Terrible Food by Mary W. at InsiderPages
Contributor at Insider Pages
The first hint of a problem came when the gyoza arrived at the table within a few minutes of placing our order. Gyoza should be pan fried and steamed at the same time. It was obvious this had been microwaved. It was limp, pasty white and moist.
The egg rolls were almost inedible. They appeared to be mostly cabbage filled, had little taste, and were wet rather than crisp. I suspect these were precooked and then microwaved. The sauce was very good but it did not make up for the egg roll issue.
The edamame, a Japanese restaurant staple, was just OK. It should be bright green, crisp and lightly salted. Ours was relatively crisp, under salted and medium green. I suspect it was also microwaved instead of steamed as it should be.
The sushi was uneven. The eel roll was good, according to the person who ate it. My California roll was too sweet (!) and somewhat limp. I asked for no avocado because of an allergy and the roll did not have a substitute vegetable, like cucumber, which I've gotten at other restaurants. My ebi (cooked shrimp) was firm and a dark bright pink, and it tasted good. The person who ordered the snow crab roll was unable to eat it. It was falling apart and extremely cold.
The worst part was that all three of us had stomach problems within an hour of eating. I actually started getting sick at the restaurant. I thought it was just me but my dining companions experienced similar problems.
Other reviewers have commented that the food was reasonably priced. It came to about $20 a person but given the quality, I would have to say that it was overpriced.
PROS: Decent shrimp sushi, good service.
CONS: Most of the food was improperly cooked and/or inedible.
Places to Avoid for Lunch
by GeoW at Citysearch
Went for the lunch buffet that cost $12.00 and was worth 1/2 that. Almost everything was deep fried, very limited choices, only seaweed covered tiny rolls with miniscule pieces of whatever inside (mostly cooked chicked, krab, cream cheese and other cheap stuff), and what little raw fish they had a place for was always empty (and that was just Tuna and Red Snapper).
Service was minimal, and I was never asked why I kept pacing the small food area in search of sushi that never was to be. I ended up eating dumplings and some sticky rice that I added some spicy sauce to for flavor. And they ran out of all their desserts and didn't replenish until we got up to leave...forever. Sayonara, Midori!
I would rather have traveled to Addison and spent $16.00 at Tokyo One and had actual sushi. This buffet is a joke, except I'm not laughing.
- Pros: Didn't die
- Cons: Not worth the price
Midori is the best
by marcelinarae at Citysearch
I went to college in Irving and Midori was the first sushi restaurant I ever ate at. That being said, now that I have moved home to Houston I go to Midori every time I go back to the dallas area. Their sushi is great for the price. The service isn't stellar but if you sit at the sushi bar the sushi chefs are always chatty. Get the Sushi Burrito, it's delicious!
- Pros: Great Sushi, inventive rolls
- Cons: Sometimes service is lacking
Great sushi! Okay service.

Delicious sushi, especially the Dragon Eye.
The service was not up to par. As soon as you walk in, there is not a friendly vibe like most sushi restaurants.
Cheap sushi
by ILuvFood82 at Citysearch
I have only been their for dinner but the prices of their sushi is cheap compared to other sushi places I have been too. The sushi is pretty good for the price they offer.
- Pros: cheap sushi
- Cons: gets busy and packed
Fresh Sushi, Generous Pieces, Friendly Staff, and Moderate Prices make this place A Real Catch!!

I have been going to Midori Sushi for years, and the one defining attribute that has always kept me coming back is consistency. Their pieces are very generous in size and the food very fresh. You will notice as you tend to become a regular, the sushi chefs remember your name and are engaging with the customers. Favorite sushi items include Fresh Salmon, Albacore Tuna, Scallops, and Uni. In addition, there are a number of delicious rolls (Spicy Tuna and Volcano Roll are great).
The atmosphere is contemporary, casual, and comfortable. Be aware that in the evening there is often a loyal and regular following, so there may be a wait. Another item worth noting is the lunch buffet. This is perhaps one of the best finds in the Irving area. They offer a huge assortment of sushi rolls, and even some none sushi items (stir fry chicken and beef). Be advised that unless you get there early for lunch, you will have a wait. In fact, I have seen it with the line out the door on many occasions.
Keep in mind, they recently opened their newest location (near DFW airport ? Trinity & HWY 360 by the Marriott), and the food is still great. That location also has a lunch buffet that is starting to get busy as well :)
Great sushi, generous pieces, friendly staff, and moderate prices?. TheSushiGuy says Midori will become a regular destination for sushi. You?ll get hooked!
- Pros: Fresh Sushi, Generous Pieces, Friendly Staff, and Moderate Prices make this place A Real Catch!!
- Cons: The wait sometimes.....
Irving Sushi restaurant serves up fresh favorites and more.

In Short
Sleek Japanese restaurant offers fresh sushi in an authentic atmosphere. Decorative artwork gives off a rich vibe of culture. In addition to sushi choices, entrees also include teriyaki chicken, or barbecue ribs. The sushi lunch buffet is a local favorite, and recommended for newcomers as well.
Great Sushi!

I love this place. The sushi buffet is great for $12!!! I have been going here for about a year and I love this place. I actually travel from Hurst to go here when I am not at work. If you do not like sushi still go because they have a menu with other options. I HIGHLY recommend this place!
- Pros: Price, Service, Decor
- Cons: Lunch Time Wait!!! Get there early!!!
