There is Brooklyn pizza in Dallas! After over a decade of disappointment (nothing came remotely close to the pizza I grew up with in Brooklyn), Pastazio's ended my frustration. The sauce is just a little different each time. This means it's fresh. The real deal, served with the right attitude.

I moved here from NJ 3 years ago, and have tried SO hard to find REAL pizza. I got tired of places that claimed "NY Style" and have a Statue of Liberty replica at their door. Not only do I feel at home when I eat this pizza...BUT..they serve by the slice too!!!!!!!!!!! Its not overpriced either. I will never eat fake pizza as long as I'm in the state of Texas ever again!

  • Pros: Indoor/outdoor seating, pizza by the slice!
  • Cons: You can't stop eating

The Scene
Behind the cafeteria-style counter cooks toss pasta in saucepans and scoop hot pizza from bakers ovens. A hodgepodge of glazed tiles, a smattering of comfy leather booths and a Top 40 soundtrack create a relaxed, neighborhood feel. Sidewalk seating in front offers excellent people watching of Uptown pedestrians.

The Food
The menu is straight out of New York City complete with authentic cannoli--sweet, mascarpone cheese rolled in a fried pastry shell--and thin crust pizza. There are also healthy options like salad made with crisp greens, tangy dressing and a choice of ham, salami, cheese, or roasted peppers. An ample pasta selection ranges from the traditional baked ziti to more exotic lobster ravioli in seafood sauce. The tirami-su, a spongy Italian pudding, is a worthy finale as is the caramel fudge cheesecake.

This is the best NY-style pizza outside of...well, New York. The perfect balance of crust, sauce and spices.
