Great Place for a Haircut

It's kind of like Cheers - everybody knows your name. I've been getting my hair cut there for 10+ years. I always enjoy seeing everyone and catching up with Mark Marcell. My wife is a long-time client as well.

• Pros: Scheduling, atmosphere, service quality

You only need to know one name....DERRA

Derra is the best stylist I've ever found! She really takes time to listen to what I want, and how my life style affects my hair style. I'm very tough on my hair, but Derra always seems to make me look beautiful!

She's shown me how to use different tools at home to achieve the look she gives me. Derra never tries to sell me things I don't need, but when I ask, she'll tell me what products will work best with my hair.

Every time I sit in her chair, I feel like I'm catching up with an old friend.

When you go to Derra, she'll spoil you and you'll never go anywhere else!

This place ROCKS

I LOVE On the Avenue! I have been going to both Jill and Leslie since the salon opened and can not imagine going anywhere else. I love the feeling the salon has ... very comfortable with a nice energetic buzz. The products offered are excellent, and they are always searching out new and improved products to offer. One of my favorites is the makeup they offer. It is fabulous. And, it's always nice to pick up a nice scented candle for someone special, even if it's yourself! Jill has an unbelievable talent with color that most stylists only dream of having. I originally came to Jill after a horrible perm and haircut that almost ruined my hair. She spent a lot of time getting my hair healthy again (almost a year) and I will NEVER trust anyone else with my hair. I always look forward to getting my hair done. It's just FUN. She listens to what you want and makes suggestions that make the cut and color excellent. Leslie has an uncanny way to make you feel relaxed and comfortable no matter what you are getting done. I regularly get microdermabrasion which has almost completely done away with my adult acne, not to mention helps the look of my aging skin! I even got permanent makeup on my eyebrows and eyeliner and I LOVE IT. I am a fair blonde and used to look washed out without makeup, but not anymore! I tell everyone how happy I am with it. My Mom who is in her 70s is so impressed, she wants to get her eyeliner done. My next step is getting her to do my lips! If you are looking for a salon you can feel comfortable with that makes you feel welcome and happy to serve you, this is the place. You'll never want to go anywhere else again.

Mark Marcell

Mark is the only person I would trust to cut my curly hair. I have been his client for over 10 years now and still get stopped by strangers all the time to find out where I get my hair done! He's the best. And a great guy as well. Go see him..you will be glad you did!

GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!

I have very curly hair and I have never found anyone to be able to cut it or fix it....Until now and I found Mark Marcell!!!! I found him on a website called naturallycurly where he had rave reviews. He is so laid back and makes it easy to understand what it takes to make my hair look GREAT from day to day. Thank you Mark and I look forward to every visit!!!! This salon is really great

On the Avenue salon has great stylists and the beauty services are fabulous. This is one fun salon. The people know you and they are really listening when you tell them what you are looking for. This kind of attention is rarely found in salons. Prices are very reasonable and they really work to accommodate your schedule.

THEY RUINED MY HAIR AND CHARGED MY AN ARM AND LEG!

I love my platinum blonde hair! I had the best hairdresser in Frisco but she moved to California. I started going to On the Ave Salon because I ran into a girl in a band named Erika Lemmon. She is a hair stylist at on the ave. She told me she could do my hair and make it as platinum as I wanted. I had some roots so I went to her the very next day. She turned my gorgeous blonde hair so orange she could not fix it! There were even spots of black from the roots with the orange! She tried toning it the retoning it and bleaching it which made it all break off and start falling out in the sink! My hair was over 24 inches long and after Erika got her hands on it it was less than 16" and some even completely fell out! I loved my hair and always took care of it but one day with Erika and now I have to spend hundreds on fake hair extensions. I am devestated. Please do not go to Erika or on the ave your hair will thank you!!! trust me!

WORST SERVICE EVER! ERICA LEMMON IS SOOOO SHADY!

I just moved to Dallas from New York, I met Erika through a friend and I went to her for about a year. She always did my hair and I was very loyal to her. One day I came in after hours, as she usually stays longer, to get my hair done. She must have forgot that I was coming because when I walked thru the back and waited in the lobby, I heard her telling a customer she was finishing up with that she was only charging her $80. She told the lady that she liked her and that the customers she doesnt like she charges $120. She even said that she does it all the time like with me. I was about to walk in to confront her when i heard her say, "yeah this one girl Brandi (which is me) is so dumb I charge her way more and she still comes back! She thinks we are friends! She's such an idiot! Shes from New York so I knew I could get more outta her!!!!" I walked to her station and said "Well this idiot is taking her money to a place that actually respects their customers" and walked out. I have NEVER been so disrespected by a hairdresser!! AWFUL!!! She will act like you're her best friend then stab you in the back.

TERRIBLE!!! ERICALEMMON JACKS UP THE PRICES!!

I USED TO GO TO SEE ERICA LEMMON AT ON THE AVE SALON FOR 2 YEARS! SHE WAS MY GIRL! SHE WOULD MAKE MY HAIR PLATINUM BLONDE FOR $90. THEN ONE DAY I DECIDED TO GET HAIR EXTENSIONS, ERICA SAID SHE WOULD DO THEM FOR 1000. I BOUGHT THE HAIR AND EVEN THE EQUIPMENT. SHE TOLD ME SHE HAD NEVER DONE FUSIONS BEFORE BUT I DECIDED TO GO WITH HER BECAUSE I TRUSTED HER. SHE SAID THERE WAS LEFT OVER HAIR FROM THE BAGS I BOUGHT AND SHE WOULD PUT THEM IN FOR FREE IN 5 OR 6 MONTHS WHEN THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. INSTEAD 3 WEEKS LATER ALL THE EXTENSIONS FELL OUT! I SPEND A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR ONE MONTH OF EXTENSIONS! I CALLED HER TO GET THE REST OF MY BAG OF HAIR TO DO IT MYSELF SHE REFUSED TO GIVE ME THE HAIR AND SAID IT WOULD COST AN EXTRA $200 TO DO IT! I DIDNT EVEN GET THE OWN HAIR I BOUGHT BACK AND SHE SAID I DIDNT TREAT MY EXTENSIONS RIGHT! ARE U KIDDING? IF I PAY A THOUSAND DOLLARS IM TREATING MY HAIR LIKE GOLD! SHE IS TERRIBLE! SHE JACKS UP THE PRICES OF PEOPLE SHE DOESNT LIKE AND THEN TELLS OTHER CLIENTS ABOUT IT! DO NOT GO TO ON THE AVE! FOR YOUR POCKET BOOKS SAKE!!!

Incredible SeaStar Facial Peel & BEST Hair Color & Cut!

Wow - I'm SO pleased with my highlights & lowlights from Erika at On the Avenue! We lowered my blonde highlights a bit - more of a champagne now for the fall & winter - she's amazingly talented & very personable. Erika makes me laugh & I really like how she makes suggestions all the while really listening to what I'm looking for. Her haircuts are perfect - I love my soft layers & my new semi-bangs. I also had a SeaStar peel from Leslie - very relaxing treatment & then a couple days later the very light peeling started - my skin is rejuvenated & more even toned now - loved this treatment & the results. I've had SO many compliments on my hair color and skin lately, I seriously can't count. I highly recommend On the Avenue Salon to everyone!
