Pros: Maybe a better place will open up in this space

Cons: Rudeness rules

WORST DOORMAN IN DALLAS. There was no line and the patio was half full...my boyfriend and I have purchased several bottles there but the doorman insisted we wait in the one-person line. we asked how long we would have to wait and he said "one person out, one person in." About 8 people walked out and he still told us to wait...and wait...and wait...i tried to walk in with the ONE GUY he let in in front of us, but he jumped in front of me and said "now you're GONNA wait." for a half full club at midnight on a saturday, this pompous and disrespectful creature obviously turned us and our friends off from ever returning to this sad little hole in the wall.

Cons: everyone working there

If you and your friends want to go to a place that's hip, but not overly pretentious, this is the place. The owners have done a great job of putting together a place that doesn't feel "trendy". It has an upscale appearance, and attracts an upscale crowd. The downside is the drinks are a little higher than you'd pay for at neighboring bars, but heck, you're paying for the atmosphere. Music/DJ is always great, 80's night is a blast. The patio is a great place to mingle late into the night

Pros: Great Atmosphere

Cons: A little pricey

I dont know what other people are complaining about but I went to Lotus last weekend and had an awesome time. The line was a bit long but it was a theme night and it was pretty packed inside. Needless to say when I got in (about 20 minutes or so) it was well worth it. Very fun crowd, friendly staff and it was really nice to be in a place where people have their stuff together and there was no drama. I will definitely be going there again and I have told all my friends about it so expect the crowd to be even better. Dont miss it - Lotus is great

Lotus is a fabulous place to book tables for bottle service - if you happen to be looking for a pretentious nightspot with insipid doormen, a highly flawed "velvet rope", overpriced and cliche cocktails, and enough fake tans to keep Coppertone in business for eternity. If that's your thing - you will definitely get what you pay for.

Pros: ... um ... drawing a blank

Cons: "top notch" djs playing top 40 music? Awful service, Pretentious atmosphere, and an overabundence of silicone.

Do not go there. It's the home of everythning gross about Dallas. The line is over an hour long on Saturday night whie the corrupt staff let every douchbag that willing to pay them skip pass. Anyone with any brains should never spend a dime at this joint where you need to pay off the manager to get in to an empty club full of douchbags....

Pros: location

Cons: the staff, the people.
